I just got my Toph outfit so I am ready to go!

Does anyone know if it's allowed to walk around Fanime with no shoes? I don't wanna ruin the outfit, but I could probably find some brown sandals or something that wouldn't look to bad. :/
I saw somewhere that shoes are required in the convention center. I think it was the weapons policy, but not sure. It is stickied at the top of this forum section.
BTW... When I walked around the convention center taking photos two weeks ago the only "Dirt" area was in between the library and the Hilton Hotel. FHS has some reddish bark in the tree area, if that is what you are referencing.

B

thanks ^^ I was pretty sure they were required so I bought some brown and gold sandals just in case, at the very least they don't look that out of place with my costume so I don't mind having to wear them.

Yeah, I have been looking online for contact that don't cover the pupil, and price wise, it's just not worth it. I'm not to big on getting the eye color perfect, I just know that there are mean con goers out there that will call you on the smallest thing. Hopefully I don't come across to many of those.

count me in as Sokka.

May have a Mai, Toph, and Jet with me, but not certain on those yet

This seems to be turning out to be a very interesting gathering ^^ I'm glad there might be another Toph there aswell.

hi there! First time cosplayer here! I'm going as Toph from The Last Airbender and already bought my costume, but I really wanna get the eyes right to complete the look, but I can't find any contacts that are less that $100, does anyone know of a good contact lenses sight that isn't to bad on the bank account?

Also, since I've come to understand that shoes are required, does anyone have ideas on how to create the illusion of bare feet while still wearing something?

would anyone happen to know if it's against the rules to walk around FanimeCon with no shoes? I'm cosplaying at Toph, from Avatar: The Last Airbender and don't want to maybe ruin the outfit seeing as she doesn't wear shoes, but if it's a huge deal than I'll just wear sandals or something that would match.

thanks for any answers I can get!

I've been stopped before because of shoes.  Not by fanime staff, but by convention center staff.  I was wearing slippers that looked like shoes at the time, but they didn't feel it was safe enough.  My suggestion would be to visit your local Payless Shoe Source, they usually have flesh colored sneakers cheap.  You can wear them without shoelaces and slip them on and off easily without having to worry about anyone worrying about the health of your feet.  Have fun.  :)

Thanks! that's what I was thinking about doing, at least getting some brown sandals that would match the outfit and not look to out of place.

I agree, friday seems like a good day. Though since that's the first day most people are probably showing up, I don't think many people will make it.

What if the gathering is later in the day? Like...3pm or so?

true, that would probably work, I'm getting there really early friday morning because my roommate is in the maidcafe this year and they have stuff to do at that time.

Does anyone know if the Marriott has microwaves/coffee makers in the rooms? My roommates and I are planning on bringing some food to save on money.
there is a coffee pot in each room at the marriott.  they give you two coffees and two tea bags every day, which is nice.  i'm saving a tea bag from last year, for a fanime-pick-me-up next time i get sad or lonely :3      <--- such a fanime lover!!

anyways, there are no microwaves in the marriott.  i heard that some people just bring their own microwaves, which i find to be an excellent idea.  you can get it to your room easily using a bellhop and a cart, and it increases your food options dramatically, plus it only requires an electric plug in the wall, which there are many of in the rooms.  best of luck!

awesome, thanks. Coffee is essential to my survival. ^^

And a friend I'm rooming with is planning on bringing her tiny rice cooker, so that should work out nicely.

Heels are not necessary at the Ball.  We are concerned about your safety so if you need to wear flats that is fine.  However sneakers, flip flops, and sandals will not be allowed into the Ball.  Other than that you should be fine.

Thanks Jim, can't wait for Fanime ^^

This may seem like a silly question, but I was wondering if heels were necessary or if a pair of nice flats would be acceptable. The only reason I'm asking if because I'm pron to falling in heels. ^^;

I know there's already a thread for this, but the person who started it hasn't posted since December and I'm not sure whats going on with it.

As it my first year going I don't think I'd be the best to start a gathering, since I've never attended one myself. But I'm already planning on cosplaying as Toph and meeting other fans would be great.

If anyone knows of one or is planning something I'd appreciate any info I can get.

Thank you, Rin

I'm already planning to cosplay as Toph XD meeting up with other fans would be so much fun, I'd love to go.

I should probably clarify, I'm going as Toph in her Earth Kingdom green outfit, not her Fire Nation one, though that one is awesome as well.

This may be a silly question but as I've never attended before I was wondering if personal camera's were allowed into the Black and White Ball.

Thanks for whatever answers I can get.  :D

I have a question about a dress I'm already buying and would love to wear to the Ball, but I'm not sure if it's formal enough. What do you think?
