Things in the Universe / Re: Akward Moments
« on: March 09, 2009, 10:09:24 PM »
Well, let's see.

I was in a hotel in Hawaii with my parents (who are both in a drunken mess), and we were watching the game show network at, like, one in the morning. Then an ad for some male enhancment product comes on and my dad shouts, "Yeah, that's the shit, right there! Works like a charm, baby! Whooweee!"

My mom laughed and I stared at him quietly for a few moments before slowly returning to the TV.

Ooh, Barnes, you're in college? Lucky pants D,: Being a freshman sucks. No one trakes you seriously until you're old enough to drink and have a job -sulks- What's your majorrr?

Major is undeclared. I think I'll be stuck at SJCC for a long time  :(

Hey, still better than being stuck in dumb ol' high school! 8D You'll get it done, you'll get it done~ xD

How experienced are they?

ToraDora... will go over the heads of most people, seeing that it's written and directed for otaku. Any KugiRie show is.

Experienced. We've all been into anime for a long time, and we know all the ropes.

Thanks for all the other suggestions, everyone. I think I'll show Azumanga at some point c:

So.
I run an anime club at my local library, and I've been looking around for some new anime to show.
The members are, pretty bunch, eigth graders and high school freshman.
I already have the Tegami Bachi OVA, but I'm not sure what else.
Preferably a short series that isn't too well known. I might go with Toradora!, but I'd like to know what everyone else thinks.
Any suggestions?

Pft, lookit all you college students, I envy thee D: Personally, I wouldn't mind being a psychologist, or a programmer, or a writer, or a combination of the three. But I'm not too sure yet. (And possibly a freelane artist on the side, as well).

Del Mar High is supreme above all other schools in San Jose

We will reign down upon Fanime this year

Pfft, what was that, stranger from a rival school? c<
Leigh will own this convention.
Just you wait.

(Hahaha, I've visited Del Mar before, for a soccer game against Leigh. Awesome stadium, it's so big~ -cheers- )

...D:
Seriously.
Anime cons are insanely fun, yes, but not something you run away from home with a 40-year-old man for.

Bleh.
As if the anime crowd doesn't have a bad rap already. -sighs-
Hope Kalai gets home safe D:

So.
For those of you who live locally...
What school do you go to? What schools did you used to go to?
Or if you don't want to say your school, how about the district?

Just curious.
And I want to see how many people here I may know/live near 8D

I live up in the Santa Clara area, so downtown is only about 45 minutes away 8D Extremely convienent. Lasy summer I would go downtown once a week for a class at the MLK Library and one of the days we walked down to the convention center and I screamed, "BEST. PLACE. EVUR."

General Anime Chat / Re: What Manga Are You Reading Lately?
« on: March 05, 2009, 08:44:53 PM »
...well. Let's see~.

Tegami Bachi - I don't know exactly why I like it so much, but it's just completely amazing. Maybe it's the giant bug things that run around killing things in the lightless parts of Amberground 8D And the adorable main character that looks way too much like Allen Walker for his own good.

Ouran High School Host Club - Recently started reading this due to my friend Erin and fell in love with it after the first five minutes. I'm cosplaying as either Kaoru or Hikaru on Monday c: I love comedy manga, I really, really do~ -hums-

D.Gray-man - Well, at least, I was, until I finally caught up and discovered 'Oh, sorry, Hoshino-sensei's sick, no more updates for you!' and went 'ASDFH THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME -headesk-' Luckily, it's returning either later this month or in April, so I can indulge in it's amazingness once more c: I'm cosplaying as Allen on Saturday~(yullenftw)

Fushugi Yugi - My friend Robin got me into this one, and it's one of those manga that I'm almost sure I would't like, but I do. I really do.  I hate the main heroine but the plot in charming and I love Nukriko to DEATH (whom I may cosplay as on Sunday).

switch - I'm sure not many know of this one, but seriously, adorable druggie-busting cop + his amazing partner whose name I adore = MAJOR WIN

One Fine Day - Ok, it's not a manga, it's a manhwa, but that does nothing to decrease it's amazingness. Put simply, it's a sledgehammer of cute to the face. Adorable things make me giggle.

Sumomo, Momomo! - 10 year old pink-haired girl trying to convince her teenage fiance to get in bed with her? Slight feeling of creepiness, but it's way too ridiculous and funny to be taken really seriously. Really. And Momoko is adorable, although a little too stereotypical-wife-like for my tastes.

...and pretty much anything that's being serialized in Yen+. I love that magazine to death~.
