Title: Post-con depression!
Post by: sadistic-otaku on May 25, 2009, 08:00:52 PM
Ahhh! I'm sitting in my room, and there's nothing to do! No costume to work on, no meeting new people.. Sigh.

Anyone else feeling it?

you can meet me.
but ONLY if you REALLY want to...

but other than that, I'm kinda relieved that fanime's ended.
I like my normal sleep schedules, and I don't wanna get bored of it by bein' there too much.

I'm still wearing my cosplay from today, and I'm in my bedroom right now.

For the next few days I might wear my badge at the places I hang out at, as a representation of my post-con depression.

At the same time, I can finally play Gunbird 2 and Giga Wing, which I bought at the swap meet and had been wanting to play since Friday. I was gonna set up my Sega Saturn tonight, but ran into an FML moment when I discovered that it didn't have AV cables (RF adaptor only) and I couldn't find any Saturn games at the meet.

I'm dead, and i'm at my house relaxing and for once, i'm glad that it hasn't hit me yet. It will hit me when I go back to work on wednesday. I'll be like...oh man...need fanime now lol.

But yeah, met some new people too and might as well catch up on anime that I haven't seen lol

So true. I'm so tired right now! I'm going to sleep early tonight..

Crap I gotta start studying for finals! T_T

Thank goodness I go to SJSU! Finals are right before Fanime, so Fanime to me is a 5-day-long end-of-academic-year party.

Anyways, I'm gonna go cook some curry to mitigate this withdrawal.

I just woke from a nap. i am happy that I finally got to rest my feet and sleep, but when I woke up i realize that there was no more Cosplayers, Dealers halls, artist hall, stage Zero, and etc.

I'm gonna have to go back to my life where when i say "I like Anime" people either respond with "yea...i'm just not into that"  "Whats that?" or  "i don't watch cartoons anymore."
Those people bug me, I was Home at Fanime.

i don't know what to do for another 362 days until Fanime 2010 starts again.

It hasn't hit me yet, although odds are I'll probably still be on con sleeping time so I won't sleep until late tonight. Probably when I go back to work.

...*sigh* The weekend went so fast it seemed like a blur...I wish it could go slower :(

I have to go to school with people that I have to reserve myself with more than I do at Fanime... only at Fanime can I go up to someone I barely know and touch their hair to see how soft it is or point at them and repeat/guess their names 10+times (it really did happen... >.> SORRY JOSH!).

I think most people are reserved when hanging around with others outside of conventions. That's probably why everyone is so nice when they go to fanime, since they can be super geeky and not be judged for it. I had conversations with a bunch of random strangers, and I would never do that outside of fanime!

Exhausted.  I was fine the entire weekend, but I totally crashed today xP

It was super-fun though.  Random conversations with strangers were fun.  And dancing!  I meet a lot of awesome people there, that I hope to see again @ Fanime '10.

Strangely though, as much as I wished it would last longer, I'm glad to be back.  A lengthened convention would wear me out more, and take the fun out of it.  It'll probably the only convention I'll attend all year.  I enjoyed it ^-^

I usually don't get the con blue this bad so early, but this year is particularly bad.  I had so much fun Fanime, but I'm coming back to hell in my life.  Back to massive finals, projects, school in general, a melodramatic mother, and stress for SAT IIs.  No matter I try to look forward to, I really miss Fanime ;___;.  Sigh, my life is so boring.

I'm sad its over.  I really enjoy it so much and once it's done I have nothing to really think about or stress over.  BUT what the end of 2009 fanime means to me is the beginning of planning for the 2010 fanime.  Girlfriend, group of friends, and myself are already planning for next year, we don't wait a minute and we get ready for it right away (Because no matter what it always will get dragged to the last minute).

The post con depression hit when I was checking out.  I have to go back to the real world of work, where there are no cosplayers, or any of the other things I love about Fanime.

I am hit pretty bad.
While the ability to rest is nice, I can't help but think about how fast the weekend was.
There was so many things to do, and I am depressed that I have now have nothing to do but work.
But at least I have private time now. I don't have to deal with roommates withing 10ft of me for 4 days.
Still looking forward to next year. Considering what I bought this year, I gonna bring like a grand with me next year. Or maybe the same amount. I did pay for almost all my buddies expenses, including Food, Room, and Badge, as well as a few things from the dealers hall. That bastard owes me $200. Could have spent that on more wall scrolls.

It hasn't hit me yet. I didn't actually spent much time with anyone this year, so I don't really feel like I was ripped asunder from Fanime. Although I may feel it tomorrow.

Fanimecon felt like an epic dream, a dream that I wished that would never end. This feeling of Fanimcon withdrawl makes me want to cry  :'(

But since it felt like a dream I might as well dream it every night and stay on these forums in order to express my thoughts and to brighten up my days.  8)

I remember back when the con was Friday through Sunday. Post con depression would be pretty bad since I would usually still have energy to do things. Ever since the con started ending on Monday, post con depression hasn't been nearly as bad since by the end of the con I'm so tired that I want to go home and relax. Though it still hits me once I realize that a lot of the people I hang out with I only see like once or twice a year and mainly only at cons.

Though, I admit the long break from work is somewhat refreshing. \o/

For me, the FanimeCon 09 isn't over yet. I still have my post-con stuff to write up, a proposal for next year to put together, and a bunch of other stuff to do to close out Stage Zero 09 and prep for Stage Zero 10. By the time I finish up closing everything out and get some honest-to-goodness rest, the time for depression will be past and meetings for the next Fanime event will be starting. The convention part happens only once per year for 5 days but in truth, FanimeCon is all year long; it doesn't stop, it doesn't sleep, and the men and women who put this thing on are never without something to do...

ugh. I need some more sleep...

Loved this past Fanime.

My friends just kept showing up at the con one by one until I felt like I couldn't have any "me-time."

Now as I'm sitting here typing this with my sore feet, it's a bit lonely.
Can't wait till next year.

Post-con depression hit me the moment I turned the key to start my truck for the long drive back to L.A.  :(  It'll probably hit me even harder once I go back to work on Friday.  :'(  At least I have a whole year to save up for 2010. :D

I felt the hurt after I started working today. I was like "ohh gosh, why can't I just rent out controllers or something for 8.25 an hour..?" and then I realized how lame my job was. :(

and 360 days to save up money for fanime, woowoo!

This year was really fun. I'm already getting ready for Fanime, so I only have a little post-con depression.
I've gathered quite a few people to come with me already.
Even though they don't know much about anime, I'm ready to convert them. xD LOOL

Was at school today and one of my teachers told me off, which is a daily occurrence.
I was shocked at first, but realized that Fanime was over so there'd be no more of that "nice spirit."

I'm focusing on difficult, extravagant cosplays and other goals for next year, including saving up lots of money.
So only two days after the convention, I'm already working on next year.
 :)
So the Con-blues are not that bad this year.
Plus, there are always festivals and smaller conventions people can go to in the mean time!
Title: Re: Post-con depression!
Post by: Kupo on May 27, 2009, 07:45:56 PM
Haha wow! I thought I was the only one.

Yeah, I still have Fanime fresh in my thoughts. I was so accustomed to waking up in a hotel full of friends and going to the convention. When I was getting picked up to go home, I looked back and thought in my head "Come back Fanime!! Wahh!!" Earlier today I passed by a Movie Theatre on the way to the Library and one of the movies there was "Level Zero" and I immediately thought of "Stage Zero" and was sad! =(

I really miss the friendly atmosphere with the free hugs and stuff, it was like my second family there. I also miss the fact that I can go all nerd without looking stupid. It was also a place that I can go to away from my parents and chill with my friends. Not that I don't like my parents, but I like that kind of freedom and relaxation away, especially things like school.

When I got home I was on the bed sad because I know I'd be sleeping from this really great dream and waking up back to reality. Back to homework, tests, stress, etc. *sigh* The fact I blew my money on Fanime didn't help either, haha. I wish I could just go to anime conventions every weekend!!

At least I'll be looking forward to Fanime 2010, and the other fanimes after that!

Oh, but if it was every weekend, we'd all be very poor, and it would take away from the anticipation and excitement everyone has for Fanime. :)

You know...every time my friends hear my talking about Fanime, they always say "FAMINE? I'M HUNGRY!!!"

I've already set the count down for next fanime, assuming Day Zero is May 20th, 2010.
My phone counts.. 357 days until Day Zero! :)
that's 8568 hours.
514080 minutes.
30844800 seconds.

Wow, now that I look at Minutes and Seconds, that's not that long.

Then again, I was never a good mathematician, so I probably did this wrong.

I haven't had time to get depressed yet. I have to turn in a charity art project tomorrow for a silent auction. So I am in fresno again, and haven't gotten to recoup from con craziness. I am also in the midst of moving.

The charity auction is for a hospital for children with special needs and I was asked to donate my time and creativity for the event. I wish I had more things to paint...I love doing things like this.

Thank goodness I go to SJSU! Finals are right before Fanime, so Fanime to me is a 5-day-long end-of-academic-year party.

Anyways, I'm gonna go cook some curry to mitigate this withdrawal.

Same here! My last finals were the day before I left, so Fanime was definitely end-of-school vacation for me. Having con withdrawals, but I just found out I'm going to both AX and ComicCon, so I can't really complain.

There are so many cons year-round; Mikomicon (Sept), PMX (Nov), ALA (Jan) and Fanime that it's almost hard to miss them.

People at my school are so stupid.

Well here's the crappy part about my PCD:

I feel so distant from my non-con friends now. I feel like the only non-family I want to be friends with right now are my con friends. I've had a crush on a classmate for a year, and going to Fanime kinda...retarded that crush, because she's not an anime fan, let alone a congoer.

I agree with that.
Actually, I've been having the same opinion...con-friends have a LOT more in common with me than my friends I've met in school. Of course some of them still like anime...but not a congoer. (I know, OMIGOSH).
A really good way is to start a Facebook event or group and just invite everyone you know. If they go, good for you and them! xD

I really think that Fanime (and any other con, but Fanime in particular) has a friendly atmosphere. You can walk up to complete strangers and strike up a conversation like nobody's business. That can't happen anywhere else without it feeling weird. Take advantage of this and talk! :)

I've had that happen to me. At this point, though I'm not actually that nerdy, I've resolved that if I had a preference on who to crush on, it'd have to be someone who at least has a measure of nerdness to them.

unfortunately huge bursts of romantic emotion don't work that way.

More like post-con blah-ness on my part. However, coming home to a family BBQ helps the monotony of real life. Then again, I did have a picnic to attend to the very next Saturday.

Ah well, Anime Expo is up next. Until then, it's summer school study time - grad school style! (aka lots of work ahead!)

Bah, AX is no go for me due to no roommates. However, I may pay a visit to AI with my friend sometime this summer.

I'll also most likely do 1-day visits to Sac-Anime and Yaoi-Con.

Certain departments you can work while in cosplay or they do more work before/after the con.  So there are still opportunities if you're interested. =)

Fresno would be hard to make meetings...I'm going to have an equally hard time since I'll be out in San Diego starting in september.  I'm sure if you talk to the department head of whatever you're interested in (ROVERS ROVERS ROVERS ::end subliminal message::) they can work something out so the days you can make it out they ensure you're prepped and ready for Fanime2010.

However i'm not even sure i'll be able to go to Fanime'10 D: !!
The peeps I travel with from Arizona might not be going.
one of them has a graduation that weekend, and another one has a chance to go to Japan, and will have no money when she comes back for a con. That leaves me one other friend, and i'm not so sure just the two of us can make that many hour drive safely. x.x
So my post-con depression is major, knowing there is a huge chance I won't even be able to go. D:

Actually it's cheaper to drive, it's just a longer travel. we split the money four ways. so each of us is only filling the tank one and a half times. Same goes for the hotel room.

omg. the countdown widget thingy is an aewsome idea..

from arizona? would it not be cheaper to fly? just fly to San Jose Mineta airport. i am just curious. i would THINK the gas would be a killer XD

Actually it's cheaper to drive, it's just a longer travel. we split the money four ways. so each of us is only filling the tank one and a half times. Same goes for the hotel room.

hm ok, idk i was just thinking because of gas XD. well hope you can make it down! ^_^

did you mention in another thread that since your first might-not-be-able-to-go post you have good news about coming?

Yea, found out that the dates do not conflict with the graduation./ If Fanime had been held on the same dates as last year, it would have. But sense it's actaully a week later, all is good there. However it's still up in the air or not before of our fourth friend who might still be going to Japan. But either way, it's looking better, and my chances are becomes greater to come to Fanime'10 woot.
