Don't do a female version of a male character that does not have a female version.  Don't have long blond hair, when you're cosplaying a character with short black hair, or anything along those lines.

Those are really my only pet peeves.  Mostly, just make sure you have lots of fun.  Be a character you like, and enjoy being. 

I'm just now looking into going to fanime, but if I do, I'll probably bring either my Axel or my Demyx costume.  Or maybe both.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to go though, I'm trying to get some of my friends to come with me.  Plane tickets can get expensive though, and all of my roommates are going to Japan this summer, so they don't have a ton of money at the moment.  I'm working on it though.

I also have Sakura Con at the end of this month, and then Kumori con, and Anime Evolution at the end of the summer, so yeah, not a ton of money, but I'm going to try.
