My other nods would be to SuG, BREAKERZ, ONE OK ROCK, Aqua Timez and GReeeeN... Admittedly, not all of these bands are anime con material. Out of those I would highly recommend SuG because they exude the anime con atmosphere (though they drop the f-bomb a lot in a few recent songs!), ONE OK ROCK because their jams go over well with any crowd, and Aqua Timez for both reasons.

GReeeeN is probably the biggest "new" band in Japan at the moment. As of current rankings they're #1 on JP billboard charts. Fat chance XD

I'm WELL aware of that. I just personally really like them and that's why they were suggested. :P

On a more realistic level, Perfume (bubbly electronic female trio) would be a welcome musical act, but I still think UVERworld, ONE OK ROCK, Aqua Timez or SuG should suffice. A lot of the artists I'd suggest are geared more towards venue not con atmosphere.

QuoteAnd their guitarist is from San Francisco.  I think that would be a pretty cool band to have over at Fanime.  They're not too big either, to my knowledge.  Then again, that might be a downfall.  Do you think people would even be interested?  I wonder.

I think people would be interested, girls especially. Hence why I think SuG or Nightmare / Sendai Komatsu or v(NEU) would go over pretty well with an anime convention. Visual bands just tend to fit into that nitch better than other bands generally. But... UVERworld and Aqua Timez have quite a few anime openings and endings to their name. To me they seem the most fitting... Maybe toughest to get.

UVERWORLD.

UVERWORLD.

UVERWORLD.

Please do not bring over: MUCC, Dir en grey, D'espairsRay, or The Underneath. :)

Honestly people, these bands tour the US ALL THE TIME. And if you missed them that's too bad. Catch them around next year because they WILL BE BACK. Give bands that have not had the chance to perform overseas the Fanime spotlight, and PLEASE do not bring a band that has already made their mark here. MUCC and Dir en grey especially. They've came, conquered, and they'll do it all over again soon.

Quote from: shinigami_babei don't care when announcements of guests are made, but i just want guests that appeal to me, i mean what about people who go to cons who don't care for musicfest? It just depresses me because all i hear is good news for people who like jrock/bands, but never anything about voice acotrs, or artists etc... for guests

You haven't heard anything YET. And I'd just like to add this -- every anime convention features voice actors and artists. It's a given. But not every convention... *rarely* every convention features jrock artists and even less conventions feature jpop artists. That's why Fanime is awesome for catering to people who DO want to see jrock artists perform every now and then. Other conventions hardly put emphasis on music at all.

Big Event Showcase / FANIME BANDS

I already made suggestions in the guests thread, but after seeing the suggestions here I REALLY need to say something. I'm seeing too many suggestions of bands who have already played at a bunch of different conventions, and I'd rather see bands who haven't had as many opportunities or no opportunities at all to play lots of conventions.

Lo:lita is one, and I haven't seen Artbeat play yet. Rusika is really good.

For japan-based bands, AN CAFE, hands down. Gazette's probably impossible to get, but they have high energy performances which are awesome. Oshare kei seems more universally appealling though, so I'm hoping Fanime gets either An Cafe, LM.C, Soroban., or Charlotte. Although it's probably too late to suggest these bands now.  :x

PLEASE please try and get Antic Cafe to perform here. Here's why I think they'd be perfect for Fanime. Antic Cafe is an up and coming indie band. They're already getting big in Japan. It's perfect timing for them to expand to the US. They're where Psycho le Cemu was at before they did their US thing.

I know it's probably impossible, but I recently saw Miyavi perform in Vegas and he was utterly fantastic. GET MIYAVI. Seriously. It will do Fanime good.

Kamijo came last year, but I missed him. :( Lareine should make an appearance this year, definitely. Get him back.

This sounds really interesting, although it's getting close to the con, so is this an actual event that will take place?

I've tried registering (this was last week) and I have yet to receive any confirmation email. Tried logging in too and that didn't work. So I'm wondering what's up, cause I'm likely to lose a place in the masquerade unless someone registers me soon.

EDIT: I changed my email address and registered. =) Who do we email to ask questions about the masquerade to?

Quotewhere is the auction being held, anyway? does anyone know?

Was wondering that myself.

QuoteIf any of you do decide to bid, good luck! ^_^ I'm sure the dinners will be a lot of fun. I've met Kamijo at events here in Tokyo, and he's really friendly and charming. The dinners should be great.

That's reassuring to hear! I'd feel more comfortable bidding if I knew where the money was going (and Jhouserock didn't specify).
