Big Event Showcase / Re: B&W Ball complaint
May 27, 2008, 05:59:25 PM
Oh wow, that's horrible! Sorry to hear that your costume was ruined, what a downer :(
I noticed that the B&W staff were a little.... disgruntled....

One other thing was the lack of planning for more people, I feel bad for everyone who ended up missing chunks of the dance because they had to wait in line.

Also, sucks that if you needed to use the restroom, you had to go to the very BACK of said line. Ditched early to go to a nice dinner cause my poor moms couldn't hold it anymore and there was NO WAY we were waiting in line for another 40 minutes. Please try getting a bigger room next year, or working out something better for the restrooms.

Other than that the ball was really nice, I just felt pretty stupid for not having taken the lessons @,@

;^; much sadness

This was my first real anime-only con, I've been to Comicon a bunch of times, but it's nowhere near as fun or as personal and colorful as Fanime is. Darn american comic book nerds stay in their caves all year, paling and paling, and come to dilude the anime crowd there :<

I regret a LOT, like missing all of the dance lessons, not getting to see any panels or any of the masquerade @x@, not getting some of the swag I wanted to (I didn't have my wallet with me for the one me-mahself-and-I shopping time I had! Sorry to everyone in the artists alley I ended up rainchecking!), not getting to be there for Friday, and not spending more time on my costumes (all three were about two weeks in the making, stupid finals).  Also wish I'd taken more pictures, and given/gotten moar free hugs. GYUAGH! It all went by so fast!!!

I did, however, get to doing the most important thing. Got to finally meet my online luff after about a year of a long-distance relationship and an even longer online friendship :). Fanime is an AWESOME atomosphere to spend time like that in, we shared pocky over the buzz of the dealers hall x3

Gyurhg. Need a mental health day. Or something to get rid of this downer. Virtual hugs to everyone here *HUUUUG*

By the way. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make time to change out of costume before your flight. ;^; I didn't have time and ended up having to go through airport security in my Temari outfit. Or lack of it. D: It sucked, had to send most of it through the x-ray (including the wig D8, and the fan, which they bent!) and stand there rather awkwardly in a tanktop and shorts with my hair looking like a birdsnest of bobbypins. Not fun (for me at least :P)

Well, it's only about 350 days until Fanime again. Hope to see you then!

PS: anyone else going to Comicon? WE NEED MORE ANIME TO FIGHT THOSE DC COMIC-GOERS DARNIT!

Ugh, unfortunately I can believe that people would do this, but I don't see the point of ruining what's supposed to be a joyous weekend of nonstop anime by yoinking people's stuff left and right. Not cool. My condolences to everyone who had their stuff stolen.

@,@ I was lucky enough not to have any problems, but I'm definitely going to have to be more careful.

If you're cosplaying, may I suggest making inside pockets for cameras/wallets/glasses/other valuables? Really helps at GIGANTOR cons; my conbag got swiped at Comicon last year, but luckily all the important stuff was in a secret kimono-sleeve pocket ;3
Also, storing stuff in bags that have multiple buttons as opposed to zippers or velcro, etc, might take more time in getting your stuff out for pictures or buying stuff, but will also be harder for any thieves to get into too quickly.

Con was awesome! :( so sad I missed Friday, darn finals prep.

You guys did a great job with the layouts and decorations, and traffic control worked well too. Did a fantastic job on the badges this year too, Kudos to the artist ;D

Just one bit that bugged me was that the Fanime '08 booklet was a little harsh on the eyes because it was a sans-serif font. Sans-serif is awesome for computers and electronically displayed text, but serif looks MUCH better and is a lot easier to read on paper. No biggie though xD

Thing that made me the saddest EVAR was that a lot of the sword booths in the dealers room had no shipping OR didn't provide boxes for the swords so that you could check them if you had to take them home through an airport. I know this is prolly something that the dealers should be hearing, but maybe making boxes available as a requirement would help...? None of the swords I wanted would fit in mah suitcase, and there's no way any of them would've made it through airport security xD

Only other thing was that it was a bummer that the line to get into the Black and White Ball was so long; I came early so we weren't hit with that traffic, but I felt pretty bad for the people waiting in that massive line snaking around the corner.

Also, heard a complaint from a friend that the maids in the maid cafe spent more time on their cell phones than talking to the customers(???). Dunno what that's about.

Overall, AWESOME con! Thanks so much to everyone who worked it and all the other visitors, you made it all worthwhile :). Hope I can come again next year! If not, I'll be at Comicon in July >:3

Just wondering, is it acceptable to wear your cosplay outfit to the lessons?

Dunno if it's here already, but I think it'd be a great addition:

"Zessei Bijin" by Ai Nonaka, Marina Inoue, Yū Kobayashi, and Ryōko Shintani (ending theme song for season 1 of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei)
It's a good song :3, for duo's too

Big Event Showcase / Re: MusicFest vs. B&W ball?!
May 20, 2008, 10:55:29 PM
Ayiyi.

Well, I haven't heard of An Cafe, ever, and I don't have any tickets or anything, so I'mma head over to the B&W.
I'm fully prepared to embarrass myself, as I forgot most of the only dancing I know, which is a little ridiculous in the first place: swing. :P

Do you guys know if they let you attend the dancing lessons in costume?

Cause I'd love to learn something other than swing. Jazz hands give me carpal tunnel.

See you guys at the ball ;D

Oh, much awesomeness :D!

Unfortunately I no longer own a trumpet, and I don't think that the coconut-nail-instrument-thing gets much volume. x3

I was contemplating bringing my guitar, but if I do it'll have to be my insanely crappy one with the broken seatbelt for a strap. As there is no way I'm subjecting my beautiful wooden Kiki-chan to various con dangers ;^; . And I'm no guitar hero or anything, only been playing a few months :P, so it wouldn't be justified carrying my nice one around. Not sure if it's even justified bringing one at all, cause I don't know ANY anime songs, mostly rock stuff :P. But hey, I've got... two weeks, I can learn! (Fukai Mori looked good :3)

You guys thing I should bring it along and join your jam session?
I'll be there mid Saturday to late-ish Monday, and I dunno which days I'll be which but right now I've got Urahara, Shippuden Temari, and a Pikachu costume planned out :D

Seeya at the con~ :D
You savvy music peoples
