Thank you for your thorough reply!
I was primarily interested in Content...I do understand the type of work that needs to be done for Content, since I always read the Program Guides every year and pick up the At-Con newsletters. I don't know if I would be a good candidate for Content, though :/
The only experience I have besides school assignments is probably personal blogging. I am very good at listening to instructions, though (I know this skill would be good for Print, but I don't think I could commit to all those pre-con meetings).

What hours should Print and Content staff expect to work? Would it be a lot more preparation pre-con, during the con, etc.?

I could provide my own vocals...I think I have a decent voice but I need some vocal training ^^;

All I can play is some piano/keyboard, a little recorder, flute, and bassoon (band geek ftw). =.=; I want to pick up ocarina and guitar and drum set/percussion :/

I've been trying really hard to convince the mumzy to let me go to Kintoki and it's not working T.T

Does Fanime/MF have a good relationship with Sony Japan? Considering Nami Tamaki, An Cafe, FLOW, and Yuya are Sony's...TROLOLOL

I'll ask for SCANDAL, the Gazette, and YUI as well then :D

The concert was so FANTASTIC! It was really nostalgic hearing some of the songs, especially 1/3 Junjou na Kanjou. Really, me and my girlfriend flipped out when we heard it xD I didn't expect to hear them play that song, especially since it's so old, it reminded me of watching Rurouni Kenshin back in the day. I had such a blast getting to experience this concert! Both FLOW and Yuya gave amazing performances :)

The reason they played it is because they just recently released their own cover version of it:

(In case you're interested~)

Oh, I was wondering why they were covering an obscure song like that :) thanks for showing me!
Who was it originally sung by?

If anyone can be on the lookout for anyone selling the FLOW "On The Line" t-shirt in a S size, I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
I'm going to be looking out for it on eBay and garagesalejapan. If you know any other websites or LJ communities where i could possibly find people selling, please let me know. Thanks!

1/3 no junjou na kanjou was originally sung by "siam shade" :D
Thank You! :D
FLOW interview with tokyohive:

"Why did you choose to perform at Fanime again?" "Cause I love Fanime Con!"

We are FLOW!

I love the sound of that LOL :D

Okay, so I'm going to ask if anyone knows where I can still get the FLOW "On the Line" t-shirt. Unfortunately, I had decided to buy the t-shirt the next day, but by the end of the day I planned this, it was sold out.

the kpop artists that have performed in the city get a significant amount of money to perform (probably exceeds fanime's budget)  the tickets for the events at mighty start at 50 (which is 5 less than a pre-reg fanime pass). the promoter makes money from a % of the bar, table commission, and sponsorships... none of which are replicable at fanime.  perhaps you can convince that promoter to throw an event in san jose during the con so you can walk to it.

My own suggest for Musicfest (which is what this thread is about) is: morning musume

Sounds fair enough.
I second MoMusu. I believe they have performed at AX and Japan Expo. :/

I'll also add that I would suggest kanonxkanon/Kanon Wakeshima, PIKO, supercell, UVERworld, Aqua Timez, and Aya Hirano. Just some ideas...

Ah yes! I would LOVE to see FLOW again!! They always put on a great show :3

Hm, I guess the gathering wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but it was my first gathering cosplaying, so I'm grateful that a Vocaloid gathering was set up :)
Being an uncommon character (Dell Honne), I only saw one other of me LOL.

I'm curious to know if anyone went to the Miku Hatsune/Vocaloids Live in Japantown SF that one time there was a festival and Mori Chack came :S I totally forgot when this happened...but there was a concert in the Viz Pictures Cinema Hall in the New People building.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Schedule Please!!!
« on: May 30, 2011, 10:05:02 PM »
This. A million times this. The small booklets from last year were so convenient and awesome and we were bombarding Fanime with such praises for it last year I was honestly baffled when I found out that not only did they not make a comeback, but there were no printed schedules at all. As I mentioned in the feedback thread, I got the idea that a LOT of people were just wandering around aimlessly because they had no idea what was going on except for the main big events.

I think from all the complaints that Fanime has gotten and will receive going forward regarding the schedules that they will make a comeback next year.
YES.
Also agreed. If paper/money is an issue, just ask if the attendee wants one when they pick up their badge, noting that its also online. Some people might not want it, and it'll discourage the zillions of extra copies from being wasted like in 2010.
Agreed.

Imagine the look on my face when I did not see that godsend mini-booklet schedule in my reg bag.

I know there can be troubles with panels with all the cancellations and changes, but in the long run, it can totally be useful for large events like musicfest and keeping an eye on the times for the exhibit halls. I always forget how early dealers hall closes :/

kpop groups would be awesome, but this is an anime convention, so I don't think that'll work out :\

If they're relevant to Japanese pop culture, it's possible~

MF has hosted artists/bands who have had absolutely no connection to anime (thinking back to con years 2003-2007), and the audiences have enjoyed them regardless.

I was thinking of 2PM...their Japanese debut single, Take Off, is the first ending for Blue Exorcist/Ao no Exorcist. I have also noticed that Japan is going through a heavy Hallyu Wave at this moment :/

2PM I know HAS performed in SF as well as a few other US cities as the opener for the Wonder Girls (a girl kpop group). Two of the members I think know pretty good English...I know one was literally scouted in LA at the Korean Music Festival. :/ I suppose it's a start.

Ideas and Suggestions / Re: Guests I Want for Fanimecon 2012!!!!!!!

BUT TO STAY ON TOPIC: I'd die happy if CLAMP came to Fanime. xD That's another impossible one though. |D;

I remember when I met CLAMP. It was... exactly what I thought it would be. A bunch of very anti-social women who are very on the unattractive side, being anti-social and thinking they're better than everyone else in the room.
bahaha
I think I would expect that as well...but their work is phenomenal nonetheless.

Ideas and Suggestions / Suggestions for Fanime 2012
« on: May 30, 2011, 09:41:06 PM »
But yes. More planning (schedules printed, time between panels, clear flow for entering/leaving large areas) and more focus on ensuring safety and smooth flow of events, less on "We're in charge now, NO ORANGE SNEAKERS!"
I would like to promote whole schedule situation.
I'd like to cheer on the mini schedule book that was given out last year in the fanime reg bags. That book was AH-MAZING!! It made my planning so much easier because I am more of a scratch out and highlight things on schedules so I can focus on what events I want to go to and not get all dizzy and confused with the grid and all. Not only that, but it had so many good tips in it for those first-years and veterans alike.
I did not like the online schedule at all. Mainly because I don't want to have to go online to see the schedule and because the mobile website wasn't of much help to me either.

I'd like to suggest to Fanime to try making a guide for the Conventionist App, an amazing app which provides information and directions to the convention, as well as a list of vendors(dealers hall/artist alley) and their booth locations. There are also maps of the convention center and the locations of all vendor booths in a hall. Not to mention a very easy to read schedule in which you can "like" events and check off events you would like to attend and add them to your own customized schedule created on the app. There is also a to-do list for the app user, a button that lets users follow a convention's tweets (basically users can read @fanimecon's tweets on it for event updates!), and a key events list (this is where fanime would place event locations and timings for events such as the cosplay spectacular, musicfest, and the black and white ball).
I have this app and I downloaded a few convention guides. Looks like anime cons such as Sakura-Con, Anime LA, and SacAnime have taken advantage of this app :)

My other suggestion is to get a much bigger ballroom for the Black and White Ball! This was my first year going to the ball, so I don't have much experience with how the ball usually goes and all...but I definitely noticed the constant updates on the ballroom having come to full capacity and such. When I left, there was a HUGE line that even went far outside of the Fairmont. I was a bit disappointed with that because so many people had dressed up so nicely for the occasion but they had to stand outside and wait until some person inside the ballroom decided to leave, even only for a bathroom break.

Well, that's all I really wanted to say. Fanime is really special to me, and I find it important for me to give suggestions to Fanime :) Thanks for reading!

P.S: I love the Swap Meet so much that I would love to have it go on every day of the con. But, I am happy with what is given now (two days).
And perhaps have more Open Mic Karaoke time? It's always so late in the day when there are major events going on and/or so late that I have to go home by then.
