I've told the powers that be that you all demanded 'girl-fitted' shirts among other apparel (not related to this).
;)
Thanks a lot. ^^

Haha, the powers. Makes it sound so... superior.

As long as they aren't in only pink...god I hate pink. teal, baby blue, preferably white or black. Shirts can be a very nice thing to have.

Yes, black please. NO PINK.

Thirded. ^^;;

Registration / Re: Badge Pick up
October 28, 2007, 12:20:11 AM
It's not state issued at all. o.0
Some just don't allow it. Staff is supposed to only allow state issued id only, but some just let it slide because a lot of kids don't have state-issued.

EDIT: Uh, wait. Maybe this year they're going to let school i.d.s be acceptable form of id. o.0 The 2008 FAQ doesn't say anything about state issued this year.

Registration / Re: Badge Pick up

Although registration staff does allow it, they'd rather have a state-issued ID. A passport would be optimal and can avoid hassle. However, some staff who do pre-reg do not allow it. I wouldn't take chances. >.<;
But if you had a school i.d. and had to pick up your badge [and the staff let you], your name should absolutely match what is on your school i.d. You would also tell your personal information to the staff to confirm that you are you.

Big Event Showcase / Re: Black And White Ball 2008

Last year's BWB was pretty fun, I have to say. I'm looking forward to next years'. ^^
However, I was unable to attend the class. D: I know for quite a lot of people, they didn't appreciate having conga lines and such, since it disrupted the environment of "elegance". Hopefully though, next year will be fun and I'll be able to attend the lessons. ^^

Staff & Volunteers / Re: Staff position
October 25, 2007, 06:03:26 PM
Registration can also use some people, always. ^^
You still have until May [April-ish] to sign up for a staff position, and the next meeting for Staffing is November 11, same place, same time [although the room can be tentative]. Quite a few departments will recruit closer to the Con, around Jan-March time. No need to freak out about it now. ^^

Yes, any kind of government issued photo i.d. is perfectly acceptable. [Drivers licence, state ID cards, passport... ]

Well, your sister can present her passport, parents don't necessarily have to be there to pick it up.
[[ Some people for pre-reg are nice to let young students pick up their badges with a school i.d. However, it's not a 100% thing.]]

Your sister has to be present though, no one else can pick up her badge for her. ^^;;

Staff & Volunteers / Becoming a Volunteer
September 01, 2007, 04:22:45 PM
Quote from: "sakuranoyuki"Is there an age minimum for volunteering? I really want to volunteer, so I have a little extra cash to spend at Fanime. (I only have about $15 a day at 07)
I forget what it is for volunteering, but I know that for staff, they'd like you to be at least 16. [although you don't have to be]

I think they allow 13 yrs and up with parental permission, but I may be lying. >.<

[[ I'm totally reiterating things, but those are what I'd seriously bold, underline, and emphasize ]].

-If you're planning on staying there, please DON'T sleep in the halls... it's really weird and it's hard for some attendees to go across the halls. It's creepy, too. *shudder*
-As previously stated, shower.
-Don't take pictures of any kind of art unless you have permission from the artist [assuming you're in the artist alley]. Don't take pictures of cosplayers unless you ask them first. Some people really don't like their pictures taken without permission... and you might get a shouting [I'm serious].
-Pocky ain't that important, but bring food there... there isn't much to eat if you're planning to stay, and even during the day, it's either overpriced, you won't know where anything is around that area [unless you're convinced you have a good sense of direction], or it's already seriously crowded.
-Yes, get some sleep. If you don't and you suck/never pulled an all nighter before, you'll basically die and... well, burn.
-Make a LIST with the times and names of panels and events and such that you want to watch.
-If you're in cosplay, try not to bring a lot of things with you, especially in a bag unless you have to. It sucks putting down your stuff to take a picture constantly. If you can, try stashing it somewhere in your cosplay or have a bag that would be consistent with your cosplay [but avoid it]. Or have a friend carry it for you.
-I'd suggest to bring $200 if you're not planning on buying much. I spent about $175 on random things from the Dealers plus food and arcade.
-Get your cosplays commissioned/tailored from you. Ebay is your friend. [Usually around $100-150 for the good ones].

General Convention Discussion / Pokemon Cards

I have cards, but I don't know how to play it... I just have them solely to collect. ^^;; Sorry.

fighter_for_hire- At least you're not on the brink of being half naked. ^^;;

Stand? Why would you need to stand on it? :/
Unless you're actually going to stack other costuming blocks of people on your cosplay, you wouldn't need to stand on it.

You can cut holes for your legs, you know. That's how they usually do it. >.>

I'll have trouble making Soifon's Suzumebachi. =.=
I still have like, 8 or something months, though. More than enough time to make it.

Hmm, I think I'll make a Kon doll if I have enough time [and money], too. :3

I haven't personally bought from them, but this website has really good cosplays. :3

Not very much selection, but they do commissions.

Brinstar: Since you moved to the Bay Area, go to one of the staff meetings when they come up and go to a head of a department and ask if you can join. ^^ My friend did that for Registration and was accepted. :3 If you could, try to register and apply a few months at least before a convention if you can't make the meetings. [That's how I got my invitation. :3 ]
