Masquerade Looking For Group: a space to potentially find group members for your Masquerade skit! A lot of people would love to find more group members but don't know where to start. The FanimeCon forums allow you to message without having to share e-mail while you figure out if a person is a good fit for your group. You can also change from a Walk-on/Display entry to a Performance/Skit entry!

Hosted at the beautiful historic San Jose Civic theater, right across the street from the San Jose Convention Center, the Masquerade is open to all FanimeCon attendees. Cheer on our contestants as they compete for the grand prize of $1000 and to make a name for themselves in the competitive world of cosplay!

Participate in one (or both!) of our two prize tracts:
- Performance: sing, dance, or do a skit. No craftsmanship required!
- Craftsmanship: show us your elite skills!
We accommodate new cosplayers or those who may have a fantastic skit idea, but can't make their own costume or have limited craftsmanship skills, with our performance-only division.
We still have a craftsmanship prize tract for our cosplay artisans with master, intermediate, and novice categories!
You can do both! Our Best in Show prize, which is best OVERALL Performance & Craftsmanship, is $1000!
Please note we are looking for staff! General Staff, AV/Video Staff, & an assistant Stage Manager!

My team and I ran the FanimeCon Masquerade from 2004 - 2012, before taking this year off due to some RL family issues. I told Fanime that our team would be willing to come back, but there are others applying as well, and they are having us interview for the job. I had several people write to me asking me to come back. Feel free to share any similar sentiments via PM so I can send it to Fanime for when we interview.
