Quote from: PyronIkari on February 21, 2011, 11:16:36 AMThis is fine. Just like if a song from a series is done by a Western band but used in an anime/drama or something of the such, or if it's an cover by a JP band. (i.e. Franz Ferdinand was used for the ED of Paradise Kiss, Oasis for the OP of Higashi no Eden, Acidman covered Colors of the Wind from Pocahantos).

Basically, if it was a JP domestic release then it is OK. So let's take something that isn't ok. Kara(Korean girl group) released Mister in Korea and Japan. You would be able to sing the Japanese version of Mister, but not the Korean version as that was not a domestic Korean release where as the JP language one was.

Realistically just try to be reasonable. There's ways to be a douche and loophole things to qualify a song, but please try not to do that, it's really annoying and stuff. Just think logically. "Does this song fit in at an anime con karaoke contest"? Otherwise you find douches loopholing things like... Wannabe by the spice girls because it was used on a DDR version only for one mix on the console release. (heh heh heh).

Thank you for answering! And I understand about people trying to find loop holes. :\  I was wondering really just for the songs that had been officially released in Japan by Korean artists. Like you were saying with the Japanese version of Mister. So I'm glad to know that the Japanese versions are allowed.

I had a question, not sure if it's been answered before or not, but I read in the rules that Jpop/Jrock was allowed in the contest. I was wondering if a Japanese song by a Korean artist or group would be okay. For example TVXQ/DBSK, Boa, and many other Korean artists have performed several of their hits in Japanese, some of which were made for or used in animes. So would those kinds of songs be allowed?
