ok thanks! I just need to know what time I need to leave Bakersfield in order to make it in 5 hours to Reg on Thursday!

Of course...If I miss it I can always spend the night in front of the line for the next morning and be first/close to first getting it then lol!
This isn't a general admission concert or anything. .^^;; Even without camping out, you'll get your badge in a timely manner so don't worry.

Did you see the non pre-reg line last year on saturday =p? Sheesh felt like a general admission concert to me!

I'm 20 and I feel relatively young at Fanime =). Lots of staffers that I hang out with are much older than I am.

You can't tape/staple/attach anything to the walls without prior permission (Which is very unlikely to be approved). They are really against taping =P. Tape = bad for the walls.

Can't we all just hold hands, sing, and hope for world peace together? Or is that a little too much to ask?

On another note, is this said panel going to be happening? I may drop by in between shifts.

Extra money...?  Aren't pre-reg badges cheaper?

Right. Wasn't thinking. I meant to say, worth the extra effort =).

Considering the regs lines...oh boy and we are supposedly going to have a larger con this year than last year.

Not sleeping the whole con put me in a really weird mental state. That said lots of things happened while working SoS/Rovers. You really see some weird stuff.

1) First night, Friday. I caught some people sleeping in the registration area, under the tables. Man, some people...
2) Sunday morning, there was an old (drunk?) cranky guy spewing profanities all over the concourse. It was like 4 a.m. or something, so a bunch of rovers (like 4 - 5 of us) went out to confront him. I've never seen more yaoi stuffed into one persons bag than I saw this guy had. Kinda creepy.
3) We had so many police and paramedics due to like a bunch of people getting seriously drunk, passing out, and becoming unresponsive. Say no to alcohol! Also, you should remember to eat and drink, fainting during con is bad!! But yea, we had a ton of people needing paramedics like saturday and sunday. Totally crazy.
4) Some people managed to somehow sneak into some weird area that was off limits and sleep there. They didn't get caught the first couple days, but eventually, they got caught. People are tricky.

Really, I'd like to see some evidence of this. Me and you meet up at Fanime, and you show me that it works 100% =P.

I'd be fascinated if it works 1/10000 times

Walking around the con patrolling last year, several attendees did walk up to me and tell me of overaggressive and unwanted glomping. Those people were warned it is considered harassment and they seemed to acknowledge it (But I'm sure they just ran off, waited a little bit, and did it again). However, I know Rovers/SOS is pretty stretched cause we have maybe 10 staff per shift working the entire con at any one time with a couple support at base. We have 4-5 shifts and a whole bunch of events (Music Fest, Hentai nights, etc.), which leaves us pretty stretched for people. I worked almost the entire con straight last year just cause we really needed people out and about. If you want to help stem the problem a little bit, educating the attendees to report the badge numbers of the unwanted glompers go a long way. Cause that can get sent to those working the concourse from base and they can be on the lookout, and if they are caught doing it again, then more than likely can be removed since he/she is a repeat offender. Also, if you go to con-ops to file a report, it'd help too. I think a couple people were removed last year for sexual harassment after it was reported to con-ops and the guys were found.

General Convention Discussion / Re: Sign Question

This is a tough one. It borderlines sexual harassment/"proposals"

However, if you do go through with this (after finding out if it is i okay of course), I must see for myself the responses =). I think it'd be kinda funny.

Edit: Although, yea it can be kinda creepy. Jail bait ftl!

If you don't get la vics with orange sauce, you are sadly missing. In fact, in half an hour after my class as SJSU, I'm going to go get a burrito. Mhm...
#1053
ROFL, I'd like to see that. I'll consider bringing a watermelon!

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Parking???
March 19, 2008, 07:59:13 AM
I used my SJSU Parking permit and parked in 7th street garage. It so works =). I recommend it for SJSU people.

Another thing, the one on San Carlos next to MCDonald's is pretty awesome, its a fairly large garage so it doesn't fill up easily.

I am already staffing for Rovers/SoS. But if needed, you may contact me during my shifts (Which usually is the whole day) and I can help fix computers that break.

I will already have a entire tool/computer testing kit with me for the SoS staff, so It wouldn't be hard for me to walk over and help you guys out.

Staff & Volunteers / Re: WANTED: Rovers for Fanime08
March 19, 2008, 01:22:41 AM
Honestly, you see a lot of the con life that you don't see as an attendee as a Rover. I attended for several years before roverdom. Or SOSdom now? Meh!

Can't really explain what it is, you just gotta try it. And work 72 hours (almost consecutively) straight like me =D (I crashed Monday). It's really that fun.

I think you're reading a little too deeply into what Steve_Young is saying, its not so much a philosophy and approach as it is a general jaded attitude to not get your panties in a knot every time something bad happens and approaching volatile relationship situations knowing that its never the end of the world. Haha it's usually a guy thing, don't take it too literally  :D

I think I should just change the title of my philosophy so other girls don't get on me for me being a complete jerk. Something like "Dont get your panties in a bunch philosophy" or "That's just life philosophy". I might get less hostile reactions than "shit happens".

Oh well, miscommunication's happen. Shit happens, I'm over it. I like Ice Cream Cake. Anyone else?

P.S. Some corny lines
"Did it hurt? When you fell from heaven?"
"Now fuck me if I'm wrong, but is your name chuck?"
"Do you have a map? Cuz Honey, I just keep gettin lost in your eyes."
"Do you have a band-Aid? Cos I just scraped my knee falling for you. "
"Is your dad in jail? Cuz he stole the stars and put them in your eyes."

For a second I thought you were referring to Dennys and Claim Jumper as classy and upscale. Scared me for a second
