Anyone get it? A couple of my friends and I did, I think it's just from being around all the people at con, then sharing food/drink and squishing together to sleep.

If you did get sick, my sympathies.

Sore throat Monday night and then full blown sickness from there. Still kind of fighting off the cough and sniffles. Was funny though, because I never came across anyone else who was sick, that I had noticed. >.<

Unfortunately, by the time many illnesses have reached a phase where they're apparent they aren't very infectious anymore. D: The most infectious time is right before the symptoms show up, so any friend you hug or glomp or any cosplayer you take a photo with might be walking bacteria factory. No matter how healthy they look, the more people you come into contact with the more careful you need to be about your health.

Hotel and Facilities / Re: Your Hotel Stay- 2010
June 06, 2010, 12:14:49 AM
Where: Fairmont 18th Floor
Good or Bad?: Fantastic
Again: Yes, though I'm considering the Hilton next year. That mini-fridge is tempting...

This was my group's third year staying at the Fairmont, and we had just as good of an experience as we had the last two years. The rooms are fairly spacious, the beds are comfortable with lots of extra pillows and blankets. Our room was /right/ next to the ice machine, but we never heard a sound from it. We did wind up running out of toiletries at one point, but when we called housekeeping about it they brought us more very promptly. And the view from the 18th floor was -fantastic-. The hotel staff was very kind, as well. I actually think that the fairmont is just the right distance from the convention center - it's not a tiring distance but it gives one an excuse to get a bit more exercise.

I was really afraid of getting ill this year. Dealers and Artist's are extra prone to it because we're constantly handling other people's money and shaking hands in addition to the hugging, glomping, and pushing through crowds that regular attendees have. (I'm sure staff have it about the same way, though. Especially people doing reg!) But I made sure to keep hand sanitizer on me at all times and used it pretty much every time after I came into contact with someone - came out of it all perfectly healthy! :D I think next year I might come with a big bottle of sanitizer for people to use, or possibly hand out travel-sized bottles.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. ^^ It makes me happy to know it makes you think of good memories.

Sorry. ^^; I'm still setting the etsy shop up. It should be ready by the end of the month.

No cosplay, though I was in a Star Trek uniform on saturday. I was there all four days - barely did anything else at the non >_<

I'm really sorry guys! D: I was literally right in front, and I tried to point my lip balm out to everyone who came by.
#28
I was right up near the staff table. ^^; I didn't have a huge display, and the people behind me had a gigantic one so you probably walked right by without realising it.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by! :) Thanks to the lip balm, I was very close to breaking even this year. I'm now working on getting that etsy shop and the new flavours ready, but I have a question. I have to order some more lip balm tins, and now that I have a bit of money from the AA I have the option of instead ordering tins with threaded tops. Would you guys prefer that? They're a little more expensive than the regular ones, but very fancy. :P

[Answering for our Fan Services Director since she's busy studying] This is a huge gray area that we're hoping to better answer for FanimeCon 2011.
I imagine this will apply to my lip balm as well?

There were two people, to my knowledge, selling chain mail stuff this year. One was my bud sparks, http://sparksmcghee.deviantart.com/ , and the other was this dude: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Sneath . I think they both had rubber/metal bracelets, but of different styles. Hope that helps. :)

I sold Lip Balm this year in the artist's alley, and my table was literally right in front of the staff table. ;) So I'd imagine cosmetics and soaps are alright. Make sure your cosmetics follow FDA Labeling regulations, though. http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/CosmeticLabelingLabelClaims/CosmeticLabelingManual/ucm126444.htm#clgk

Ohhh! I think I was at your booth! And thanks very much =D
No problem. :D Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about labeling regulations and stuff. xD I spent a long time studying them while I was preparing for Fanime this year.

Where will you be setting up your booth??
Dealer's Hall?

Quote from: darkkako on April 30, 2010, 02:18:22 PMI'll have around thirty tins of these in the Artist's Alley

I've been recently confirmed for table 240. :)
#35
I will hopefully have enough for everyone. ^^ If I sell out, I'll have an etsy shop with them available by the end of June. :) I'll give a special discount to people who came to fanime but couldn't get any.
#36
Thanks. :D I just got confirmed for table number 240.
#37
My initial goal price was $3 a tin, but at this point I'll actually be losing money if I charge that. ): It'll probably be $4 or $5 per tin, and hopefully in the future I'll find a way to drop it down to $3. I'm glad you guys like it! :)
#38
By FDA regulations, there is an ingredient list on the bottom of the tin. It's all-natural, and the only semi-common allergen in it is cocoa butter which I warn people about when I give it to them :)

Here's the ingredient list: White Cocoa Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea Oil, Avacado Butter, Castor Oil, Emu Oil, Mango Butter, Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, Tamanu Oil, Flavor, Vitamin E Acetate

Thanks very much, everyone. :3 AuroraDreamer - At least you can probably grab a busineses card, so you can find out when the non BL flavours are released. :)

Thanks! I look forward to seeing you. :)
