The MapleStory "cosplayer". Well not cosplay so much as a sign that said "MESOS PL0X @@@@@". Brought back memories of doing silly crap in MS.

I agree! A friend and I did a double take in the dealers' hall and all he had to do was nod slightly to acknowledge the sign and we both laughed.

I was always happy to see Russel from UP around - he was just so adorable. I didn't notice some of the details at first, but after a few encounters, I noticed the house attached to the balloons and it was so charming! You did a wonderful job, Jerry! Thank you for all of the smiles.

Wow, I've found this thread nearly a month after the con! Eheh, I wish I had looked through the forums sooner, although my friends and I had no trouble finding the gathering. A friend and I made an impromptu decision a week prior to cosplay as the Black/White trainer pair, while we were up to our necks in midterms with no car and about 130 miles away from San Jose. It was a challenge to stay accurate (I ended up without boots) but we had a lot of fun putting our cosplays together!

I wasn't expecting this gathering's great turnout, but it was a wonderful opportunity to see so many other Pokemon cosplays! My friend and I finally met our fellow Black/White trainers here, which was pretty cool. Unfortunately, we only took four pictures while we were here. 1 2 3 4

Props to the Mewtwo cosplayer (my friend loved it!) and the shiny Red Gyrados! Now I'm going to go back to look at pictures, myself. If anyone took pictures of Pokemon Black/White trainers at any time of the convention, links are highly appreciated. (:

My camera was with a friend all weekend and unfortunately, only a few photos were taken on Saturday. Sorry some of the images are rotated; I haven't used Photobucket in years so I don't know how to change it. Feel free to ask me for the original file(s).

P.S. I would also greatly appreciate it if anyone could direct me to any photos they took of Generation Five Black/White Pokemon trainers they took on Friday/Saturday (my friend and I were one of the pairs!) Thank you in advance!

Registration / Re: Pre-reg Badge Pickup

Day Zero is just the Thursday before the actual convention and attendees who had pre-registered come to pick up their badge(s). There's not much more than that, except some people do cosplay on this day and I believe there's also a swap meet...

I personally like it because I've always gone with several friends and we are waiting in this atmosphere of pre-Fanime excitement. XD

Aw, that's too bad. I'm a bit disappointed I'll be missing Day Zero, myself... I've always enjoyed the excitement. Thank you, ewu!

Registration / Pre-reg Badge Pickup
April 07, 2010, 11:40:03 AM
Hi everyone,

I won't be in San Jose for Fanime weekend until Friday night, so I'm wondering if it's possible for a friend of mine to pick up my pre-registration badge for me on Day Zero. I realize it's kind of a stretch, but I may sign some papers or give her my print-out and my ID.

Thank you in advance!

Dealers Room / Re: What's your opinion on grab bags?
February 08, 2008, 06:04:17 PM
I've always thought grab bags of any sort were rip-offs with "a lot of junk no one ever buys." A friend tried her luck at one last Fanime and the random items she received (I don't remember what they were, except for an inflatable Kon) were a bit disappointing. Like others had said, if you like getting into new series this way, then go for it, good luck and have tons of fun! I think it'd be cool if someone makes a grab bag thread and consumers post what they got out of them and the price they paid for the grab bag.

Moonblossom, those are adorable figurines. I'm all for Gachapon/Gashapon, too. I think I'll start looking into purchasing some this year.

Chúc mừng năm mới! Yay!!

I also wonder about the twelve-year cycles, and I don't really know if I should celebrate them at all. I was born very late in the year of the horse, in 1991. It feels a bit awkward my age is always one year behind.

FWIW. The 17 year kid that was killed by the tiger went to the school I teach at.... He was not one of my students but I belive a few of mine knew him...

Oh my, really? I also go to Independence. It's terrifying how anyone I know could've been involved in this.

Anyway, on topic, I was shocked when I first heard of this attack. My condolences to the victims, their families, and Tatiana. I'm saddened the tiger had to go. I don't think she's entirely the one at fault, not that anyone was really pointing any fingers.

Registration / Re: Badge Pick up

My passport's picture is very outdated. The picture was taken ten or eleven years ago; that's when I last needed my passport. I brought it with me to pick up my badge, but I got embarrassed when it was my turn so I got away with my (at the time) current school ID and receipt.

I'll ask my father about the state ID, but in the event he refuses to let me get one, what should I do?

Wow, people actually put in fake information for Fanime? XD; News to me.

I received my copy yesterday! Eee, it was such a nice surprise after a tiring day of school! I took my time reading and appreciating it after a nice shower (I agree, it's quite lovely). I, too, thank the Fanime staff for taking the time and effort to send these out to us!

Also, I love the little note and sketch on the envelope.

General Convention Discussion / Fanime 2007 badge

Actually, I noticed the typo on day zero as I was heading out the door of the convention center. I giggled to myself and showed it to my friends in school the next day.

I didn't think it was a big deal. I still love all of my Fanime goodies.

General Convention Discussion / Website Critiques

First and foremost, I'd like to thank you again for your hard work and getting the site up and running on-time for us. <3 And again, please don't push yourself so much. I hope you will have a fast recovery!

Now, onto my ramblings. XD;

I've been excited since I first saw the splash/counter page of the '08 site, being the little sakura and pink freak I am. At first, I was a bit shocked at all of the empty space around the content of the site, but it was just merely seconds after the launch, and I'm sure everything still needs to be tweaked. The random image reloaded after I finished reading several pages of the new site, and I jumped! I wasn't expecting that, but I really love this feature so much. I absolutely adore the character designs of the ones I've seen so far, and I like how there's some part of them overlapping the site's content.

I think my only peeve is the .JPG fuzz surrounding the text in the banners. I've always had an eye for it, and while it doesn't kill me, I'd save my images in another format if I had the choice. However, I can understand .JPG loads faster than .PNG, so it's more friendly to slower connections. ^_^; All is good, but I had to say something about the... fuzz. *doesn't know the term for it*

I'm not sure if you're interested in anyone pointing out all of the typos, so this is all for now. I look forward to more additions to the site! <3

Nuuu, you're not supposed to die after the launch, Webmistress! *fans*

Though while you're here but a bit unconscious, I must say I love the rotating NPCs/characters on the layout!

Edit // Fixed a typo. Got too excited ^^;

OMG! Eee it's up, it's up! *bounces around* Thank you~!

*squeals* I agree, it sounds like your situation is more serious, LadyKaren. Your health > getting a website up. Please take care of yourself, and thank you very much for your very hard and dedicated work!

I check the website and the forums daily because I miss Fanime X'D

*crosses fingers with Kyokun*

Hehe, so I'm not the only one watching that counter carefully! I stayed up a few nights ago to wait for the launch, as well.

I was disappointed, but I don't mind waiting all so much. I can't wait to see the layout and what the '08 website has in store, and I figured the webmaster(s) ran into some difficulties.

Quote from: Jun-WataraseI just felt like mentioning.. o.o

If you're referring to Pikmin Link, she's a girl. ^.^;

Oh my gawd! XDDD I feel so utterly stupid now. I always thought she was a guy, and after we let her head back to Starbucks, a friend brought up the gender question because her voice was, well... girly. I suggested she ask just to be sure, but that didn't happen.

- doing more than just shopping in the Artists' Alley and Dealers' Room.
- taking more pictures of people and cosplays.
- giving people more hugs, especially to those with signs.
- watching Romeo x Juliet and/or Umizaru (I didn't know they were showing!)
- generally just having a better time. I felt like I totally wasted Sunday and most of Monday.
