@ Eliteslayer: If this is really successful I hope to have one of the preliminary shows Friday evening. Going with Sunday and Saturday first though. Max #'s we have planned are: 4 preliminary shows of no more than 15 entries each preliminary with 4 judges each preliminary (60 total entries and 12 judges) and then a final show where the preliminary winners compete against each other on Sunday.

If someone is in to acting, singing or dance and wanted to show off their talents in front of their Fanime peers then this event would be perfect for them! Of course they should be brave... very brave... cause the Fanime Fans are the ones with the say so on just how good it is :P It isn't about the cosplay costume quality or even if you made it :o, it is about the "SKILLLLZ! ::)" *giggles I am tempting all of you huh? ;D

Hnn... I was a newbie to Fanime so I don't know of this is how things go but to me it seemed like the cosplay gathering list seemed too small for me or not obvious enough. I saw a lot of people who didn't know there were gatherings or where and well, I guess it was a point that things should be pointed out more specifically because some people didn't know. Also, I know it may seem like a lot but a print out on the bags of the gatherings could be useful that way people know and can plan it a bit in time. I don't know. Just a thought x.xBeing new to Fanime and a cosplayer it can be overwhelming to find the info, especially if this is your first anime convention. I appreciate your feedback and I do like the idea of printing on the bags and will check into it, but I don't want loose gatherings if it to has an early print requirement.

You guys were very helpful as always; I could check in to the things I was hosting quickly enough, and when I couldn't find the Pokemon gathering, the person working there pointed me towards it without even needing a second to think.I am looking into how I would like the set up for the info boards. One thing I would like to point out is that some people think the pages are out of order. They aren't, they are set up to be read like a manga, after all it is an anime convention and not a SciFi con. It will be easier to read next year, even with the large number of gatherings and events we might have.
If I had to criticize anything, when I was looking at the list of gatherings, the events were located towards the middle of the page while the gatherings were on the side. Sometimes I missed the events while looking at all the gatherings. That's all I can think of right now.
The pokemon gathering was a little unorganized at times, and we had to move quite a bit for such a large group(from the 2nd floor patio, marriott side) to the 1st floor outside), which was a little much for the group. We lost a few people on the way there, and a lot of people after the first major picture, because of how long the wait was, and not everyone was being super patient or helpful.Thank you spookdy for your input :) I would like the concourse patio Marriott side for JUST COSPLAYER GATHERINGS & COSPLAYER EVENTS next year.
BTW.... How were the attendees, photographers, and protesters @ your gatherings & event?
For the riser stage where the FMA gathering or any other gathering that takes place there would it be possible to have some kind of curtain to block out the light coming from outside the convention center. Or at the very least give a better looking background for the people taking pictures.

GAH! Every time you make the title of the thread something like CG Dept updates, I think it has to do with something other than you letting the peeps know what all is going on in the whole organization-y process you do.This thread is specifically for the cospeeps to know what we are working on, looking for, or other important info. After all, our staff are supposed to come into the gatherings section and look at what all the wonderful cosplayers are working on :) so it is a place where we can see 'what's happening' with the department and also a place where cospeeps can post their ideas and suggestions through out the year. Sorry if I have confused anyone :( not my intention, but I know as a cosplayer that I would like to know what I could look forward to besides all the wonderful gatherings and events. :)
@AnimefanJJ:1st I want to say I'm sorry I ran into your time :( I thought I had managed to squeeze it into the 1 hr and I will work on that for next year. Also, it will most likely stay @ 1 pm on Saturday so maybe you can do VII around noon if you choose to do it on Saturday next year. More often than not I have found that the cospeeps that are in a large multi title gathering like their smaller single title gathering to happen before so they can do their fun shots before hand. You may already know this, but there are those out there that don't so I thought I would throw it out there.It is ok, I will do some time management so we can have the gatherings work off the other, but I won't worry about that until October.
Hey B, got a question:Fanime and CDG are paying close attention to the destruction/construction in the area. Don't worry about it for now. Like I said in my first post... Let's see where they are in January before we worry about too much. Besides, I am more worried about our large events that were happening in the walkway then the fountain area. The odds are good that the fountain area will be ok.
How do you plan on getting around the construction and the reduced space for cosplay gatherings? The right side that's closed off had some gatherings, especially some of the larger gatherings like Hetalia.

B,I understand how you feel and I offer my appologies. I believe it was the year of Steampunk that this happened last time and I can rectify it for those who contact me. I'm even willing to replace a few if people have lost one. I keep extensive paperwork so only those who were organizers should PM me about unreceived or lost certificates and I will see what I can do about replacing them. Please put "CERTIFICATE" in the SUBJECT line and then list your gathering/event (s) and year. It would help to have a complete address where to send them.

The photographers that came out to the gathering I ran did a great job working with us! And some of the other gatherings I attended, they also put a lot of good energy into working with the cosplayers.
One point of feedback: some of us did not get certificates for organizing the gatherings.
It was real hit and miss from what I saw, we were told to check back the next day and they would be there for us, and nope.
It's a little disappointing because this is second time this has happened to me (can't remember if it was last year or the year before). It's not an end of the world horrible thing to never get your certificate, but it's nicer when you do get them. And someone who won't be able to make it back next year, never got their's either.
I hope you can see this is corrected for next year? (But see my point this is a second year this has happened.)
