Hey all, I have some disconcerting news for anyone in a similar position as me. I decided to go ahead and inquire myself about the possibility of even sharing (in the event that you didn't even make it in time to apply for a table) and send an e-mail to the AA staff.

According to the response

Since you did not apply during the application window, you may not share a table. Sharing tables is not a way to avoid the application deadline.

Really, it seems like it boils down to the staff being overwhelmed with the number of applications and even more so reviewing them in regard to the new AA system's standards. In any case, if you're in the same position as me, I'd recommend you try shooting the staff an e-mail yourself. The above quoted wasn't the first response to my e-mail and to be honest the first reply seemed to imply the opposite. I would just assume that there's a communication problem in general so do your best to reach out to people for valid information, even if assertively so

@belligerent
I'm a Bay Area local so while I haven't quite experienced the ins and outs of doing something like AA on a nationwide scale, I can definitely understand the required preemption there. Thanks for the condolences, maybe we'll bump into each other as fellow hangoutters come con-weekend

@ewu
While I'm tempted to both agree and disagree with you about Fanime's AA participants being an educated and social-savvy bunch because I guess that's a group that was inclusive of myself before 2 days ago but also because I wouldn't want to be so narcissistic as to say that, either way I don't think it really justifies how the registration process went down this year. Every announcement prior to AA was done much before a day prior (general con registration, hotel housing, amv contest submissions, maid cafe, fan panels, etc.). What's more, all of these are still up and available for registration. (Even in a tweet from January 15th regarding Dealers Hall, there's a final tidbit about Artist Alley info coming later.) As belligerent mentioned, the original AA info said that the registration process would be one week as well, but it was truncated to an abrupt 48 hours. So yeah, while people can generally be very attentive when they're serious and committed about doing something, I don't think it's a proper excuse to put less effort into cooperating with them so that things run even more smoothly or to pretty much lie to them.

I certainly thought it strange as well. After finding out about the registration opening (6 hours after it closed), I went and checked the singlular posts posted a day prior on Facebook and Twitter respectively and to my surprise noticed that they both only had about 30 comments/retweets. Seeing as there are almost 300 table slots for AA, I guess it's just a weird occurrence of really low social network usage amongst this demographic. That, or maybe a lot of people have yet to notice those posts at all, after all, it still hasn't been even a week since it first opened. And I guess this time coincides with a lot of Spring Break vacations and whatnot.

Ah right, guess it's never too early to get the request out there though.
Thanks for the responses.

@summerchristmas838
Yeah, somewhere on the guidelines there is some description about joint table sharing, but I don't think it specifies anything about adding an another after securing the table with one person. In any case, glad you're even considering sharing, so please do let me know if you make your mind.
Thanks again~

Hey all,
I seem to have missed the registration period for the Artist Alley and am still feeling a bit resentful about it, really, since I've been on the look out since December and it just happened to pass by in the span of two days, with only a one day prior announcement,
but I digress.
In any case, if there's anyone out there who would be willing to share a table they already have secured, that'd be great news for me. In terms of prior experience, I've table'd at Fanime once before, which was last year, and at AnimeExpo once before too. I wouldn't say I'm too knowledged about it whatsoever, but I loved my first experience enough to really want to give it another go. I didn't have the pleasure of making any friends through the experience so hopefully this request will help me with that additionally.
For some more extensive personal information about myself and some samples of my artwork, you can check out my blog, store and or other domains online

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. How long does it usually take to get the revised copy?

This will be my first time participating in Artist Alley and I'd love to shoot the breeze with a new friend. We can talk art, movies, life, One Piece, and all that glorious whatsodoosey. It'll be like friend speed dating, except the opposite since we're stuck with each other for three days.

Having filed for a seller's permit before obtaining approval for Artist Alley, I'm not sure I entered the exactly correct business location address. I had inputted 150 W SAN CARLOS ST but now it seems the address should rightfully be either 150 W SAN CARLOS BLVD or 435 S. Market St.
Does anyone know if this means I should contact the BOE and have this detail changed or is the Fanime staff not that strict with the Artist Alley check in?

Whoa, not too sure on how effective this will be since apparently there are a lot of others who seem to be in the same position as me, but if I've learned a lot of things from One Piece, (and I have) then one of those things would be to live life with no regrets. So with the will of D. Ace in mind, here goes something better than nothing. Here we go, here we go, here we go.
Fanime 2012 will be the third year I've attended the awesome spectacle consecutively. The first year definitely was an eye-opener to how close a portal there was in my hometown to the anime/manga/etc. community. It was pretty damn amazing seeing cosplayers dominating the streets of downtown San Jose seeing people who had no idea of the culture we take pride in existed bedazzled out of their minds was pretty damn hilarious. The second year I'll admit didn't have the same spark as the first year, but with the addition of that FLOW/LM.C concert it was definitely worth the money paid. I mean, seriously, a convention and concert for only $60.00 at most is an amazing deal especially if it's such a rare event.
Okay so getting to the point, I want to establish a new milestone this year by entering the ranks of the Artists' Alley. I'm a long time art practitioner and aficionado, and even in the past years I walked the Artists' Alley... allies thinking to myself that I perfectly deserved to be apart of this community. And to be honest, I think everyone who wants to deserves it too, which kind of pains me to know that the open seats sold out this year on the very first day registration became open. I was shocked at that, because I thought I was a sure-fire shoe-in if I registered on the first day, but I guess it's not that surprising since the price of the table was boosted up from $20.00 to $70.00.
And so, since by regulation and rules, I have to accept that I didn't register quickly enough, which consequently makes this very request a personal request. And in that fashion, I guess I'll have to make a personal appeal.
My name is Alex. I'm eighteen years old and am currently studying at the University of California, Berkeley. I go by the username l3reezer. My favorite anime/manga series are One Piece, Eureka SeveN, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Fullmetal Alchemist, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, Katanagatari, Fairy Tail, etc. I love the themes of optimism, following your dreams, camaraderie, and I love the employments of making little actions from characters seem just as epic as explosions and great shonen battles, interconnecting things to offer a sense of unity, etc.
In reflection of that, I'm definitely an ambitious person myself. I literally want to do everything the world can offer, especially those of creative aspects. My most important dream is to publish a story/manga/anime I have been writing and keeping on my computer in the form of multiple Microsoft Word documents spanning 30+ pages. But I also want to be make films/videos, start a fashion line, be an artist, be a musician/lyricist, and more.
Relevant to that, if I do so happen to score a lucky opportunity and get a table for the Artists' Alley, I'll be selling prints of my artwork and t-shirts of my anime/manga-themed t-shirt designs. (The idea was inspired by the anime-themed t-shirt designs created by superorange http://www.superorange.net/ and the Japanese-originated Poke'mon 151 t-shirt designs http://profkayton.tumblr.com/post/7834793872/pokemon-151-t-shirt-line-it-is-a-set-of-japanese)
As of now, I have a couple of One Piece t-shirt designs and Rinne no Lagrange t-shirt designs sketched out.
That about sums it up, I suppose. Of course, I'll be willing to pay for portions of the table and whatnot. Sorry for the long read, haha, it's not like this is my blog or anything. But if you did like what you read feel free to follow mine. (http://l3reezer.tumblr.com/) It's also a means of contact or just shoot an e-mail to [email protected]
Thank you~   :D
