Taiki, the sportcoat is not needed for you to go to the BWBall.  The minimum that you would need would be a long sleeve button up shirt, slacks and nice shoes.  I hope that answers your question.

- Jim

Thank you!

Small question.  I can't seem to find my sportcoat, is it absolutely required for the ball or is it optional?  This thread is now some 19 pages long and I'm not even sure what I'd start searching for using the search feature.

Taiki,

Here is a link to the dress code. http://www.fanime.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Black_and_White_Ball_2011.pdf

If you still have questions please ask.

-Kevin

Err, that doesn't answer if it's required.  If I show up in a long sleeve button up, dress slacks and a tie, will I be turned away because I lack a suit jacket?

Actually, it's not obvious.

This is a serious discussion me thinks.

Many, MANY otaku on all sides of the sexuality table complain endlessly about the state of dating FOR otaku, but never consider to discuss and consider the situation for themselves.  The problem is not just for 'otaku'.  It's more of a problem for geek and nerd kind and I think that the discussion must be had.  I think the only reason why anime fandom is important to the discussion is that anime fandom attracts people from both genders and all sorts of backgrounds.  The insights and information that everyone can bring to this discussion can be rather enlightening.

Why not here?  Why not now?  What do girls want?  What do boys want?  When should we tar and feather Dr. Phil and Dr. Laura?  These are important questions.  They need to be answered.

And just what is wrong with dating psycho paths?  We..I mean, they could easily make a day more interesting, ne?

Absolutely nothing!  Although most people usually don't enjoy it.  Like being tied down and beaten with reeds while being forced to listen to John Tesh drunken Japanese salaryman karaoke style.  Some people enjoy it.  Some people don't.  I wouldn't mind it mind you. :)

Now where are those jars...

tsubasa: I dunno, in general, sharing common interests doesn't mean you will get along well with someone.  You and/or they could be sociopaths and just not be sociable and generally incompatable.

Trulysentimental: Just curious, have you been in a serious relationship?

me and ikari "hijacked" the thread and went waaay off topic.

Anyway.

Anyone up for some dinner at Fanime2004?  Not for another year but it couldn't hurt to start trying to see who's available =D

I am not GAY.

Although the more interesting experiment is if we can make Quatre a man.  That'll be amazing.

Oooh!  So do I!

In just seven days I can make you a MAAAAAAAAAAAAN o/~

Ikari: So you mean to say, "put down the pocky and kiss the guy in the dbz tshirt.  you'll thank yourself later."?

ChibiSerenaChan: I don't think ti's so much a verbal brawl as it is a stark difference in ideals.

What ikari and tsubasa said can be applied more generally if reworded.  Granted, the source of the idea of perfection in one's mate will come from different sources, anime, comics, TV soap operas, computer manuals, and harlequinn novels, just to name a few, but the same story still stands.

on another note...

I think i'm plenty realisitic desiring a 5'10 chick that's mostly legs with quadruple d breasts, glasses, and smart enough to bulid a giant space armada designed to fight aliens.

(please realize that was sarcasm.. ^^;; )

ChibiSerenaChan: Sometimes fangirls just go a BIIIT over the top.  And that's a major understatement.  from notoriously bad yaoi fics to sometimes obnoxious behaviour.  Not that all fangirls are like this, but there are that give fangirls bad names.

personally, I don't care.  most fangirls are passionate.  Which is something I find lacking with alot of nonfangirls.

Tsubasa: I'm kidding.  :)  Although, in reality, she isn't that bad.  She's kind of cute, and she's rather intelligent.  But she can't realize that she's keeping heero from his one true love!  Doctor J!  Although if I wanted to date any anime character I'd probably try to date that hot Yellow Dancer chick from Mosepeda.

Please refrain from packing pen pen into small containers.

Please also refrain from packing Kaworu's fudge.

Please yet again refrain from attacking or beating of simian animals.  the Coalition of Liberation of Itinerate Tree dwellers had a field day with that one.

However, the Tyson corporation has no problem with Shinji Ikari choking any poultry.

[edit]

OK, yes, I do live in Las Vegas, yes I am ikari's friend, yes there are aliens in Area 51.  They're both gardeners named Juan.  But, they have green cards.

I've attended FanimeCon three times, 2000, 2001, 2002.  Unfortunantly, because I am a student and thus a broke Bum(of the Neutron sort), I am unable to fund a trip there.  This thread makes me sad now and reminds me of how broke I am.  I will now go away and finish cleaning my bathroom.

BTW, jinnai_animexcalibur, good work on Gendou's eleven.    I hope the final product actually kicks ass.
