Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Art Show / Gallery - for 2020
« on: December 07, 2019, 10:22:04 PM »
Actually the last time I saw it, anyone was welcome to showcase their artworks. It was fun and it felt easy..the only problem is people had to bring their own Hooks.

I mean, I just want to see some wonderful illustrations from those who could not participate for artist alley!
and Art gallery seems to fit the bill.

Ideas and Suggestions / Art Show / Gallery - for 2020
« on: October 14, 2019, 01:24:20 AM »
I know this is A HUGE undertaking to ask this out loud for ideas and suggestions but I was thinking of wanting to volunteer to take control of the Art show/gallery for Fanime con.

WE HAD one before around...2016?..maybe 2015?...
but lately, the art gallery was removed for a very long time.

are we not going to have this anymore or is there a reason why we aren't having one?..

(Sorry but the Fanime con Art show doesn't qualify because it felt more of a promotion of the yester-years past)

What I am talking about is an actual art gallery from those who worked hard to showcase their gifts.

So despite we might not get one for 2020, is it possible to volunteer for it to take-in charge?.. what do I need to do once I get accepted?
Again, I really apologized if this is in the wrong thread, but it does qualify for an idea/suggestion!

• Introduction:
Hello my name is Hachimitsu (Male - Age 34) and I would like to let you know I book a hotel and I have a few friends wanting to stay over.

As of now, I am slowly steadily preparing myself for Fanimecon (along with several other conventions).
I really do love to play video games, Cosplay and love to draw. There are times where I had some great success's with artist alley and miserable moments like ....artist alley.
Apparently, Swap meet always cheered me up but whenever I got the chance to be the seller, I usually ask the people from my roommates to "HELP ME".

Last year was a blast, but the same time it also created some mixed Feelings on "enjoyment".
I really hope next year will be a better improvement than 2014, but all in all, it wasn't a complete disaster.

My huge interests are:
Kingdom hearts, Legend of Zelda, Sailor Moon, Pokemon and anything nintendo/sega related. Magi: Labyrinth / Kingdom of magic (because I love genies)

Amenities :
 • Your Own Key
 • Coffee Machine (hotel already has this built in)
 • Refrigerator
 • Wi-Fi Internet access
 • Parking access? (this needs to be researched though but i heard its $60 for the entire week but this was last years response)
- Microwave (i'm going to try and ask for one, since I hear this was more of a request service)
- Art / Crafting Supplies
- MORE PLUG OUTLETS!!!(seriously I noticed last year i have no power space T_T)
- Water bottles (Seriously you are going to need one O_O)
* Food/snacks (it's still undecided but I need to get something for you guys to have and eat!

I know this is expensive to you but to me, your helping paying the hotel, followed by having your very own key as well.
however, Do not pay me yet (right now I am working and trying to calculate some things here and there)

• Requirements:
- For once i really like to have a conversation of how your doing, if your okay ya know, but try not to joke when i am in trouble
- I am very stressful and late, so please don't be mad at me, I have a very good reason!..mostly artist alley and gallery
- If I am a messy person, I will clean my mess up as neat as possible, also try to be neat and nice as well O_O!..
- DO NOT BRING COLORED SODAS! they will charge ALOT of money, I learned my lesson after strawberry soda, so just bring clear soda or just water!
- if I feel depress, please cheer me up!. it helps a lot!
* All beds/sofas cannot be ASKED, they are only givin by generosity on my behalf (or paid in advance) *
*If you plan on inviting your guests and friends, i highly recomend you ask your fellow roomates in advance, I had an issue before from the past involving with courtesy onto others*
PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE THE AIR CONDITIONING, I weight much less than you and can catch a flu very easily.
PLEASE RESPECT other peoples belongs with care, There will be a moment where I will move your stuff along, just to make the bed clean and organised so you can sleep healthy and easy. I respect your stuff and I don't want to damage them.

• Contact:
~you can private message me
( I do have the right to decline offers, please be aware of this )

+ Miscellaneous:
I am Attending Artist alley
Hoping to register for Swap meet soon!!!!
I do get stressed out a lot.
I will also bring some Cosplay materials incase if anything is needed on mending

as of now I can only fit One more GUESTS but again, I cannot confirm who is going and who is not, so far I am still trying to apply for floor plans here and there.. and so far I think I a running out of space!... The hall space i know is one area I want to claim, because the bed was design for those who have problems sleeping or partially disability.
I am still awaiting confirmation from misachan, phemento and solodavid99.

Last minute changes???
Don't feel bad if you find a better deal than mines, your welcome to note me and say you found someone else. I just want to help out.. that is all! Even if it's on the day of the convention... (but if you paid me already, your only getting 2/3'rds of your refund back.)

I remember two years ago we weren't able to bring it wheeled carts, will that still be the case?

hey wait a second.. I remember two years ago people DID bring wheel like carts into the set!.. and  it's only allowed as long as it doesnt block traffic to those who walk in....!!!!

sorry i kinda missed out on 2016 since i was promise for a wedding but ended up with delayed response at a later date...
anyway YEAY... WE NEED bigger space but I hope the price isn't too high T_T!.....I got alot of stuff i wanna get rid of and alot of stuff i wanna buy!!!!

« on: January 18, 2017, 09:10:58 AM »
I apologize for taking so long for another update! I just didn't have anything positive to update.

Independently, another artist and I are going to try to set up a home for local artists that coincides and compliments the timing of FanimeCon. I had originally sent this idea on to Fanime, but I have not heard a response in more than a month. We got to thinking that maybe we should take that as a sign that if we want to get something done, we should just do it ourselves. So with that motivation in mind, please wish us luck! Feel free to find and message me at www.facebook.com/MoonbugsMakes or email andrea@moonbugwings.com if you'd like any more details or have suggestions. :)

Thanks, everyone! If anything changes I will continue to pop in on here to update.

Thank you moonbug for your hard work T_T!... i really did had plans on bringing a figure i want to showcase that i dont think anyone has seen before.. but then i may need to talk about the rules and regulations part (since the art was from scott campbell, but the sculpture was from rhvel?....but the coloring is from me...) but this idea was added since i think the last time i saw something amazing was a giant dragon sculpture but afterwards felt like my work hasn't contribute much audiences at all v_v!... except the mami tomoe one.. that one was awesome!!!
and the other artist who did the paper cut illustrations (mines was digital cut illustrations)

Hotel and Facilities / (need to change a reservation.....? don't worry)
« on: January 18, 2017, 08:02:29 AM »
Apparently I had to go make a new reservation and the old confirmation gets replace instantly with the new changes...

So if you happen to register for the wrong dates... go back and make a new one, and double checck everything...
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HIT REFRESH BUTTON ( F5 I think )BUT DO NOT HIT THE BACK BUTTON!... thats how it reverts to default settings...

So happy i got this fixed because the dates I first had, was wrong.. and had to make a new reservation instead of going to the modify reservation.

So yeah. if you screw up... make a new one As soon as possible, and double check with fanime con housing number.

I'm already set now.. waiting for Swap meet registration to come soon!

In that order!

but yeah.. got the email of the wrong dates but not the email with the right ones -_-!
(already calling fanime housing for help on viewing a confirmation)

I know this is a big important issue to add but apparently I accepted card transactions from a few people except ONE which is NICOLE J LAM. I sold nintendo figure to her and now a few months later shes asking a charge back! and today i am still fighting against it!

I STRONGLY URGE PEOPLE NOT TO DO CARD TRANSACTIONS WHATSOEVER (Paypal here / Square) despite i have alot of proof that she was there!

just wanted to add a note that Card transactions are great substitute to sell but there are times where they can BACK stab you so I wouldn't Rely on it 100%

Live Programming and Events / Re: Questions for Swap Meet 2015?

actually it also happened in artist alley registration so.. that too isn't the only line con!!!!!

You may want to check out the FAQ from last year's swap meet:

As a last minute staff member for swap meet last year, I can't say much has changed drastically except for the location, and the assignment process. It used to be that the spots were first-come, first serve, but they are now randomly assigned to prevent combining spaces into a "super-space" and to prevent vendors from abusing the swap meet.

Also, the location is always a work in progress. I think every year we get great feedback on where it is and how we can improve access...last year's swap meet (in case you missed it) had GIGANTIC lines. Line-con wasn't at registration, it was at swap meet. As for this year, we'll just have to see.

We look forward to seeing you!

Live Programming and Events / Re: Questions for Swap Meet 2015?
« on: January 04, 2015, 11:04:02 PM »
there is a sign up and it is first come first serve.. but as of now there is NO known information fact about swap meet..

Last year swap meet was made 1 week before fanime! and we are soo lucky to have swap meet appear last year!

So, looking at the polls, I think it should just be first come first served with a jury selection as a hybrid. There should be some other way to get this done. How has other cons done it? What do you artist want? What do the people want? We need more votes.

AOD is using the Lottery system....and something called "PREMIUM tables" / "regular tables"
I think i had more luck with the first come/first serve system then the lottery. now this year we have more new artists coming to fanime this year, i fear traffic will shut down like how Housing has done.

Fanime 2015 WILL STILL BE using the jury system as before...so my chances are still high but the same time LOW. Since my response from AA was: "We don't have enough tables / we don't have enough space"

Let's face it, Fanime has outgrown San Jose.
A more correct term is that Fanime has consumed San Jose. with each year, it takes more and more of downtown. And now it is going even beyond that.

I've heard staff say they don't want to move because the next biggest place is the moscone in frisco, and it is not exactly to their liking.

I wouldn't mind Moscone, but the decision isn't up to me. :P

The price for moscone is very expensive, and hotels WILL be more pricier than the ones in san jose!.. ALSO even though it's bigger, the venues are going to be hard to seperate from each other.

The biggest problem is traffic, and Raised ticket price!....

MOscone is nice, but i don't think i want to experience another horrible moment like wondercon did! (when san francisco held that)
