Regarding sign #2... Did that guy have a death wish or what?

Quote from: "Yukimi"Elfen Lied.

even before i watched the anime, and my guy friend was describing it to me, i already felt pretty nauseated.  still one of my favorite animes though.
I might have to change my vote.  On Sunday I saw the AMV that used footage from Elfen Lied,   and yeah, Pretty disturbing (but now I want to see the series).

Gaming / Handheld gaming room!!!
May 23, 2005, 12:40:21 AM
I currently don't have the Neo Geo Colour, but several independent game stores, and Fry's stores in my area sell them.  Unfortunately, I've never have seen a cable for one.  As For the Nomad, I do have some freinds that are looking for one.  The one I got Sunday is the only one I've seen in years.

I so totaly scored today!  I found one of the "Grail" Items I needed for my videogame collection today.  At a local swapmeet, for the sum of $20.00, I got a SEGA Genesis Nomad, with power supply, two rechargeable batteries, p[ower supply, and a couple of games.  and the best thing, it plays megadrive cartridges without any hacks, or modifications! :D
Does anyone else out there have one of these?

Well, not quite what I'd call most disturbing, but the DVD case is (the sqwishy one with the blood and such in it).

Dealers Room / Asian Film counterfeiting is rampant!
April 22, 2005, 06:40:00 AM
Here's two other culprits I've run accross:
1. The Bi-monthly L.A. Comicbook/Sci-Fi convention held at the Shrine Auditorium, mere miles from Hollywood.  Not only are there bootleg Asian DVD's, I've run accross American, and European films there to (several vendors selling bad PAL transfers of Imortal here).
2. National Productions Computer Fair.  Held on a rotation scheduel iat several locations in L.A.,Santa Barbara, Orange, and San Diego Counties, are several vendors also selling bootlegs.
At Both venues, I've recently seen Kung-fu Hustle, Beck, Tenjo Tenge, and other DVD's not only for sale, but beeing displayed on monitors on the dealer room floor!  Hell, not long after Spiderman was released in the theatres, vendors (I use the term loosely...) were selling bootleg DVD's!
And as far as Comic Con International, how can companies like Geneon, Viz, ADV Films ect. not be aware of bootlegs of their titles being sold in a dealers room that they're displaying therir wares? :?:

General Anime Chat / Beck
April 17, 2005, 10:35:50 PM
You wouldn't belive how many vendors at last weeks L.A. Comic Book, and Sci-Fi Convention were selling bootleg anime DVD's, including Beck.  And it wasn't just last week,  this happens every show (held bi-monthly).  Yet, it still goes on, without anyone being caught.  There are even vendors selling American TV series, and movies there to!  It goes on right in the open, with no effort to conceal their pirated wares.
There are also many vendors selling the same items on the internet.  The problem, there's to much lag time between the Japan broadcast or release, and the time someone picks up a title for distribution here.  No, I don't approve of the sales of these DVD's (especialy seeing the quality of some of the videos), but if there isn't a crackdown on the sales of these disks, it will continue.  It seems od when several Video companies, and studios are located whithin mere miles of this show, that nothing is done about it.
** Okay a bit off topic, but it needed to be said**
...oh, yeah, saw the first episode of Beck, it rocks!

Quote from: "Vanessa"I'd easily pick Kodomo no Omocha, it's damn funny. The first 20 eps are top notch stuff. After that it's kinda, eh....
Yeah, I thought about adding it to my list to, but sometimes it's so tragic/dramatic.
... and how did I forget GTO? (doh!). :x

Okay, We've discussed the most disturbing (non hentai) anime, so on a lighter note, what animes do you find to be very funny?
Personal choices (once again, not in any order)...

Dr. Slump (God! I want to find more of this!)
Excel Saga
Dragon Half OAV's
Jungle wa Itsumo Hale no chi Gu, (esspecialy the first OAV set!)
Azumanga Diaoh

So, what anime do you find funny?

Perfect Blue.  As intense as this movie is thruout, there's that point about ten minutes before the end where you are watching it, and then say..."OH S@#!"   (not givin' it away for those that have not seen it!)

General Anime Chat / Powerpuff Girls Anime Announced

Well, it  does looks kinda neat (The animation looks more like classic Toei animation than what they've done in recent years).  But after watching the Quicktime movie, it looked as if it's Powerpuff Girls in name only (oh yeah, and Mojo JoJo to).   :?

Looking at the screenshots of the opening theme/promo, It's going to rock hard! I'm very happy that they are doing this. Hell, I would even watch it dubbed and I hope they do bring the american voice actors for this. Man, this is going to so kick ass :D I'm going to make an avatar of the last screenshot hehehe :D
If this is real...
I think that you're assuming the show is being done for Japan.  Knowing Toei, the show is probably being done for international distribution, and knowing Cartoon Network, it would'nt be long before it showed up on Kids WB, and Cartoon network. :?

Any suggestions for games to bring?

Things in the Universe / $3 gallon gas
March 20, 2005, 10:20:41 PM
Okay, just to let everyone in on something, That same station has been a  local TV news item the last few days, but the reality is it's a Malibu thing.  Most stations in SoCal arn't charging near that much.  Prices I've seen in south L.A. / Orange county are more around $2.22 to $2.39 per gallon for regular unleaded.  Gas in Malibu, and surrounding areas have always been high.  It's just that because someone is charging in excess of $3.00 that this has been hitting the news (not to say that gasoline is cheap).
#4678
Both.  I've never seen an unopened video game, or rarely a DVD at Gamestop.  I've turned down purchases because the package the try to ring up has been obviousy opened (broken seals).  At least if I go to Game Crazy stores, you know up front that it's open/used.

Quote from: "KyraEnsui"It varies for me. I might get it at my workplace, Tower Records, or Gamestop or Best Buys. It just how I am able to get them will determine how I will get them. Yup.
Gamestop?  That would be the LAST place I'd buy from.  Did you ever notice when you buy something "new" off the shelf, the package is open?
I,ve had freinds buy stuff from them that were supposed to be new, and didn't have inserts, or instructions.

Quote from: "joshness"Until you factor in repair costs =(.. Seriously though, we need to really look into other forms of fuel...  something like this...http://www.globalstewards.org/biodiesel.htm  With all the fast food restraunts in my area, I'm sure they could supply quite a bit of fuel.
Personally, I'm all for hydrogen-powered cars.  The exhaust is harmless, hydrogen is the most plentiful element in the universe, and it won't change how cars handle.  Now all they need to work on is getting the cars out there and H-fuel stations.  What a monumental task. -_-
uh... I hate to tell you this, but hydrogen is not a fuel source per se.  Yes there is a lot of hydrogen on earth, but most of it is either locked up in water, or various hydro-carbons, and is only a small amount of the mass of the planet (Oxygen is the most plentiful, and silicon is the second.  Think silicon dioxide, aka sand).  Now, how do you retrive hydrogen?  Usualy electricity is involved.  A lot of electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels, nuclear power, or hydro-electric, meaning at best, hydrogen is a power storage system.  I know, you're thinking "...hey what about solar, or wind power?", Solar doesn't produce great amounts of current, and isn't very dependble, or cheap to set up.   Wind requires a lot of area to set up windmills, and needs lots of maintanence.  Hydro Electric might be the best bet for supplying power for hydrogen seperation.  and as far as burning cleaner, well it's somewhat cleaner, but unfortunatly, because of the nitrogen in the air, there's still a lot of nitrogen compunds produced during combustion.  Maybe down the road an easier way to aquire hydrogen will be found, but for now, it's neither cheap, or efficent to do so.  Meantime, until I get my hands on a Shizuma drive, I can get by paying the low(???) price of $2.31 a gallon in Anaheim
