I was '.______.'-ing because I had to wake up uber-early for one of my staff shifts.

Thinking about it now, it wasn't too bad. ;____;  I miss Fanime.

This from one of the Volunteers staff, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with another member of staff. v___v  It's a pity you didn't get a name or badge number so you could file an official complaint.

Stuff like this is why I'm paranoid as all heck about my possessions.  If it's not looped onto me or hanging off some part of me, it's in my bag, and I always have that tucked underneath my arm so that it's hard to get into.  Valuable stuff (wallet, ipod) are either zipped up in the bag or sitting at the very bottom, or I dropped them off in my hotel room and stashed them in my suitcase.  Sometimes, it's annoying for me because I feel like I'm overdoing it.  And other times, I'm just thankful that I'm so wary.

Imported from cosplay.com with a few additions.

Highlights:
- JESUS VS. PROTESTORS. F'realz, that was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Especially when the Wolfwood came and lent his cross... and then the Spartans came as well.
*must upload pics...*
- Kingdom Hearts bringing sexy back, which made my inner fangirl squee quite loudly. That was fantastic and full of love.
- I got a fantastic Tsubasa artbook and Doll vol. 3, which no one seems to be able to find anywhere else, so I'm quite happy. I also picked up a bunch of adorable pins, a nice keychain, ears, and pretty much almost everything I came to Fanime to buy in the first place.
- An Cafe concert, which was quite fun. I was in the front initially, but got very tired of the bad B.O. and the shoving, so I moved to the edge of the crowd and still managed to get a good view and an entertaining show.
- Fantastic artist's alley, with very talented artists and lots of beautiful art.  I'm considering participating next year, but doubt I'll have any time at all. XD
- Just general con-going fun and fantastic costumes EVERYWHERE.  I don't have enough space on my camera. D:
- Host Club panel win! ;D

Lowlights:
- It felt like there was less variety in the dealer's room this year. *shrug*
- Tech people screwing up our skit. D: If we've triple checked with you to have a blackout at a certain point, it'd be wonderful if you guys followed up and actually went on to DO the blackout. No blackout resulted in a great deal of improv, awkwardness, confusion, overall lack of time and other suckish things. (#3 OH!smeCK)
- Hare Hare Yukai Dance x 2342398423 >.> Not that I don't like the dance and not that a lot of the people who performed it did it badly, per se, just that it got so repetitive.
- Scary stalker guy who followed me around multiple times whom I had to tell off to get him to stop.
- Missing the Bleach gathering, because I had staffish things to do at the time, unfortunately.
- The fact that I'm not 18 yet and thus cannot buy yaoi or swords or do adult-related things.
- Seconding the camera nazis at the concert.  I understand that they don't want us to take pictures and video- and I wasn't planning to- but if they don't want any cameras at all, then tell us BEFORE we get to the end of the friggin line.  And to the jerk who told my sister that she could just throw away her camera because he didn't care, you can go screw yourself.

*casually chatted with random guys throughout most of Fanime, but at one point ended up with kind of a creepy stalker type person that was very difficult to scrape off*

DO:
Talk to me about what kind of anime/games/manga I'm cosplaying, or what interests me.
Chat with me about the abovewhile I'm on my staff shift up front, or waiting in line, waiting for an elevator, etc.
Ask me for a picture.
Ask me about a panel, masquerade, what I think about this con, or conventions in general.

DO NOT:
Stare creepily at me.
Ask me where I live, what school I go to, whether or not I have a boyfriend, or other personal information unless we've been chatting and having a good time for a while.
Follow me around after meeting me for all of two minutes.
Follow me around con, and to my hotel.
Continue to try and strike up a conversation when I've been trying to ignore you, and have already casually dropped the fact that I already have a boyfriend, kthx.
Force me to threaten to call SOS on you.

Hilton 11th floor.

Wasn't too bad, actually, but that might be because I kept extremely odd hours as staff and woke up and ran around earlier than most other people.  Also checked out earlier too, so I missed the worst of the end-of-con rush to leave. ;D

(Even so, I still had to wait about 15 minutes for an elevator.)

But looking at how crowded the Marriott elevators were at some points... wow.

I have too many photos to count of spectacular cosplay outfits.  I'll probably tack most of them up on my cosplay.com account later, under the same username, so if anyone wants a picture I took of them, it's probably there.

I also have pictures of the whole Evangelists vs. Fanime + Jesus debacle. 8D

So many outfits that were awesome and totally fantastic.  Not enough space on my camera. ><

Masquerade Comments and Thoughts:
- As much as I generally like the tech people who make our lighting and music possible, I really, really, really wish that they hadn't screwed up on our skit. (#3 Ouran in Wonderland by OH!smeCK)  Our music started early, which was kind of awkward, there was supposed to be a blackout that never came, which really screwed up with our timing, forced us to improvise, probably really confused the audience, and generally was really annoying. v____v

I ended up mentally cringing every time the stage blacked out afterwards, thinking 'why couldn't they do that for us? DDX'

- Oh god, the Haruhi dance.  So many groups did it, and I feel kind of bad for the people who did it later because some of them did it really well, and they were just unlucky to end up doing it after a whole bunch of others.  Thus, little to no applause.

Props to the Haruhi dancers. ;D

- CANDY MOUNTAIN!!!111!!11kjaflskjdflsdfkj!!!11potatoes!!

It's hard for me to say much more without it being reduced to crazy fangirlish squeeing.  But, er, yeah.  SO MUCH LOVE.  This was definitely my favorite skit.  I thought my day had been made complete with the Jesus and Christian people drama by the fountains.  BUT IT WASN'T.

My Win-Meter shorted out some time during the skit from too much awesomeness.

"Too sexy for this con... too sexy for this con..."

- SLAYERS.  Wonderful, beautiful Slayers cosplays and a hilarious skit.  Props to them for winning too. ;DD

- There was so much dancing this year.  And most of it was well done too, like prepared beforehand and choreographed, instead of 'oh, random dance off that we'll just do on the fly'.  So that's a change for the better.

- This stage was well enough, but I kind of liked last year's better.  Dunno, I just felt like the audience was a lot more enthusiastic last year, and that it has something to do with the stage.  Also because it went totally pitch black in the other stage, and that worked well with the skits.

- Shiny Alucard cosplayer of win.

And more comments when I think of them. XD

>.>  I need to do a whole lot of stuff.

Haku's outer robe thingie. Finish Haku in general.
Redo Yoruichi's leg warmer, since my first one pretty much died.
Get moar money. :D
Figure out hotel room stuff.
Figure out masquerade stuff.
Rehearse masquerade stuff.

I've done:
Prereg
Staff reg (so Prereg, technically, was unneeded)
Figured out staff hours
Talked over leaving school with mom
Having some of the money necessary for survival at con

Whoa. Over 100k?  When did that happen? O____o

Ahh, doing that skit was a heck of a lot of fun. ;D  *Was the Kyouya*  My only regret was not being able to see the skit before ours very well, since theirs was awesomecool.

I don't know if .hack//Roots Shino would work...

But since her outfit is so shmancy looking...

This is, of course, assuming that I can finish it.  XD (*cough Heck No cough*)

I participated last year, and I think I might do it again this year.  However, it's kind of still up in the air because I'm also staffing this year, doing masquerade stuff, and scrambling to gatherings etc.

How well do silver sharpies work if you're dying a wig?  I mean, I've heard of all sorts of sharpie-dying, but I feel like it might be different if you're doing it with a metallic color.

This isn't THE craziest thing, but it was pretty crazy and fun still.

I was staying on the 11th floor of the Hilton last Fanime, and had gone up to our room to drop stuff off.  When I got on the elevator going down, it was already over half full of people.  We stopped at nearly floor going down, and two floors down, the elevator was completely jam-packed.  Since we really couldn't fit anyone else on the elevator, and we decided to all sort of crowd toward the entrance whenever the elevator stopped, and STARE down at anyone who was going to come in.  It sounded like a good idea, but every time we tried, we all burst into laughter, (leaving several very confused looking people standing on the floor), so it failed miserably.  Still, twas great.

x]  Good times...

I'd just like to know if there are rules for what's acceptable or not in cosplay floating around the forums or the official Fanime site.  If so, I'd love for someone to link me to it, and if not, maybe it'd be a good idea to have one posted up on the main site.  It'd be very helpful to anyone doing a cosplay that's on the skimpier side, and for staff members/congoers to refer to if someone complains about a costume (which I've heard of happening, just not in Fanime.)

I might be able to make it for the lunch gathering. ;DD  Whenever that is, though.  Maybe your could add the lunch gathering list and details (when, where etc.) to the first post as well?

Almost done with Yoruichi!  I just need to finish the top and find some liquid eyeliner. <3
#16
No CPA? DDX  Too bad, it was so nice last year.
#17
Oh god, I really want to do Shino (.hack//G.U.,.hack//Roots) but I don't know if I'll be able to finish her after Yoruichi and Haku.  And her costume! DD: The hat!  The bloody hat! *dies*

But it's so prettttyyy~

If you cosplay, bring a sewing/repair kit, just in case a prop breaks/seams split/something tears/etc.etc.  It really sucks to have worked hard on a costume, only to have it die on you the day you get to wear it at the con.

Wow at all the people coming from out of state, or even out of the country.  I can't imagine going somewhere I've never been before, or only gone to once or twice, from another state.  Then again, I'm something of a chicken concerning new things and places. XP

Getting to SJ is maybe twenty-minutes worth of driving for me.
