Hi, never been to a con before....

I've never made a costume, never tried to make one.. but an idea popped into my head and I wanted to make it a reality.  i'm making a steampunk spiderman costume and was wondering if it'd be appropriate to wear at this convention.  I'm thinking of going because a bunch of friends are going and was just curious how out of place i'd be if I came walking in with it on haha.
