FINALLY figured out my songs - for once, one is from an anime (I'm an idol fan more than an anime fan.)
And neither are from idols.
This will be very weird for me.

When I think of well-done walk-on performances (and thus what minimum requirements should be) I remember AX from years ago. There was a pair of Hellsing cosplayers who were on stage for 30-45 seconds, with themed music, and who did three or four in-character poses. That could be a good minimum; it shows the judges how the costumes move, allows there to be a smidge of performance, plus it allows any press photographers some good posing time.

Just a thought!

Consider this the first annual request for more AKB48 (I can provide TONS if you need it. All legally purchased and then ripped to my PC.)

Competing for the first time in...jeez, I think 3 years? I want to say 3. Been a while anyway, and now that I'm an old-ass woman I care less about how I do and more about having fun :)

Going to be doing Heart Gata Virus by AKB48 and Tiny Star by Moumoon.

Calling all idols!

If you've got an AKB0048, Love Live, iDOLM@STER, or other idol cosplay (animated or not) we want to see you!

Fanime will be taking group pictures during the Gathering/Event this year. If you do not want to be included in those pictures please step aside for those photos. By remaining with the group when the pictures are being taken you give your consent to be photographed.

Date and time are tentative - if a majority of people can't make this, we can always change.

Day: Saturday, May 25
Time: 5:00 PM
MP: G2 (as seen on this map)

Live Programming and Events / Stage Zero time slots
March 08, 2013, 09:15:13 AM
Just curious whether there will be open slots this year again for Stage Zero! If so, how long, how many mics, and what times?

Thanks!

So...anybody watching AKB0048? Anybody else COSPLAYING from it? I will be! I may also cosplay from love live, but...dunno yet.

Sphere, maybe? Only four girls, all VA's (topical!) and...yeah. I hear they put on a good show.

Of course, my eternal hope is for Momusu, MomoClo, or AKB to come, but that's unlikely at best.

Hi guys,

I have a few ideas for panels based on idols - a subject that a lot of people might know about, but that I rarely see in cons. However, I'd like to know what people would be most interested in!

Here are the potential panels:

AKB48: The Myth, the legend, the...393 girls?! - All about AKB48
Idol Sengoku - All about the major idol groups active now
Underground Idols: from Afilia Saga East to Weather Girls - All about the groups you may not have heard of
Idols: A history - A brief look at the history of idols (female and male.)

I'm more of an authority on female idols (and groups) than male, so in general these panels will be about the girls ;) Do any of these panels catch your eye? Would you like to help with a panel? Let me know here!

(Mods, if this is the wrong place to post this kinda thing, tell me where and/or please move this! Thanks!)

Hi all!

I'm seeking cosplayers to form a standing group based on AKB0048. It's a very cute anime involving idols, mecha, and AKB! Perhaps in masquerades, but I'm hoping for Stage Zero. Details (such as setlists and live singing) will be worked out between members.

For information about the anime: http://akb0048.wikia.com/wiki/AKB0048_Wiki

For information about AKB: http://stage48.net/wiki/index.php/AKB48

For character designs: http://akb0048.jp/character/

To join, you must love to dance, you must be okay with singing (there are MANY non-solo lines, so if you're a little nervous, that's fine too - we can hide you in the group lines  ), and you must be willing to practice practice practice!

Contact me either via this thread, or at [email protected]. Let's all reach for our dreams together!

PS: If you are a minor, you must have parental permission and a reliable mode of transportation, whether that's via your own car or public. Rehearsals will be held in the south bay.

You were very cool Darryl, and did a great job!

I only have one (somewhat small) gripe, and I'm not sure where to put that down, so...I suppose here's as good as anywhere.

I was in the pretear skit, and I was -HORRIFIED- when the press was taking flash photography while we were setting up. There was a reason we were doing it in the dark, and that's because we wanted the whole thing to be a nice surprise. Unfortunately, half the audience saw what we were doing because of all of the flashes  :?  Is there any way that there can be no flash during skit setup next year? I know at least a few other people that thought that doing so was like peeking ahead of time.

Just wanted to post some quickie great things about this year's fanime:

MASQUERADE WAS ON TIME!! If I hadn't been there and seen it, I would never have believed it could happen  :D Marisa and all of the masq team, congratulations on such a great show! (By the way, Brian, your son is the cutest kid on the face of the earth)

Stage Zero was a great idea that I hope can be expanded next year. Maybe have rotating hosts? Or even have that be the j-pop/j-rock hub of the con? (It sort of was, and sort of wasn't...)

The guests were great too! It was great talking to them, and they all gave wonderful interviews. I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did :)

And finally, the press staff, specifically Pamela. I hope you read the boards, Pam, because you were an EXCELLENT press liason. Really truly, you ran a tight ship and it was great to see! Thanks so much for keeping us (that'd be the cosplaylab.com reps) informed about any changes that were needed right when you knew. You were courteous and helpful and awesome and I hope we can see you again in the same position next year ^^ Although any team would be lucky to have you!

And a couple of quick suggestions:

As everyone has said, it might be good to have the walk-ons either judged in a different competition or to have them all go on one after the other during the masq. There were some wonderful costumes shown, and all that hard work is certainly appreciated, but having a walk-on come on after a particularly energetic performance tends to cut that energy off at the knees :( It's just great to keep building the momentum up during the show.

Stage Zero, as I mentioned, could probably be expanded. It'd be cool to have a j-pop/rock only cosplay competition- the stage is big enough (and there were enough microphones) to have some great performances. Although it might have to be moved to a different place for that, since the crowd during anything like that might be too big to allow for good traffic passing through >_>

Please god move the karaoke competition. Lots of people with nine-to-five jobs don't get off work on fridays until after (or right at) five, so it's hard for those of us who want to participate but have work :( Both of my other group members this year had that happen, and that kind of sucked. Saturday might be a better day...but then it would conflict with music fest, right? I dunno. Just putting it out there.

Thanks to all the staffers and volunteers this year for giving us a great con!

If we got Orange Range, I would die a happy girl.

They've done songs for naruto and bleach (possibly some other ones too, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head)
