Forgive me in advance for posting this idea as a newbie to the forums, but I wanted to hear an opinion from those who are enthusiastic about the con, and from those with prior experiences with the Black and White Ball.

My idea is to take the overall theme of the Velvet Room, known in the SMT: Persona games, and fuse it with the standard theme of the Black and White Ball. Now, I'm not suggesting a major deviation from what already happens at the event, and I'm not suggesting a permanent change, but adding blue to the theme could allow for some interesting results. Including some of the elements from the Persona series, mainly the Velvet Room, could add a whole level of immersion for guests to enjoy, and for fans of Persona to admire. For those who don't cosplay and choose to don the traditional black and white garb as part of the usual theme, adding blue to the mix could provide some incentive to stray from the norm, and create new and appealing combinations. In my opinion, adding a theme like this could convince more people to check it out, since it can be recognized by fans and appear friendly to newcomers.

It could just be a one-time change, but I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

I can't give my opinion on them without having tried them first. What surprised me was the number of people I saw wearing them, given the $99 price tag. Are both ears on independent motors and can both ears react differently?

Both ears can react differently, though it's more common that they're doing the same motion. When calibrating, one usually twitches to the side while the other stays put. It's kind of cute! I liked them and thought they were fun, but here are some downsides in case you were wondering:

1. Ours had problems calibrating, depending on the person. It would stay in calibration mode for nearly the entire time, in the case of my boyfriend. Adjusting the piece that touches the forehead appeared to help a bit, though.

2. They're not a good idea to buy if you get headaches from pressure on your head like I do. You will notice them, and the feeling of having them on your head doesn't really go away with time (or at least, that was my experience). It wasn't bad enough to actually induce a headache, but it got to a point where I had to remove them because it bothered me after about an hour.

3. That piece that touches your forehead was terrible for me. It has to maintain contact, so it's pushed pretty strongly into your forehead. When I remove it, I have a red mark and a small indentation where it was, which remains for about 10-20 minutes.

Regardless, they were definitely fun to pass around our group and mess around with. Just a warning: no one can take you seriously when you wear them; they're just too adorable.

And yes, the ears are removable, so you can customize or make your own coverings.

Thank you for the information.

Comments: I was happy to see the pocket schedule return this year. It was very difficult to find anything last year without it, causing some of the panels to go unnoticed. The entertainment panels put on by the con were entertaining, though not as many as there were last year IIRC. It's easy for me to say that I had a great time while I was there; however, what bothered me the most was the mishap at the pre-registration line for Thursday. It's not cool that some of us get there as early as 11a-1p and have to wait even longer due to an issue, but I understand that it can't always be helped. I heard various rumors as to the reason for the delay that lasted over an hour, such as a database problem or an angry attendee trying to pick up their badge. If anyone can dispel those rumors, it would be appreciated.

Thoughts: What I also found interesting was that the line to purchase passes for the convention was shorter than the pre-registration line at times, though it could have been coincidence on my part. I thought the point of registering early was to avoid the line, as well as the price increase. What would be required to mail passes to people that pre-registered? Or what would be required to allow for temporary/permanent passes, possibly with a barcode system, to be printed out at home? It may or may not be within the con's budget, but I'm curious as to what it would entail.

Another thing that I find interesting is the lack of whichever theme the convention chooses, and it's a little disappointing to not see the con be more active with it. If there is going to be a theme, wouldn't it be fun to have events and more decorations related to the theme? Since the theme was high-school sports, couldn't there have been morning and afternoon exercises in the front of the convention center, 100-meter dash on the lower floor, or possibly some cosplay dodgeball in one of the satellite halls (with signed waivers of course)?

Anyways, despite what happened, I look forward to next year's convention.
tl;dr: Good pocket guides, lines were long, needed more sports theme.

It was hard to maintain a connection in the convention. The only good spot I could find was in Exhibit Hall 3 near the wall.
