Title: Post-Con Depression Support Group 2012
Post by: PLUMPKIN on May 28, 2012, 11:49:07 PM
Fanime Stages of Grief
-Denial: "Fanime is not over! I need to pick out a cosplay to wear tomorrow!"
-Anger: "Why does Fanime have to end?  This isn't fair!"
-Bargaining: "I'll do anything to have another day at Fanime!"
-Depression: "I'm so sad that Fanime is over.  I want to hole up in my room until 2013."
-Acceptance: "I can't wait 'til Fanime 2013!  I'm already planning my next cosplay!"

Seems like I'm still in the depression phase, hence this post.  What about you guys?  Has the post-con depression hit yet?

i've been at Acceptance since I left the con center in the early evening. 5 years of going to these things will that to you...

I don't regret fanime being over.

I just regret not buying some certain stuff that I didn't even know about until after I'd left.

*sigh*

I may never be able to get my hands on it again. *sigh*

I have partly "depression", but living through "acception" after Fanime is over!
My first time may not be the best, but it's not the worst either!

Now that Fanime is over, I feel a bit empty inside. On the bright side the anime con season officially begins. As for me I have AM2, AX, Sacanime, and a few other 1 or 2 day cons.

But still that's not enough to compare to the awesomeness of Fanime.
Till next year!!

I'm already on acceptance, actually I'm already starting and working on a new cosplay. I had to help my Fanime noobs through this depression syndrome though haha

Same here! I have a couple cons coming up as well.

I think I'm in Acceptance but how I generally feel is "I'm too tired to go to work today... can I just skip it and sleep all day? =_="

I'm at ACCEPTANCE as well since my very first 2 fanime cons were in BARGAINING mode so I grew into letting it pass lol

I've been coming to the con for 5 years and I still get depression mode. Fanime 2012 went really quick for me this year. I don't want to go back into the dramatic world. I want to stay with Fanime.

I'm somewhere in between depression and acceptance. I am quite sad it is over, but accept it cause I am making plans for next year already

well this years depression is definitely not as bad as last years, which was horrible btw.

but never the less i already miss being in a small fantasy world in which everyone is dressed in awesome costumes and there is anime all around me :<

now i gotta wait 360 days till next year sadly.

o well, back to a normal boring reality again :/

Somewhere between bargaining and depression.
I know there are several cons coming up and I'm going to have a blast at AX but I'd trade it all in a heartbeat for Fanime.

I'm a fan of the 13 step program, whereby the 13th step means you go back to whatever bad habit you had in the first place.

I have AM2 and AX to look forward to.  And since Fanime 2012 did not elicit the same OMG reaction I had at Fanime 2011, it was much easier to breeze to the acceptance phase.

I'm in the Acceptance stage. Just now having ideas of what I want to cosplay for next year. I'm just hoping that the convention center expansion will be done by next Fanime and have the return of the fountains.

That would go under the depression stage.  Join the club!

The worst part about Fanime being over is having to go to school the next day and work on final projects. x_x

At least next year, my college spring semester ends a week before Fanime, so after con I can safely sleep for a week. :D

I'd say that puts me in depression at the moment. Acceptance seems way too uppity and cheerful.

i only have the regret part of it, meaning I regret not talking to any girls :/ or trying to meet new people

I was thinking about holding a get-together for friends I met at Fanime next weekend or after, but finances (and the tendancy for social outings I host to fail) and the fact that I barely made any new friends kinda gives me second thoughts about that.

Acceptance is where I am. Planning for next year!

I was entirely confused when I had to get up for work the next day. "Is there an event I'm attending???" were my thoughts as a groggily drove away from my house.

No, Tired Me, just work.

Something similar happened to me.
When I woke up in my room, I thought I was still dreaming because all I could think about was being at Fanime.

... maybe I'm still in the denial stage.

I have the depression bad. D:

On the first night away from the con, I woke up at 2:30 AM in a pitch black room. My first thought was 'where am I?' or 'how did I get here?'. I ended up in this half sleep/trance thing and in my dream, people that I know told me that I fainted while I was in my fursuit at the convention. They then told me that they carried me to the room to rest and that I had missed the rest of the convention. D: I can't remember if my dream self cried or I cried when I was partly awake.

That was an odd state of mind. :P

I think I have hit Depression.

Me and my friend decided that I was going to hide under the bed and she was going to hide behind the ironing bored in our hotel room until next fanime.

I'm between the depression and acceptance phases. I'm sad Fanime 2012 is over, but am already planning out 2013. ^^ I'm excited for next year's theme, which is Gothic Fairy Tale. :'D One thing comes to mind when I think of the theme, and it's definitely helping me plan out my cosplays. ^____^

My post-con has just gotten worst. I was trying to organize the pictures i took on my iphone and accidentally deleted all the Fanime pics I took with it.  :'(
All my doctor who pics as well as the furry gathering. Gone. *Tear* And Boximus Prime!!
I'm so bummed.

I'm at acceptance since this year's Fanime wasn't that great. Plus I got a troop tomorrow so I can still be in costume. My only regret is not meeting more people than I could.

I'm in the same mood minus the cosplay. Also debating working as a dealer or being a volunteer.

I'm at Acceptance. This is possibly my eighth year at Fanime, so I'm not as affected than I was 5 years ago. Plus there was quite a bit of con drama going on with my group, so wouldn't call this my best year. Still loved it though, and already making plans for next year.

Ah - but you see, staff undergo an entirely different kind of psychosis after FanimeCon. It's less "PCD", more "PCPTSD". Symptoms include confusion, desperate eating, and calling ConOps upon waking.

For example: last night, I woke up trying to figure out how we could schedule an additional panel for Asamiya-san.

I've now completed my transition to Acceptance - I have my next cosplay idea and the planning has begun.

Seeing as I could already wear a different cosplay every day next year (including Day 0), I don't know where I can fit it in, but it ought to be an interesting time planning my weekend in 2013 X'D

I live around San Jose and I pass by downtown often. Yesterday I drove by the convention center, saw the fanime banners still on the street lights, and shed a tear.

Now comes planing for the other conventions and my european vacation! After that, time to start working on 2013.

I deal with it by hanging out in #fanime, sleeping, eating and working.

Oh, and Judo. I get beat up a lot.
