I see. Well, I'm gonna enter right away this weekend; 5/12/ - 5/15 sees me out of town for my cousin's wedding at Lake Arrowhead in SoCal, so I have to enter this week, before I leave. X.x god its hard to load up my iPod for a trip like that. @.@

I guess Phantasy Star Portable 2/PSPo2 Infinity isn't all that popular? X.x Well how about Valkyria Chronicles 1, Valkyria Chronicles 2 or Valkyria Chronicles 3? or BlazBlue Calamity Trigger/Continuum Shift I/Continuum Shift II? Or even Arcana Heart 1/2/3?

5:00 overall? Damn that rules out Liberi Fatali or Aria di Mezzo Carattere for the contest. Though, I think the latter is better suited for a masquerade skit. X3

Hmmmm, this is rather random, but would you be open to brief songs sung in Latin, such as some of the things FF is famous for?

If they're from FF that'd be fine.

That's cool; I've been toying around with the idea of performing the Aria di Mezzo Carattere at Open Mic...given I've heard rumblings of a FFVI 3DS remake in the future.

Let's add some of the older works:

Twilight by Electric Light Orcestra (DAICON IV & Densha Otoko)
Eien no Iczer-1 (Iczer-1 OVA)
Psycho Soldier, from the arcade game of the same name
The Black Mages' song "Darkness and Starlight" (Their version of the FFVI Opera, for open mic)
The recent Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy concert performance of "Dancing Mad" (the way it should have been recorded, IMHO)
Utau Oka from Ar tonelico
Liberi Fatali

These may sound like unusual requests (as two of the songs are in Latin), but I think they would be good for open mic.

I look forward to this year's contest...but here's a rather unusual question: Are songs originally ripped from LP records allowed?

This one is mainly console, but if you can get enough people, why not have an online multiplayer run for Phantasy Star Portable 2? I'm a member of the PSO World fan community and I think I can try to organize some people to get on.

What about if you're singing a song from an old, very obscure anime that no one except a few loyal and dedicated fans of the work have likely heard of?

FanimeCon 2011 will mark my tenth anniversary since I first came to FanimeCon in 2001, and I have something very special planned for karaoke next Memorial Day...I'm not leaking any secrets though...

I sang my heart out this year with "TSU BA SA", a song I have rehearsed for ten years to perform when LUNAR hit the big 10 year milestone. As a sneak preview for next year, in honor of the 25th anniversary of Ys and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show (Rest In Peace Lou Albano, bless your soul), I will have more tributes up my sleeve.

What will you hear? What will I be performing in 2011? Only time will tell my friends. Only time will tell.

I saw there's an Super Mario Bros. 1 speedrun tournament this year!

That's a tournament that's right up my alley. I've been playing that game since I was 2 years old. I'm 26 1/2 now, so that means I've got over 24 years worth of experience on this one game. I look forward to this tournament a great deal.

However, I have a prior engagement at the karaoke contest, so I MAY or MAY NOT be entering the speedrun tournament, depending on if I make it to the karaoke finals or not. But should I enter, I believe I may provide a formidable challenge for you all.

Thanks for the list. Now to practice...not that I don't practice year-round in all my spare time. ^.~

"LUNAR: Silver Star Story",- "TSU BA SA"

"Sakura Taisen", -, "Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan".

I youtubed Tsubasa, what a nice song, so free flowing.

I love Sakura Taisen! that would be awesome to see you sing that!

I hope to make it to the final round, and I'll perform it at open mic again, so keep your eyes open...btw, Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love for PS2 has a Japanese voiceover disc, milkychu, recommended.

Hello everyone, Shiro Kusanagi here, and I'm back for a third straight year in the contest. This year, I'm going to be perfomring tributes to a pair of video game franchises that I feel stand out as all-time greats.

For the preliminary round, I will be paying tribute to a game that I rank as my favorite RPG of all time, EVEN ABOVE FINAL FANTASY VII. The game is the classic "LUNAR: Silver Star Story", and to pay tribute, I will be performing the opening theme, "TSU BA SA" as originally rendered by game heroine Luna's seiyuu, Kyoko Hikami.

Should I make it into the finals, I will be performing a song that has gone from famous to iconic over the 15 years since its debut along with its franchise. This series has spawned a main series of six video games, along with six anime OVAs, an anime TV series, a movie, and more than ten years' worth of live-action musicals as well as a cafe themed on the franchise over in Shibuya.

This series is none other than the legendary Sega Saturn classic "Sakura Taisen", and to pay tribute to this great series for its 15th anniversary, as well as to celebrate the first release of a Sakura Taisen game here in the United States (AT LONG LAST!), I will be performing the first game's legendary opening, "Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan".

This is another odd request, mostly because I'm just so damn old-school...but what about retro arcade games, such as Asteroids, Defender, Space Invaders, DK, Mario Bros. Centipede, Galaga, etc.?

A very very VERY special request is Gradius, the original arcade game. That holds a special place in my heart.

(Side note: I know for sure that XEVIOUS, Salamander (related to Gradius), and Galaga all had anime spinoffs.)

Are songs from the various tokusatsu series (i.e. Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Metal Heroes, Kikaider, etc.) also eligible to enter?

The rules state: "Songs must be from the following categories: Anime, video game, or J-rock/J-pop."
Therefore, no on "tokusatsu" songs that don't have an anime/video game tie-in.
Well, I know that iDOLM@STER's covered "Let's Go!! Rider Kick" from Kamen Rider on one of their radio shows...seeing as I 've followed that series regularly. This is kind of off-topic, but have people performed any iM@S songs in the karaoke contest before yet?

If you guys could get a hold of it....iDOLM@STER.

You probably get this every year, but are songs from the various tokusatsu series (i.e. Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Metal Heroes, Kikaider, etc.) also eligible to enter?

This also applies to songs from the various live-action Sakura Taisen musicals over the years (i.e. Sakura Taisen Kayou Show, Sakura Taisen Super Kayou Show, etc.)

If it has a clear anime/video game tie-in (such as Sakura Taisen, Sailor Moon, etc) then it should be fine.

OK, but as I said, what about tokusatsu songs, such as Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, or Let's Go!! Rider Kick?
