... I've been cutting wigs for almost 8 months with the same pair of hair scissors and they're perfectly fine.
You know at my school they are always pushing onto us not to cut our scissor to cut anything else but they never tell us why. I suspect it is because they could dull easily (but if you've been working with them for 8 months then I dunno). I know that when they do dull it cost a pretty penny to sharpen them again.

You might want to check out some of the wig guides on Cosplay.com. I don't know where you're at (located) so I couldn't recommend somewhere. Worse comes to worse I'd (a cosmetology student) would be happy to cut it for you.

Edit: Here's the main topic on Cosplay.com for Wig Styling.

Thank you so much seiginomikata and angeljibrille for your timely responses. I very much appreciate it.

Just for clarification. For the craftsmanship judging do we need to be in full costume and make-up? I've heard both that we do and we don't.

No.

This is where the San Jose Police Dept. has to come in -- this and at least two other things which I and others have spread over this board.

What I said after last year was not in kidding:  They really need to put together an agreement with the SJPD for them to come in and police the con.  A lot of this stuff that I read about some of other people's experiences at Fanime with this kind of stuff just reinforces that the convention can't police itself.

The reason that I think they don't want to is that they don't want the authorities to know what really goes on in one of those things, or the authorities would feel the same way many people around cons I went to told me privately:  Not crazy about having them around.

And to Bawlsy's friend:  One time that happens -- 9 - 1 - 1.  You get his name, you get his badge number, you get him arrested.  Notify con security AFTER you call the police.
Hmm I was never with them both times this happened but yes going to the police is a much better idea (obviously because they have more authority than the rovers). I don't recall seeing them but that's probably because I don't notice them among the cosplayers in uniforms. Thank you though for bringing that up.

While it's never happened to me but a couple of my friend problems stalkers/fanboy/fangirls. If you are propositioned for sex, drugs, anything you are uncomfortable with and/or being followed constantly after asking the individual to stop please for your sake and for other people who might also be having troubles with this individual report it to security. They are super nice and they are at the con to help you. Because what's can ruin your experience is constantly having to see/come in contact with that person.

Eat FOOD! No candy or pocky but something with substance even if it is Jack In The Box. You'll feel better and you'll have energy to spend on what you want to do. Drink water. You do not want to get dehydrated and pass out, possibly hitting your head on something as you go down (location depending). There are con-attendants/volunteers/con-employees who are trained as EMT, nurse, etc. If they see that they must call 911 and you might taken from the con to the hospital. Not fun for anyone.

So I found out I actually do have time since there were some problems with AA. The following is the information you asked for. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

    * What costume(s) (character(s) + series or summary of original design(s) Harold from Tales of Destiny 2
    * How far along with the costume(s) are you? If you're not complete, what might you wear as a backup? Currently working on the boots and short shorts. I still have much of the costume to complete. I have confidence I will be done by Fanime (I go to school 4 days a week and that's all I do). However if I something were to come up stopping me from completing that costume I have a Tsunade cosplay I would like to use.
    * Which slot would you prefer? Both are fine but I would prefer the 1pm one.
    * Link to your profile(s) on cosplay.com or cosplaylab or cosspace with examples of your prior costumes.

Quick question. I have some voice acting I need done but it is a male character. Unfortunately as hard as I may try I do not sound very manly. Would there be any problems for using my friends and/or family to help me record what I need?

Yep. Thanks Fanime. Happy April 1st to you too. You got our hopes up.

Quote from: Jun-Watarase on February 25, 2008, 09:07:50 AMThere's no need to host a panel on it and waste time since... why would anyone go to a panel about glomping? Not only that, but it wouldn't do much progress as it's a panel... during the convention itself.

I stopped reading this thread on page 2. It started getting repetitive. Anyways people go to panel's about glomping if you offer them candy and if people have enough time to hear about it. Sac Anime host a con etiquette panel. They get a pretty good turn out too. Though Fanime is a pretty big con and I'm not sure how appropriate it would be since it's not really seen as a beginners con like the Sacramento conventions.

Anyways that's my two cents.

I have problems sticking to one cosplay. I like constantly making new and ignoring the old. Anyways the costume I am most consistent with is Larry Butz from Phoenix Wright. Originally I debuted it at Yaoi Con 2007 and I've tried to wear it at every con since... being the Sac Cons and Sac Animes XD I love this costume so much. It's very comfortable. Great for rolling around in the grass and dancing like the freak I am but it's so painful because of the binding job I have to do every time I wear it.
