Quote from: "zoupzuop2"At FanimeCon '06, I hopped on the bus in part-cosplay every day. Only thing missing? The really bad "pigtail".

Next year? FULL LOAD COSPLAY, walkin' from my house to the bus station. Might bring some culture to this ****ing town, too... Oh yeeaaaaah.

Its fun. I've walked around in all my costumes, trying to run errands before a con and usually, people try not to stare at you. But when they do, its hilarious. I want to be recognized by a non-con goer on the street.

Hm...well, I went through that for about 10 years of my life(when I only knew of dubs on TV :x ) But I dont think that's what you have here. ^^() I never went through it again because I check Anime News Network or the forums for personal reviews on brand new anime ^^()

Depends on what kinda anime y'like. If you go for shoujo comedy I suggest Ouran High School Host Club .

Or if you're more of a shounen comedy then try Air Gear

All those anime(including Haruhi) were released recently (April is recent...right?)

Its not that its only a dub thing and I only watch what's on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, etc. I don't watch any of those...My TV hasn't even been plugged in for the last two months.

Its just, i go to anime download sites, and I never know what's going to be good, and what's just going to take up space on my computer...so Ive ended up with nothing so many times.

Ideas and Suggestions / Badges falling >_<

Quote from: "Shinigami"The only bad thing is that it gets in the way of costumes and looks kind of tacky

However, as a counter point, the lanyard kind are also easier to pull off real quick when your picture is getting taken. I always try and remove, or hide my badge during photos, and at cons where they have the lanyard kind, I just pull it off, stick it in my purse for a second, photo snap and go!

I would love to see lanyard badges at Fanime.

Quote from: "Spiritsnare"I'm sure you've taken notice of this series, particularly so here in the boards, but I must reiterate: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. :DDDD

You know, I do see that everywhere here on the boards...what is it?

General Anime Chat / When I watched (?), I cried...
August 17, 2006, 10:28:25 AM
Quote from: "Ari"I will be honest.

In pokemon when Ash lets butterfree go so he can go have other butterfree's ^-^';'; Their goodbye was sooo sad! T.T

I totally agree. I watched Pokemon...oh, I'd say 7 years ago now I probably watched Bye Bye Butterfree for the first time. I bawled like a baby.

Also in that episode where Ash has to try and let Pikachu go...I cried again.

And in the Pokemon movie where Ash "dies". Yeah, I sobbed in the movie theater and people didn't want to sit by me.

Non Pokemon....
Grave of the Fireflies
The third or fourth time I watched Zabuza and Haku die in Naruto...I cried.
The end of Prince of Tennis (wtf? I know).
And Death Note left me crying and depressed for days. DAYS.

((I cry easily over anime))

So here I was, trying to pick a cosplay, or at least something I'd like to do and I came up blank.

I realized I was in a dreaded anime funk - I haven't watched any new anime (new for me or new in general) in probably two months now. As a matter of fact...I haven't been watching anime at all.

Does this ever happen to anyone else? You just...don't know what to watch and so you don't watch anything at all?

((and does anyone have any reccomendations, new or old anime?))

Quote from: "Rette"This guy just randomly walked up to me and my friend about 3 times a day (almost everyday) and asked for a hug.

Was he wearing, like, a light blue sweater or something on some of those days? 'Cause if it was, he did that to me too. =/ It was kinda gross on Monday, though, 'cause he didn't look like he changed or anything... XP

Yeah, he was wearing a teal sweater. I don't mind being asked for a hug, but after I said no 3 times, it got a little annoying.  My friends and I had to avoid him for the rest of the con.

He got me twice in the same day within 30 minutes of each time. I told him that I already hugged him and he pouted when I mentioned it.

The first time, I obliged. But then he asked me probably about 10 more times that weekend. I'm not (often) touchy-feely especially with strangers.
And its not like he knew he didn't ask me because 1. I was the only SSS Luna there and I rarely changed costumes, and 2. I told him I already gave him a hug, but he kept asking.

After a while, I was just annoyed. He asked for the millionth time on Monday and I told him I was asleep and couldn't oblige.

As for crazy things to happen..I think actually getting asked to dance at the fanime dance thing by like three different guys. I was really flattered and had fun.

When people catch me reading manga, no problem. Watching anime, psh, its nothing.

When random people catch me walking around in cosplay...That I get a little embarressed about. I tend to change into my cosplay first thing before a con, all excited about it....and then remember that I wanted coffee (cosplay at Starbucks!), and that I had to stop at the bank (Cosplay at Wells Fargo!) or whatever else I had to do (Cosplay at Dennys!).

Once my grandparents were visiting during a convention and they took a picture of me in cosplay. I'm now in the family album for all to see.

Hah! Let me help!!

Sure! :D Everyone else is free to help as well! ^^

A "How not to stalk people" panel? I'd so be down with making that come into exsistance.

So many L's...I only snapped a picture of Zombie L though. Had I tried to get more, I would have ended up forgetting which L's I photographed and which I didn't.

I was going to cosplay L. But then I was too lazy to go out and get the stuff for it. Which is kind of sad, considering its not the hardest cosplay ever out there.

I do love Death Note though...

I know I want to cosplay Rena from Star Ocean, and fix/finish Luna from Lunar for next year.

But other than that, I have planned nothing. Every year, I plan something all year long, then in the last two weeks change my mind and make a whole new outfit. Does anyone else do this or is it just me?

Do denote, I've been tackled by football players, not in the thick of a match, but in P.E.
That's NOTHING like the force of two "skwee"-ing girls. It took quite a bit of energy to not fall over.

...felt good to know I'm lurv'd, though.

I feel that one. I grew up being tackled by my older brother (and my younger brother when he grew bigger than me)

But the fangirls that snuck up from behind my first Fanime? Knocked me down right off my feet. Not only was I freaked out (poor wittle con newbie I was), but now I was freaked out, in pain, and still had a strange person on top of me.

Fangirls! Be gentle! Cosplayers are fragile folk and we fall down easy.

I have to agree with whoever said Fruits Basket. If it has followed the manga, I may have been in love with it for the rest of my life. But the ending was bad, and they put it out of order.

My other disappointment was Paradise Kiss. I rarely love a shojo manga, but this one was special for me. The manga had its humorous moments, but the anime took those and butchered them with bad animation. I'm sorry, but I couldn't stand the animation style in it. I had waited so long for the anime too...

Quote from: "Ayanami Rei First Child"I'm looking for these two, along with the Tifa that was with their group. I was the tall red haired guy who fed them Ramen and we all watched Hard Gay episodes with my roomie who cosplayed as Shinji:

I know the guy in the dress, but he's way too young for me to be giving out his information online. I can give your contact info to him, but that's all.

Quote from: "PixieCat"These sort of threads always weird me out...I'm always worried someone will be looking for me on here. And I wont know who they are or something like that.

omg you're the person I was looking for! Remeber me? I was cosplaying someone from Naruto. We talked for like two seconds.

jk. I don't know you, and I don't like Naruto.

omg, liek, i totally don't remember you! XP. You almost had me going there for a second. I was trying to think why a Naruto cosplayer would have talked to me when I didn't cosplay Naruto for more than a few hours this year...

These are my pictures, strange as they may be. And while I'm here, any pics of my in my Luna (Silver Star Story) cosplay? Just idle curiousity.

Um, I was around most of the night...and the morning. I didn't find anything wrong... whatever. I guess it depends on what you were wearing, how you looked, how old you looked, and who you were hanging out with..

I was in my cosplay outfit (Luna from Lunar), its not skimpy or skanky, I'm 18 (19 in 48 hours) and look my age. And I was hanging out in a group, albeit, an all-female group. Guess I just drew the unlucky straw.

General Convention Discussion / Your best day

Saturday is always my favorite day. I'm still awake enough to enjoy myself and I can stay out all night enjoying anime.

I am in complete disbelief that this thread showed up already...

And that people have costumes picked out. Strange folk, all of you.
I'm sure I will HAVE a Naruto cosplay. What it will be remains to be seen.

Really? I didn't feel scared... i felt right at home actually...

It kinda depends on how late you're there. Weird people come out at night during Fanime...I've been followed on more than one occasion, (and yes, this incident was reported to security, who is incredibly wonderful and helpful at Fanime). My friend was propositioned for sex from a complete stranger, and this weird guy kept popping up time after time, no matter how much I tried to lose him. Not the best expierence...
