Hi! My friend and I were at Fanime on Friday and Saturday. I know that a few people took our picture, and I would love to get a hold of those photos! I know there were a couple Princess Mononoke's out there...I'm not really sure how to narrow it down. I had a fake fur cape but I did not have her mask or dagger. Ashitaka was wearing a blue gi and had a red scarf for his head piece...Sorry I can't really be more specific than that. Please let me know if any of you have pictures of us...or even if you think you do! Thanks

I'm not even going to begin with otakuapprentice...just because, there would be too many ridiculous things to mention! And who has time for that?
I'm glad Tony listed some things that we'll need. Just because they are virtually impossible to get, doesn't mean we shouldn't try, does it?
Personally, I think it would be a good thing to bring up with these people (a lot of you are using "we" to describe some sort of authority, so maybe we should just talk to you?), if not for this up coming con, then next year because it's ridiculous to shut something down without a true write-up and conversation. I do not think there was any intention of going to fanime without discussing it and firing foam pellets at random kids...that would be insane. If it is shot down this year, I say we get people to come with nerf guns in hand, ready for an outdoors game.
If you're one of the people who has been using "we", help us out, you obviously are in with the people in charge of these decisions...or you're creating false impressions of yourselves...either way, we could probably use your expert opinion/lying skills to get this show on the road.

After having written that, I've realized that I myself have no idea to contact people in charge of events. So that would be something to find out.

Wow, that wasn't constructive at all.
Crushing the innocent dreams of a fun-faring boy, just as he was about to embark on the greatest adventure of his short life reminds me of the kind of thing a villain in a children's book would do.
Luckily, the villains in children's books never prevail!
Get connections. Talk to people in charge. Make it happen.
If you need permission and some sort of person overseeing the ordeal, get those things.
A dream of nerf wars should not be stifled. At least, not unless it is the kind of dream that crushes those of others.  :D Though I doubt it would be!
Dream on! (That wasn't sarcastic)
Let the battles begin!

We've got an articulate bunch here, don't we? Hah.
I suppose that people wandering around would be potentially dangerous, and this arrangement should probably be kept to a square of some sort. Maybe not as exciting, but definitely safer. It would be awesome, however, to be able to some what secretly talk together with our team while playing, but I don't know how plausible that will be. That's my two cents. At least I have some cents, though.

There are never too many days for pokemon. I don't think it has to be a specific day, you should come when ever you want to as such a thing!

It seems to me that you all are a bit unclear on how this works. You see, it's awesome that you all want to take part and come dressed up, but without any wild pokemon to catch, coming as Ash (no matter which kind of Ash) is not going to be as fun as you think it will. I'm not trying to deter you from doing so, I'm only saying that you should try and get people to come with you, or at least get people to come, as pokemon. Also, we need some bad guys. Not to sound too juvenlie, but games are just so much more fun with bad guys. I hope to come as Commander Jupiter, as I've said before, but, you see, I've managed to come with an entourage of pokemon. If I don't see that more people are doing the same, I'm going to have to give up my sexy endeavor, and go as mudkip myself. And frankly, I don't think my partner in crime would be too pleased wit that idea. So, please, help out: get friends, or aquaintances, to come as pokemon, wild or part of a team. Thanks. And your costumes sound awesome.

I like plans.

So, first off: Terrain. Obviously, we need terrain. I, personally, do not have terrain. Those who have terrain (Explination: good terrain),  it would be helpful if you could volunteer it for our tournament.

Next: We need people who would be willing to donate some of their time helping out with this tournament (organizing and supervising). I'm sure my friend and I would help setting it up the first day, but we also have other things we'd like to do, as would everyone. I'm not really sure how these things get officially put into the activities list for fanime, but doing that might make it easier to designate helpers for the tournament.

Other than these things, we really just need to make sure people play by the rules. Those who want to play need to bring their codex in some shape or form, as well as a general knowledge of the rule book and or the actual thing. Maybe we could have two or three rule books there for referance if people do not want to bring their own.

I'd like to say, if anyone really wants to make me happy (since it seems that that is no longer the task of my dear friend), they should come as my Squipsters aka Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert. Doing this may prove to be beneficial to you and your own happiness.

Moving on.

I would like some suggestions on how to efficiently and attractively put together an outfit for Commander Jupiter. Unfortunately, there are not many pictures of her online (This boggles my mind because she is one of the most attractive characters of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl), but she basically wears a silver spandex sex suit (I hope that alliteration pleases you all). If anyone has any suggestions for me, they would be greatly appreciated.

As would the affirmation of someone who wants to dress up as Squipsters...please?

I've tested the strength of the DS's wireless connection, and it's pretty awesome. We could either set up a room for such gaming, or individuals or groups can play where ever they like. If the connection is strong enough, you will see other players. If you were so inclined you could walk around the convention until you picked up someone's signal. That might get a bit boring though. If you find someone, stick with them for however long you'd like to play. Eventually we will gather quite the crowd.

Yay!

It should be an honor for you to be my Squipsters. But you will never fully understand his beauty I suppose. It is your loss alone.

If anyone has any awesome and/or easy ways of creating pokemon costumes, post them. It would be a great help to hear about other's ideas.

Also, not only a diversity of pokemon, but a diversity in trainers is necessary for this to be an awesome gathering. I would like to see some Team Magma, and Aqua, Galactic, etc.

There could be teams as well as people out only for themselves. It would create quite the dynamic capture the flag game. Teams could pay mercenaries with treasure and traps!  :o How incredibly awesome would that be. No need for battling when you can have crazy games of capture the flag.

Breaking the tournament into different point sizes will make the entire thing all too confusing. First of all, having people standing around like dumb asses writing up their army list while people are trying to play would be entirely frustrating. It would be better organized if those who wanted to play created a 1500 point list before they come to play. Second of all, only being allowed one army for the tournament would challenge people to create a versatile army. That's half the fun.

I am most likely going to come as Commander Jupiter. She's sexy and has pink hair. My friend may possibly be my pokemon (though he refuses to dress up as mudkip, oh well  :P), and if others were willing to take part, we could have a battle. The more people join up, the more fun we could have battling. Ideas about how this could happen would be much appreciated.

Trainers, Pokemon, and battles. The more people who take part, the more fun you can have. I'm planning on going with my friend as a trainer/pokemon team. Will battle any other such team. This idea would also make a great skit, so anyone who is interested should line up under this post, or email me directly. (Wild pokemon may be caught!)

I'd like to add 40K to that list. I would also like to suggest a huge game of capture the flag for pokemon diamond and pearl.

You can battle also. But not underground. Basically, you have to first find another's base, then you have to take their flag, and finally, you have to return to your base without them catching you. There are traps to slow people down. I'm afraid there will be no shooting in such a game.  ;)

Once you are able to explore underground in Diamond and Pearl, you can make a personal base. Others within your network will be able to interact with you underground, and you can play capture the flag. All of those who are underground are able to search for other's bases, and then steal their flag. It's quite exciting.

Gaming / Capture the flag in Pokemon Diamon/Pearl
March 18, 2008, 10:05:27 PM
I've been dying for an opportunity to have a bunch of people play capture the flag in the underground area of the Pokemon DS Diamond/Pearl games. This may be one such opportunity. Would anyone be into that?

A 40K tournament of sorts would be awesome. I'm sure, if it were actually planned out, my friend and I would be down to join. Dark Eldar and Tau. Let's do it!
