Well, things changed, going to Wondercon Saturday and Sunday, hope to see yous guys there~! Saturday I'm cosplaying Leeloo Dallas and Sunday cosplaying Reno from Before Crisis FF7 most likely.

I might go but I can't be 100% sure since I'm in SF.

Would it be alright if I post this on the Nor-Cal Conventions Facebook? We have over 160 members and I'm sure those who are in the SJ area would like to know about this. That is if it's alright, I won't post it otherwise.

Ah, my turn I think. Two things...

1.) Paperweight/Paperweight-Cardboard items.

2.) 1 is a katana like cardboard item and it's black, it's not finished yet and a friend's making it for me. However because it is cardboard I would not want to attach it to my back or zipped to my side in fears that it may very well get damaged. It does not have a sheath because the character doesn't call for one (Black Rock Shooter) and I am short 5'4" so zipping it to my back or my side may cause issues of dragging it on the ground or making it difficult to get through doorways if attached to my back.

3.) Current work in progress here of my paperweight pistol: http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/089/6/2/Korbens_Pistol_WIP2_Side2_by_koke_momo.jpg I will be painting the tip and butt of the gun orange, just wanted to make sure that it's alright.

4.) Because both of these are paperweight/cardboard I was very worried about their durability with the ziptie. I don't know how true it is; however I have heard things from previous attendees of how ConOps zips the weapons quick and tight. Is it alright if I ask if it's a bit looser? Not to the point of falling off but not where it's completely snug because I /am/ worried about the fact that these are paperweight props.

I probably won't participate but I'll certainly watch. I'll see you all there on Sunday~

Not sure I'll attend, Sunday I plan on cosplaying Stein since Friday and Saturday kind of require me to cosplay from 5th Element and BRS (since I have a meet up on Friday and can't be arsed to switch out of Stein for Friday... Too hard to switch back and forth with that cosplay). That being said I may or may not attend on Sunday... I really don't know very good poses for Stein. I'll think on it though.

I may attend; If I do attend I'll probably dress in Kodona in a newspaper boy type outfit rather simplistic but yeah. X3
#187
Registered and... I'll only be attending on Saturday
#188
I'll most likely end up being Reno Before Crisis Version, and my boyfriend will be cosplaying Vincent Valentine Turk Version. X3 Hope to see you all there~!
#189
Ah and my boyfriend confirmed that he will be cosplaying BRS Kaito. X3
#190
Hoping I can attend, I haven't registered yet but that's mainly because I'm in the works of possibly getting a job. If I still don't have a job then I guess I'll be attending all three days haha.

I would suggest wearing little shorts, like white bike shorts, or a color to match your men's shirt. I don't see the issue otherwise.

Really hoping BRS will be finished in time for WonderCon, if not I'll definitely be cosplaying her by Fanime. ^^

Just in case I was unclear earlier - I was not in any way suggesting anyone ask the hotel staff to circumvent deposits. What I suggested that she ask, and that the hotel would likely be amenable to, was to make a note ahead of time that she would be checking in with one credit card but paying with another. It was in reply to the "see if I can put the hold on another credit card or something" part of the statement.

Yeah that's about right, using one credit card for deposit, the other for the actual payment. ^^

Jerry: I've only just started hosting these events. The first event was this past weekend and I had about 30-40 people. It's a social-networking gathering type of thing. So yes, currently random meet & greet and photo ops. I'm hoping to expanding it later if I can find more events that people are interested in and won't burn a hole in the pocket.

Also I do have pictures of previous meetups. You can check the facebook group-page here several members have submitted pictures... I haven't gotten around to it. I've been exhausted since my first hosting meetup lol. http://tinyurl.com/norcalconventionsfb

Our next meetup will be at the Embarcadero Fountain/Center so it's a lot of nice photo op areas that aren't normally possible at conventions. Ie: Piers and what not. However our last one was at Japan Town I'm trying to branch away from just J-Town.

Kertus: We've got 13 confirmed people already. ^^ As for the date, I am aware that it's the same day as the Cherry Blossom Festival, but that spans two weeks. We cannot host it during Wondercon or the CBF, Leaving us with only two dates the 10th or the 17th. The 18th is the date of the CBF parade and I do not want to conflict with it.

We've already gone to Japan Town this past March and we'd like to host the meetup in different places and not attend the same place every month. Thank you for the concern though~! But I've felt that this was the best date in part to people maybe not wanting to go to Japan town twice in one month and three times within two months.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: fairmont san jose?

Honestly it depends on the room. If you're getting a single bed that you'll be sharing with your significant other or something it's only 2-5$ more than say the Hilton or Marriott. However -_- I'm also dealing with a deposit issue with dealing with the Fairmont, apparently the Hilton and Marriott are cheaper for the deposit. Make sure you look into fees and what not. Fanime's Housing didn't even mention deposits.

I asked the fairmont and this is my reply. (I emailed because my phone had died and I really wanted to know)

Fairmont:
"If a deposit is taken for your reservation, the information on the amount should be provided on the website where it was booked." Meaning Fanime Housing website. I was also told to contact the website which I booked on.

This is what I was told by Fanime Housing:
"If you are referring to the deposit that the hotel request when you check in, that will be $100 per day whether you pay in cash or swipe a credit or debit card. This $100 per day is in addition to the cost of your room."

They also told me the hotels don't usually do this. So I have no idea and I think I'm going to verbally call them this time.

...But Fanime's site never said anything about deposits. -_- I'm really not liking this even more now.

michiko nakano : Ugh see that's what I'm worried about. I honestly don't think it's right that it's 100$ per night and that's charging nearly maxing out our credit card. How is this even legal if hotels don't normally do this? I'm even more frustrated now than I was before.

I'll be attending; with hopes of Black Rock Shooter. It's getting much closer now but I'm still waiting on my commissioner (whose my best friend) to finish BRS's coat.

I'm just going to throw this out, I don't know how well it'll take but... My boyfriend and I plan on cosplaying from the French Animation "Wakfu".

I have plans of cosplaying Evangenlyne and my boyfriend Grovy, is anyone else attending? I should be cosplaying this on Saturday most likely.

If there's enough interest I'd be willing to set up a gathering perhaps~
