I agree.

If you liek anime, show some respect to the creators and fans and dress properly.

It's a anime convention,not a GWAR concert! >:(

also.some need to stay quiet and enjoy the videos shown instead of bashing it and sayin."why doesn't that girl just hit him?" or "oh yeas, a talking doll can do that.Pathetic" Just shut up and enjoy it! >:(

now that I think about it....If was to sell cologne, listerine packs, and deodorant if I was there, I would make a fortune! :D 8)

WONDERFUL IDEA!!! WE CAN MAKE SOME SERIOUS CASH FROM STINKERS!

With that amount of money, It can pay my Fanime expenses for over 10 years! :o

What you guys don't realize is that them Stinkers will not likely care to smell good anyway.
Now see if we apply this plan to Febreeze cans we are gold.

They'll buy it because i'll force them to buy them with my fist!!! >:(

also, we can probably put the words "love potion" on the febreeze cans.

So much money......*starts drooling*

Dude, I'm down to go to Costco and make this shit happen. I can buy anything I want. Just target those stinkers!!!!  THINK! DONT STINK!!!!

THINK! DONT STINK!
THINK! DONT STINK!
Most Impressive.

LOL! :D

I doubt the staff will let us do something like that. :D

And if we did, we may get like 50 fat, hairy, smelly, 30 year old guys asking for a refund saying. "You told me this potion would get me laid!! >:("  :D

But I would so do it if it would be my last fanime.>.>

It can probably never be said enough times, TAKE A DAMN SHOWER!
If you don't, I will find you and use a fireman's hose on you. But I know most advisements about showering will fall on deaf ears anyway.
If only fanime had a squad to capture and scrub down people.

I'll have you know the scumdogs of the universe promote proper hygiene...usually after slaying and eating a few people.

psycrop

lol is it really that bad at cons for people to take a shower?

so many people seem to stress this point. damn otakus! have all the time of the world to read/watch anime but not a few minutes to shower  :-X

chris-barstow

I have one request if you decide to take a bathroom shower (use sink to clean self) Please keep your pants on... yeah last year little creepy walking in on a shirtless, pantless, and bannahamock wearing dude washing himself.

The rovers should have stickers that say "must shower" or something so that they can stick them on people.

Staff has been explicitly forbidden from spraying stinky people with air freshener this year. Shame. Rovers do give "friendly" reminders, though.

Yes, TAKE A SHOWER, that's a must do, or I'll hose you down too

It only takes a few mintues to shower and put on deodorant. :< It's not that difficult.

Also, in big crowds of people where it can get rather warm (like the dance), you might want to shower before AND after going there so you don't stink up the place beforehand and then stink up the halls afterward...

I like the idea of printing the badges on air fresheners, but those usually just add to the stink. Let's instead include soap an a trial-sized deodorant in the little bag with the schedule, etc.  ;D We need to find a sponsor to get on this! Think of all the advertising that they can get from this, especially once stinkers realize that the hot cosplayer they are oogling might give them the time of day if they can breathe...

Better idea -- encase the badges in clear soap, then make them invalid if it looks like the soap hasn't been used. Make sure that each day, the soap is worn down further than the last (so people don't cheat and just run it under water for a couple of minutes Friday morning and leave it that way for the con -- it seems like it would be less effort to just shower than to cheat, though!).

I think a lot of these people don't realize they smell. They took their morning shower, put on deoderant...and stopped having friends around 4:00PM. What gives?

If you let them know, please be kind about it. Also it's better to hear it from a friend than a stranger who runs up to you, throws deoderant in your face, and yells, "YOU STINK!"

I posted this a few years ago, but ...

If you just rode into town, after a ten hour road trip to Fanime with five of your friends in that small car without air conditioning, you may have Fan-boy Funk.

If its day two of Fanime and you get on the elevator with a group of people, that immediately get off at the first available stop, leaving you behind, you may have Fan-boy Funk.

If your over night kit consists of a comb, and cologne,  you might have Fan-boy Funk.

"Why do birds suddenly disappear, every time you are near?"  It's not a bad omen,  you may have Fan-boy Funk.

When you walk thru the concourse,  do people keep checking the bottoms of their shoes?   Then you may have Fan-boy Funk.

If on Sunday your still wearing the same clothes you wore on Thursday,  you may have Fan-boy Funk.

If you pulled an all-nighter in the hentai room,  you may have Fan-boy Funk.

That vendor in the dealers room you just bought that DVD from with tears in his eyes.  Were those tears of joy over a cash purchase, or is it  Fan-boy Funk?

If you are in a video room, watching the second story in  Katsuhiro Otomo's "Memories", do people turn around and point at you?   Then you may have Fan-boy Funk.

If you haven't bathed since Wednesday,  you may have Fan-boy Funk.

If people start saying to you "You stink!",   GET A CLUE!!!  YOU'VE GOT FAN-BOY FUNK!

So remember boys, and girls: "Attend, don't offend."

Knightfire

Being that I'm at the convention center at least 12 hours a day during fanime (even more if I'm staying in a room), one shower isn't enough. I take a breather and enjoy a second hot shower. I also carry a stick of deodorant and a small spray can of Axe in my back back around the convention center and periodically reapply through out the day.

Two thumbs up for the above.

While I was in the dealer's room, I heard a story of one attendant who had a kid in tow, er attached at the hip as the little one was maybe 4-5 months old. Dad said he kept lifting junior up a bit, to see if he had a surprise, cuz... yeah. Nope... wasn't junior. Was eau de geek.

I'm under the impression that the ones who need to read these posts the most... don't.

We know the benefits, shower/room time can be a great way to recharge as well, get your bearings and get ready for another run in the CC and hotels. Sadly, I just don't think those in need are gonna get the clue. Boys or girls.

How to solve this dilemma...???

Yes, that is the giant hurdle to jump. They are already used to not taking advice from people(given that these certain geeks wear the same clothes for a period of days and are very malnourished) ,so shouting at them is advise falling on deaf ears.
