After months of hard work and frighteningly soft hands, I've finally completed my big project for the year: Anime Lip Balms!

http://darkkako.deviantart.com/art/Shonen-Ai-Lip-Balm-162419588

They're completely handmade. I measured the ingredients, added and tested the flavours, distributed them amongst tins, and even designed and stuck on the labels myself. I'm going to be releasing new flavours in sets of three, the current shonen-ai theme is just a test run. The current flavours are Uke (Sugar), Seme (Spiced Orange), and Yaoi (Strawberry). All three smell fantastic. (And the Uke even sparkles. :3) Once I'm sure this project has merit, I'm going to release Shonen (Vanilla), Shojou (Chocolate), and Moe (Either Cherry or Melon). :3 I'll have around thirty tins of these in the Artist's Alley this year, and by the end of June I should have an etsy shop with them available.

Please let me know what you think, and if you have any flavour suggestions/requests just say so. :D

Update: I now have the Etsy shop up! http://www.etsy.com/shop/PiraticalArtist

I have the space, but I'm kind of a bit worried about having a tablemate this year. ^^; I had some really awful experiences with my tablemates last year, but I also don't want to spend the whole weekend alone at a table. I'd like to chat with you a bit before deciding, but I can probably share mine. What sort of art will you be selling?

Hey Eric, would we be able to get a copy of the contract that is separate from the reg process? I'd like to be able to go back and reference it later, but that doesn't appear to be an option once one has finished registering.

What Elimeno said is correct, but you can usually simply leave the landlord information blank. Since you're just selling at an event, they don't really expect  you to know who the actual landlord for the convention center is.

I'm pretty sure Yaoi Bingo was 17+.

Er... are you sure it's not just your local BoE office? I didn't run into any trouble or complaints when I got my permit, and that was back at the end of January.

When I was a minor and attempting to get an Artist's Alley table, the convention I was going to required that my father (he had the permit) be with me to pick up the table, and assure them that he was willing to be legally responsible for the tax information and the things I was selling. I can't promise that Fanime will handle it the same way.

The AA head asked that everyone who had a table and planned to share email her and let her know. It's probably acceptable to include the relevant information on a separate piece of paper when you mail in your contract.

I know where the webpage sleeeeeeeps. I like to watch it at night and write it secret letters. xD

It appears the new contract is now up. ^^

How much of a life would you have to have to be there the second that happend? Hmmm ....lets see multiply the fact that you don't have a life, and dived that by how jobless you are...(hmm for me that's three since I only work three days a week now)
Hmm if I figure correctly that means your fan boy number one in my figure of ten fan girl/boy to write back, and I work my ass off to make limited amount of money, when I do remember to check back on a convention that has failed to update for over four months on artist alley since they have posted on the forms. They are so lucky that I forget to check back every day. Cuse I am taking care of myself instead of sitting in front of a computer all day wondering when moms going to bring me my lunch.

Look, this is completely uncalled for. :\ You don't need to attack me for being dedicated. Please don't make assumptions about me and my life simply because I disagree with you.

On February 16th the information for the AA went up, contract included. Later that day it was taken down as the AA staff realised there were a few things on the contract that they would like to change. The "If you have already downloaded the 2009 contract, fill it and send it in." part is directed at those of us who were on the ball and downloaded the contract the second it went up. When they took the contract down, they reverted the page to its former placeholder state, and thus all of the information regarding the AA was gone as well. But even if the contract isn't currently available, there's no reason to prevent people from preparing themselves by taking the information down. So, though they're still updating the contract, they put the rest of the info back up.

So, to answer your main question, No. That notice does NOT mean everyone who already has a table can sign up again before you. How the hell would that even work, anyways? They were given paper copies of the contract at the end of last year, and if they got a table then they must have already turned it in. Thus, y'know, they wouldn't have a contract.

Don't get your panties in a bunch before you have all of the information. >_<; The AA staff is working very hard to fit extra people in, and the last thing they need is someone yelling at them.

Honestly, Sunrise, everything you said has sounded pretty aggressive and rude to me. But I'd rather avoid drama, so I won't elaborate. Just try to be a little more careful with what you say, the AA staff is working as hard as they can and aren't going to do any better with us constantly stressing them out. ):

As far as I know, the Art Show is a completely different event from the AA and you do not need to be part of the AA to put art in it. It has a seperate page dedicated to it, which has yet to be updated. I'm sure that it's being worked on, though, and the information will be up with plenty of time to spare before the convention.

I honestly can't understand most of your post, but Eric stated in the FAQ that using the 2008 contract is not acceptable. You'll have to wait for the 2009 one to go back online.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Expanded Artist Alley?
February 25, 2009, 05:02:21 AM
(For simplicity's sake, I assume in this post that the fixed fee would be 10% of gross profits. ^^; )
As an artist who is mildly new to artist's alleys, I'd have to say that if this were implemented I would probably be turned off to the idea of selling in the AA. I'll admit that it's a pretty strictly logical plan, and would definitely be a benefit to anyone who projects under a $300 profit for the convention, but there's something kind of daunting about being unaware of how much you'd technically be paying for a table. >_>; Again, the plan is definitely sound but the variable factor causes a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.

Also, I kind of question if the profit gained by the people making >$300 will outweigh the loss caused by the people making <$300. Most artist I know who participate in AAs don't often walk away with a lot of money. So, especially if the higher-grossing artists are driven away by the increased cost for them, fanime could be looking at a net loss rather than a small revenue machine.

The ticketing system you suggested seems arbitrarily complex and, speaking from experience as one who has run carnival games, tiny tickets are much harder to keep an accurate count of than money is. ^^;

QuoteR: how was this possible, I understand you can pre-registered again for less than $40, you can pay them immediatly as well, my question is, HOW was it possible to obtain a table WITHOUT the Boe permit of 2009. If I were to preregistered a table I would have to Sign one for 2009 THIS YEAR and 2010 next year!.
Admittedly, I was wondering about this as well. My best guess is that the contracts were handed out at the end of the con, and people took them home, grabbed a permit the next day, and mailed it off. But I'd be interested to hear how it was actually handled.

If I recall correctly, the address I sent it to was:

Anime Resource Group - Artists Alley 2009 Registration
798 Auzerais Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126

But don't take my word for it. ^^;
#57
Alright. Thanks anyways. ^^;

I don't want to be a bother, but do you have an estimate as to when seating is likely to occur? We don't want to purchase our resources if we don't get the table, but some of the resources for things we're selling may sell out if we wait too long. ):
#59
It was up for a short amount of time. ^^; (Actually, it technically still is up. >_> Nobody removed the link in the registration section of the site.)

I hope the form that was put up is still alright, as I filled it out and mailed it before the information was taken down. >_<

Thank you!
