I agree... On changing the nature of the show. I believe that the nature of the show has significantly changed almost every year I've been in it.

As a note, by "changing the nature of the show" when I said it above, I meant that we are not going to change it to be "all skits" or "first fashion show, then skits" as it's just impossible to do that being that you get a mixed bag of entries when people register. Also, I'm not willing to change the show by screening entries first to pre-judge if people are worthy to be in the performance -- that's just not fair. This is supposed to be for fun.

I totally agree. I just tend to randomly throw possibilities out there in the hope that they may inspire more and greater ideas. :p

It's almost an unavoidable factor, when venue, cast, crew, or administration are changed. One would be hard-pressed to call this year's Masquerade a similarly natured-show to last year, especially if one was in both, and further pressed to say that last year's was extremely similar in nature to, say, the first year at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Changing the nature of the show is a process of constant trial and error and, hopefully, an overall improvement for all involved.

'Black Mage Wrestlemania' was also a sequel to a skit we (Team Flex) put on in 2003. ^_~

The easiest and best way to do that is to find enough of the subject matter, find people to run the room/sponsor it (remember, all of the subject matter has to be legally acquired) and to make a proposal to the powers that be.

Perhaps instead of a 2-minute time limit you could hold tryouts. That would seem more practical to me. Having staged and been in several skits myself I'll say that two minutes is a very, very short amount of time. Three is too, but at least it's more practical.

No because not all of the "bishies" are omg beautiful, a lot of it are doing it for the attention. The no is in disagreement that itd be hard to find girls to do it, there are plenty of meh looking girls who I'm sure would love the attention... example: girls who wear cosplays that arent best for their body type... need attention perhaps? yeah.  
Main point: It wouldn't be too hard.

I agree completely with E-chan on all counts in this case. Showing 'Lolicon' items, which are a form of Hentai which is often not legal to show in public places because it involves sex with underage individuals, has really no place at Fanime.

Well we have to keep in mind that the Yaoi stuff is backed by Yaoi-con. There was once a Yuricon but it was very, very shortlived. Yaoi also has the advantage of those of us who are bishies being willing to do the live programming portion of it. It may be a little harder to find Yuri girls.

The best way I can describe the dealings of the Marriott with my companions and myself is complete incompetence.

First, they didn't bother actually checking our reservation in their system when we arrived, but just took a look at the number and immediately (incorrectly) stated that we had a reservation for the Hilton, forcing us to pack everything up and head over to the Hilton.

Second: The Hilton basically said "No. They're idiots," and sent us back to the Marriott (after calling them and explaining how to use the reservation lookup system to the incompetent desk-staff).

Third: When we got back to the Marriott, it took them a half-hour to process us in and then they ended up double-charging the room to our credit cards.

Fourth: They completely, COMPLETELY ignored the "Do Not Disturb" tags at all times.

There's a significant connotation difference between 'Gosurori,' the term describing Mana's clothing line that started the whole craze, and 'Rorikon,' which refers to the Lolita Complex. Gosurori has no more of a negative connotation than cosplay does. Rorikon is a form of pedophilia. One is a fashion style. The other is a fetish.

I think that the official Fanime Goth Loli thing is, as mentioned, Saturday at 1:30. It seems that there is also ANOTHER Goth Loli thing on SUNDAY at 1:30 at the fountain. o_O

The -official- time, as of yesterday at 4:33PM is Sunday at 1:30PM (That's the photoshoot. I dunno about a tea party or anything this year)

Edit: I THINK that said official time is not Applesugar's. I found it on the CA_EGL community. Is clarification possible? My outfit's full Sweet Lolita and is darn hard to get in and out of so the more time I can plan, the better :3

Edit 2: Woot. Actually reading the thread helps, Lin. The person who I can only assume is applesugar on the Ca_egl livejournal community has announced that her photoshoot is 1:30PM on Sunday.

I myself will try to get to both. :p My outfit will be a pink outfit (Edit 3: Brand is Lucky Pinky. I keep forgetting the name) and I myself will hopefully look better than last year. (I was the blonde boy in the black and white dress, cat ears, and PVC jacket)
