It would have been awesome to have the crew of the Arcadia just roll up in my panel. That's cool you do the gathering. Unfortunately, at the time I held my panel, I think a couple thousand people were still standing in the reg line, so I can see how some Leiji fans were probably busy. But, yeah, I'd like to do a Leijiverse panel next year, and hopefully have some other folks to collaborate with.

And anybody who did go to my panels, please send me personal feedback as well! I'd love to know what you thought.

Hey!

Just chiming in to say I had a lot of fun doing my panels this year. It was great getting to talk with old school fans about old school anime, and maybe introduce some new folks to these artists. Anybody who went to my panels, please send your feedback to the folks in charge. This was my first time ever doing panels at a con, and I'd love to do some again next year.

HELLO! My name is Elwin. Longtime anime fan (20 years or so) and longtime congoer, putting together my first convention panels ever! Fanime will be amazing and I look forward to it. I'm looking for 1-2 old-school anime fans who might want to sit on some panels with me. I could, of course, sit up there myself and act like I'm the master of all wisdom, but I think it would be even cooler to moderate a conversation about these artists' work.

My first panel is Friday, 1pm-2pm, "Matsumoto's Futuristic Myth." It's a discussion of Leiji Matsumoto, creator of Captain Harlock, Space Battleship Yamato, Queen Emeraldas, and a score of other cartoons that have been awesome over the last 50 years. I want to offer a sort of primer on the Leijiverse, and talk about how it operates as science fiction myth. I encourage all fans of the Leijiverse to come! In costume!

My second panel is Sunday, 11pm-midnight, "Yoshiaki Kawajiri." It's an appreciation for the legendary horror/cyberpunk/urban fantasy director of "Wicked City" and "Ninja Scroll." I'll show some clips (which is why the panel is 16+, and all panelists must be 18+) and talk about how he fits into the supernatural horror genre.

I want these panels to be fun. These are the creators who got me into anime in the first place and I want to celebrate them. If you feel like you'd be down, and have a good knowledge of their work, please PM me and I can give you the in-depth panel overview. Thanks!
