Quote from: tenbaIf they're not condemning the sex, they'll pick apart the violence, the plot, the "unreality", the "childish" art, the fact that the characters aren't played by real people, the cultural contamination by the Japanese invasion, the demonic symbolism, the merchandizing opportunities by the evil money-making corporations, the subliminal efforts of Japanese Big Media to make American children worship the Japanese overlords in revenge for WWII, etc. ;)

Seriously.  It's this very apparent disgust and "weirdness" that is attatched to the anime-watching individual.  If one has a few pictures of anime, they are suddenly obsessed perverts that only like anime and nothing else whatsoever.  I mean, anime fans are people too...they DO other things (once in a while, I'm sure...heh   )  But there is such stimatism attatched to anime, its almost always coupled with or synonomous with weird, strange, uncool or childish.  However, like stated before, there is always going to be something wrong with it.  Us fans just have to learn to deal with the arguments and hostilities.  Some people are just curious.  Just launch into a tirade about your favorite anime scene and the intacracies of this scene and how it effects the overall plot and theme of the anime and most people's eyes will glaze over and walk away.  It's worth it just to see their reaction.  (heh heh heh)

:D

BUGGER! I can never get the quote thing to work right...!!!!

General Anime Chat / Inuyasha's diversity?

Who doesn't like Inuyasha at least a little bit?

I'd have to say my favorite character would be Sesshomaru since he is complex and mysterious.  You don't have a lot to work on, but you really do WONDER how he got the way he is.  Messed up life? (well, yeah)

And Miroku is hilarious because hello, who doesn't want to have a perverted monk hanging around being deep and philosophical...erm...well, perhaps Kagome and Sango...but still.  He adds to the show.  I'm actually writing a fanfiction on him since he is also an interesting character. I mean...there is a lot of background information that they could go into with these characters...and sadly we only really get to see mostly Inuyasha's, Kikyou's and Kagome's angst. (blah)  The side characters are FASCINATING too!
