This will be my third time going.  I really love Music fest and I hope they have another metal band play this year.

My friends and I are from Sacramento, one of them has gone for the past three years.  This is my third time around to FanimeCon.

Well, I wanted the opinion from people who have actually stayed there before but thanks for the websites.  If anyone can give me their stay experience it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I just wanted to know what kind of hotel this was because I reserved a room there for me and three other friends.  All comments welcome as I would like to know what to expect in advance.

Your club should make an effort to contact the ARC Anime and Games club.  My email is [email protected]

Quote from: "Itachi no Jutsu"How much would a tower room cost? I'm considering getting one for next year =D
$139 dollars a night before taxes.

Getting a tower room is no problem, especially since I usually reserve the room at least two months in advance.  When I reserved earlier in the year there were quite a few tower rooms still open.
I plan everything ahead and I am gathering information for next year's trip so that when FanimeCon approaches I merely have to check off a list instead of scramble like a chicken with it's head cut off.
I figure asking questions about a room and the food is better here, as asking attendees is will get me less biased results than a phone operator whose job it is to sell me the room rental.
I am considering the tower rooms and asking about the quantities and qualities of food because space is always an issue in the car we drive; we had five in the car this year.  In order to consider the logistical implications of our trip and be able to plan our group budget, so we have more pocket money for the trip, I ask these questions so that we can improve our budget for the coming year and maybe any future road trips we may have.
Thanks for all the info everyone!!  I hope to see everyone next year and hopefully I have enough money this year to cosplay, I want to buy a King Bowser suit.

Quote from: "Nina Star 9"i stayed int eh tower rooms.

i pretty much lived off of the food i took out of the breakfast bar throughout the day. i also think we still ahve some cans of cranberry juice from the bar laying around here somewhere... XD

how bad was the wait at the marriott this year? i think ti was pretty bad at the hilton, but probably nothing in comparison... o-o

another good thing about the tower rooms is that you pretty much get an elevator to yourself when you enter to leave your room, which is good if you have a costume that does not take well to crowded spaces and you need that room. however, it takes a while to get an elevator up to your room, as fewer people go up there. >>
You are on my topic of inquiry.  Is the breakfast a buffet?  What is the duration of breakfast?  What is the duration of any other meal they serve if they do have other meals?

Have you tried downloading them from amv.org?

What kind of suites does the Mariott have?
#35
Do not worry, next time he asks someone may come on his face.  Were you with him every time he asked someone?  Do you remember a Mexican and white in the the elevator?

I lost my prescription glasses somewhere in the Hilton, other then that I had a blast!

Quote from: "kam_islash"Otakus are not terrorists.
Interested in Japanese culture, not muslim culture
Wooden swords are not bombs.
A person trying to hurt someone with a sword is easily subdued, especially if mor epeople around him have swords.
Furthermore, you can't hijack a convention center and crash it into a building.

Fanime had no right to use 9-11 as an excuse for peace tying because anime and game swords have absolutely nothing to do with terrorism.
Awefully racist of you to claim that all terrorist are Muslim.

General Convention Discussion / Was FanimeCon...?

Not to go off topic but there is a reason that cinco de Mayo is celebrated in America.  That is because if Mexico did not fight so fiercely and tie up the French invasion of their own country, the US would have been next.  Considering the US was fighting a civil war, I would think that it would not like fighting against a French backed South.
This type of research is more sociological than anthropological.  Seeing that it spans more than one culture and seeks to find the consequences of a foreign culture intergrating into American society.

I would like to know if the tower rooms are worth it.  My friends and I did not get one this year but are considering one for next year.  What type of amenities do they offer?  Did anyone say in one of those rooms?

Quote from: "madmanlotar"I had fun ping-ponging in the Mosh itself.  My friend Mike went a little crazy and smashed into the crowd.  It was a blast.  I weigh about 260lbs, my friend mike weighs close to 400lbs and used to play American Football, so you can imagine the power behind his bullrush.
My crazy friend would also shout for bands to hurry up and let Uphold get on the stage.

See, this kinda pisses me off. As a small female weighing about 125lbs, I wouldn't feel safe if guys who towered over me and weighing over 100lbs more than me were moshing around me. If your friend hit me, he could very well cause a lot of damage, so I can imagine how much damage he could cause some girls weighing a bit over 100lbs. That's not ok. He could really have hurt someone and it doesn't seem like it even matters to you or your friend. Please take care in the future to watch where you're moshing and who you're hitting.

And shouting on stage to hurry up doesn't do anything other than annoy people. The bands go by their play list and having people say that you should hurry up and have another band get up there really speaks of impatience and intolerance for other music. Please be nicer to the guests, they want to feel wanted and appreciated.

I thought moshing wasn't going to be allowed because of injuries and stuff? Besides, a lot of fans came to listen to music, not to mosh and get injured. Otaku generally sit around watching anime all day...they're not really in shape, and knocking one over will probably kill them. lol jk. Anyway, I think it's rude and immature to shout at the bands to hurry up so another band could play. And what happens if they did hurry up? Would they speed through their songs and make them sound crazy-hyper-fast? lol. Anyway, my point is, if you wanted to only see UpHold, you should have waited one day to go see them at Stage One instead of going to MusicFest. And since you and your friend were stupid enough to go to MusicFest and watch everyone, you should have tolerance for our guests. no one forced your friend to go to MusicFest. You guys could have gone and waited outside and come back later or something.

Why would we want to wait until all the bands were through to see Uphold; we enjoyed ourselves.  Besides, he did not shout until the band finished its set.   We did not start the mosh, we merely ended it.  I find it stranger that small people would be standing up in front during the death metal band.  I find it just as stupid for people to just stand still and zombie through a death metal set.  I enjoyed all the bands, and plan on watching them next year as well.  By tolerance to guest, are you referring to the bands or the attendees?  I am sure that the bands cared less since they enjoy any attention they can get and as for the attendees, anyone who was there apparently did not mind.
If there is to be any complaint, I would say that the staff was pretty incompetent at letting people in initially.  If they were counting people at the door, it would have been more effective to use a number clicker instead of having people counting with their fingers.
