Kana Nishino would be a beautiful addition to the line up. She's got a killer voice-she's contributed to Naruto ('If" I believe is the song) I think song wise and a couple of dramas. Not to mention she's featured in a lot of the fashion magazines as well so she's super well rounded. Tsubasa Masuwaka is also singing now and did a Fairy Tail opening theme and is obviously a huge fashion icon. XD

Band wise I think SuG would be really popular!

I'll be doing the Gakuen version. ^_^;

Depending on my situation and when the gathering is, I could do Kurama around that time. I was meaning to for 2010 but it fell through. xDDD

We had a lot of fun with all of you that went to the Sailor Moon gathering! <3 We did the Sailor Senshi but made lolita modifications. We were so shocked to know that people liked it and KNEW what we were doing! You all were so sweet and WE HOPE to be doing more Sailor Moon cosplays in the near future! <3 I was the lolita super Sailor Moon if anyone would like to know. I have LOTS of pictures, but I'm in the process of moving. If anything they'll be on my deviantart by the same name as my user name if anyone is interested!

I will be bringing myself and my group friends to this gathering. We'll have a whole set of the original five senshi (in a secret form)!

Moon-BluAyu
Mars-Nica
Mercury-Jenison
Jupiter-LolitaRose
Venus-Chibili

<3
We're looking forward to it!

Whee! Definately hitting this gathering up this time around! I will be going as Lelouch! ^_^

Rwar~ I MIGHT be going as Ciel. It depends on whether or not I can get him finished in time since I have AP classes and exams that might eat me alive. >_>; Going to try my best though! :-)

Kimeru was in Korea and France. It would be amazing if he came.

However, this one electronic group called 'Capsule' would be very neat to have at Fanime. <3 They've done a lot of mixes for other groups like Clazziquai and what not; and they're under the same label as Perfume~ Ooh Perfume would be fun too! ^_^

I stayed at Hotel Montgomery and I didn't see one for this so I decided to rant on it.

Honestly, my stay wasn't that bad. My friend and I chose clean up after ourselves for Saturday, Sunday, and half of Monday instead of letting people do it in fear that my shiny laptop would be nicked (not that it would but I hear SOME places are like that..>_>;;) but when we checked in the people working at the front desk were uber nice even tho we had problems getting our room at first.

The rooms are rather spacious which was just fine with me since my friend and I were sharing. Ooh you can dim the lights in the room-yay for night lights..lol.. I've constantly tripped over stuff at places because they have bright lamps or one big light.

Our window was fun...there was no view but there's space to let day light in. The bathroom was spacy so no tripping over toliets! ^_^; Oh? Their conditioner is god? Yeah whatever they used made my hair so soft!!!

The only problems I had were...I was totally afraid of being charged for like everything. x_x Meh. I'm a paranoid freak.

SLOW INTERNET. o_o It works-I was able to keep in contact with my boyfriend through messenger just fine but after that don't use YouTube...just download your anime beforehand.

There's no drawers in the bathroom. I had make-up..flatirons..ect...kind of felt iffy if I should leave my stuff in the middle of the floor or on the wet counter aka near the sink...even if I cleaned the counter...the sink..-flops- Yes we had a table-like-ish thing there but I was using it for food..yes I brought my own food.

The coffeemaker is really confusing if you're using it to make ramen. I ended up burning myself..the directions are vague and it's one of those complicated coffeemakers that was hard to fit in the cabinet afterward.

Biggest con EVAR..it's kind of far from the con. Especially when you're just walking at night and you're a girl with another girl. It's nice and quiet which is somewhat good but I suggest if you stay here to be with a group because it's slightly irk-ish walking a ways down from the center at night in some cosplay. >_>;;

Over all tho it was good!

I don't know if anyone has heard about Kimeru. He's very talented and does J-Pop/Rock music and has been featured in musicals like TeniMyu and the Japanese version of Pippin! ^_^ He's also collaberated with Daisuke Asakura (TMR's music ring a bell?) and Tetsuya Komuro (Ayu anyone?)... It would be AMAZING if he could come to preform at Fanime Con next year, his crowd interactions are great, he's super cute, and he has an amazing voice!

If you don't know the greatness of Kimeru then:

Registration / Re: Identification Issues

Warning: Small tangent ahead-

In my opinion, there should be no growling or hissing at people who don't bring proper identification. In all reality, if the system is in place, it shouldn't take more than an extra 30 seconds to confirm their identification. (Address? Phone number? Ok.) You can talk about the benefits of having a state ID all you want to, but the fact of the matter remains (and will probably still remain years from now) that a majority of the teenagers attending this convention will not have a state ID or drivers license, nor will they feel the need to until it's time for them to get a job. If police need to find out who you are, well...they're police. They can find out who you are pretty easily regardless of whether or not you have a state ID.

As it is there are no refunds or transfers and I've made it clear before that I think it's kind of unsettling that Fanime gets our money and, whether or not we're satisfied with the convention as a whole, they get to keep it. Yeah, it's a convention run "By fans, for fans"...and those volunteers should know exactly what they're getting into. There will be people who bring school IDs. Probably, a lot of people. Does that mean they should negatively impact the start of that person's convention by being rude or asking them why they didn't bring a government ID? I don't think so.

In the end, don't try to scare people into thinking they really NEED this ID or they'll be forever shunned from Fanime. Every year tons and tons of people pay little to no attention to the identification rules, yet Fanime is almost inclined to give them their badge since they can't transfer their badge, nor can they receive a refund.

[/end]

First off can I say I love you? XD So many people without IDs have gotten "hissed" at as you say... So I'm glad to have someone defending the minors. Job wise-there's even summer and during school work permits too so what's the use of an ID card when there's work permits and school IDs which are usually valid for anything? I mean we eventually do get one but when you're high school...I know nobody at my school who actually had a valid form of government ID unless they drive or travel.

Fanime is going to be my first con and I was totally unaware of the whole ID card process until later on-I had already preregistered in October and didn't figure out until March. T_T;; Proves how often I check the site huh? So I flipped and was thinking, "I've done tons and tons of odd jobs all year long to make this work... how am I going to afford ID much less get someone to take me there?" Yesh lazy parent. No I don't drive or even take bus since yeah..it's just me.

But I got my whole problem resolved about the ID issure after I e-mailed. So e-mailing the registration staff helps a lot if you're unsure. That's the best place to go. They're very helpful!

-nods- I'm really looking forward to Fanime. I admire people who can go to three or four cons a year or so...it takes so much effort and money-especially for those of you that are in highschool and college! Uwa! I feel like it's my 'right-of-passage' so to speak. So thanks for defending the minors on this one! ^_^ I smiled at this reply!

I mean a lot of younger people have support issues. Sure they could get an ID on their own but when they don't know how much they're gonna make from odd jobs (I have no idea HOW much I'm going to have...grah...stupid recycling work...shady and vague-however it helps the enviroment) and getting an appointment ect.ect. showing up ect is a little complicated.

I got an e-mail today from Fanime. School IDs are okay...just need to verify more than you would with a government ID. So I feel like a ton of weights were just lifted off my shoulders. -flops-

I've never heard of this being done at cons. Hm...Something to look into. Why would somebody go through all of that trouble tho? Probably because they can...but that's just strange to me. o_o It would take a lot to copy a school ID though....even if you could fake being the person...especially a sixteen year old male or female unless you have a baby face...o_o;;; -amused-

See? This what I don't get! I'm going through the same problems however, for me it's the fact that I'm not getting any support from my parents on my matter so I'm basically doing everything I can on my own. (Yesh they do not support my anime/Japan related hobbies by any means..lol)

>_>;; I don't get why school IDs aren't valid. Most have the last four-5 digits of the person's social security number now. How could you fake a social security number or at the matter steal a badge without a picture ID and password, ect, ect... ?

Honestly, let's say if someone knows your social security number and place their picture over the school ID or other forms and assumes that person's identity. How would anyone feel from both sides of the party? In this technological age, it's quite easy when you have a computer. You don't have to fake the social security number, you just have to know how and what it is and the con artist is set to steal your identity.

It's better to be safe and take precaution.

How could you fake a social security number or at the matter steal a badge without a picture ID and password, ect, ect... ?My friend even told me when I brought this up, she went to AX which is even a bigger con and they even accepted YEARBOOK pictures and that's a much bigger convention than Fanime by a huge number. o_o Plus they had SKIN there too that year because another person told me they're upping the measures because it's An Cafe's last concert for their worldwide tour. o_o;;

Not whining. Just questioning why it's been upped a little bit when other cons that have a bigger population number have easier ways in...o_o;

If I get an e-mail from Fanime I'll let you know if there are any other methods on getting in without a state ID! :-)

Two things:

1. The original post links to "the CA DMV website" -- except it's not. dmv.org is not affiliated with the state of California or any other state. The link has ads, popups, and has in the past been linked to malware. The correct address would be at dmv.ca.gov. Because the dmv.org website is simply an adsite that posts information from state DMVs, it may or may not be accurate at any given time and should not be used as "the" source.

2. I've just had to have the "I don't think you will be able to go to Fanime" conversation with my daughter, because of the ID policy. There is no legal requirement in California for a 16 year old to have a state-issued ID or to show such a state issued ID. For employment, Federal law says employers can accept other kinds of identification to prove identity and citizenship. (She's not even required to have it when for air travel, because picture ID requirements don't apply to those under age 18.) My daughter does not drive, and will not work until she is older. But even if we wanted to go out and get her a state ID - solely for Fanime -- we could not. She's with me after an acrimonious custody dispute. Her father has her original birth certificate and social security card, and we have no way of getting them back from him, so I'll have to replace those. I had planned to do so in the coming months, because she has summer plans that need them. However, getting a new birth certificate copy will take 6-8 weeks. Without it, she cannot apply for a state ID, so she's unable to have one in time for Fanime.

I sent email to registration about this, but haven't gotten a response; my impression is that they have a high volume of email and I may not ever get a response. Because I'm not willing to pay for memberships and hotel rooms for a con she may be barred from attending, I've had to explain to her that if we don't hear from Reg, we will have to cancel her attendance. She's upset, in part because she's part of a cosplay group and this is late to be letting them know this. It turns out that the other group members also were not aware of this requirement and they probably don't have state ID's either, so they're probably not going to be able to attend anyway.

I've helped run cons on and off for over 20 years. I understand problems with registration and wanting to have valid ID's. I just wanted to point out that there are entirely reasonable situations that would make "just go get a state ID" not a viable solution. I haven't even touched on how this makes Fanime "for citizens only", because you can't get a state ID without a social security number.

Hm...if I wasn't able to get an ID card for the con because of the appointment date and basically them being slow how will this be handled? o_o;; Financally I can't afford it as it is (as explained in my ID problem post)  :( and it's a lot of hassle since I'll *only* be using it for Fanime con and nothing else since I'm sixteen underaged and possibly (or not since driving is somewhat dangerous out here...-is originally for TN but moved to CA) re-thinking on permits and all. I have no use for one until I'm of-age actually. I'm not ever planning to drink ever (that's what it's mainly used for ne?) and if I re-think about getting a permit over the summer than I'm waiting until I'm of age to where there's less hassle. Plus I don't even have a passport (uwa I'm so sheltered...-_-) either... Would there be any other way of having alternitive proof that I am who I say I am and be able to recive my badge since I'm already pre-registered and have been since October of 2007?

Getting an ID card can be used in more usage than one beside Fanime. There are other places that requires it especially if someone can't get a DL. You should try contacting [registration at fanime dot com] about this since you said you register since October. Plus, this topic has been discuss more than once for the past months too about ID.

Oh yeah. I don't used my ID for mainly drinking.

Contacted. Hopefully something will pull through. So far I haven't went anywhere that requires ID. I'm much too busy with keeping up a 4.0 GPA in school to be going too many places. >_>;; -flops- (I want have fun moooore!) Yes, I didn't bother really looking at the site or fourm for a couple months assuming the rules wouldn't change since registration began-rules usually don't change suddenly-I wanted to check the site when it was near the date of the convention itself and paid for not keeping updated...

>> -nods- Assuming is bad on my part. Someone told me that helped and I was like...why would I need an ID for that when I'm underaged? XD

Yay! Thank you guys for all your help! <3 I'll TRY getting one since my friend's I think going to try to help me out tho...I hate being indebted tho...Grah. It wouldn't hurt to try though...I just hope they don't give me too much hassle at the DMV...

I'm underaged. XP So basically having an ID card would be for this only...I saw that too...hmmm it's kind vague though.

I hope it's not impossible for me to attend Fanime though. I've been wanting to attend a convention for years but never really had an excuse to until I became anime club/Japanese club president at my school. I want to show people that it's possible to go no matter what age and also kind of represent...-is a dork- I just think it would be a good experience for me to get out into the world as well.

Yeah possibly. This is really a difficult situation for someone like me. Usually highschoolers don't have their ID Cards unless they drive. For everything else they use their student ID or social security number but even that now a days in on a school ID card so..>_> It would be kind of pointless for me to have it for anything else considering I'd only need it for Fanime and that's it until I'm able to drive and have more freedoms when I'm eighteen...

The thing is-they already paid for registration for me to go before this rule was in effect (it wasn't until November that we were notified of government IDs...ne? Because everyone said I'd be just fine with a school ID that it's how things worked last year. So I pre-registered in October and never really checked back for anything more assuming that the rules were the same as when I pre-registered and didn't find out until just now...T_T)... So basically as a birthday present to me my parents paid for my Fanime badge-they said after that I was on my own and had to earn hotel fee, food, stuffs...>_>;; I have no idea how much my recyling money is gonna leave me with. -stressed- So much for a first convention experience...:-/

Registration / I'm so stuck on this ID thing
April 04, 2008, 02:51:55 AM
I PROBABLY won't have problems with this next year because I plan to get a permit in the summer but I face a HUGE problem. I'm sixteen and this is my first anime convention. Ever. I'm going with a friend whose eighteen and but my problem is...I can't afford an ID from the DMV (I'm basically separating glass, platic, and cans to get spare money for my shared hotel fee and extra money for Fanime as it is) and I have no passport because I've never traveled in my life. So basically, I think I'm stuck and already pre-registered. I have a social security card but I don't think that would help now would it? -flops-
