Goodness no. My ex-boyfriend is a career military man and wanted to go. He got sent off to do something that weekend and couldn't make it. But questioned me about every second and wants to attend this year...but they shipped him to Maine. He's still asking for leave that weekend though.
I've never seen the women at Y-con treating any attending male poorly. Usually, men get a bit drooled over. But don't let that scare you. If you're uncomfortable with women adoring you, just say so. They'll back off. :)
Honestly, Y-con is meant to be a fun convention and all over 18 are welcome. A variety of items are sold in the dealer's room, including stuff guys might like. In general, the people are respectful and fun. (But you know a couple of jerks have to attend every convention. Do you think the jerks of the world have some sort of organization that assigns members to different fun places? ) I bring several men with me every year and every year they have come home and convince more to go the next year. There are about 10 different guys trying to get time off their jobs and save up money to attend this year's....and I started with just 1 guy.
