I'm certainly not on the housing staff or anything, but I've heard a possibility that there may not even be official Fanime rooms/pricing at the Hilton this year, it's still being worked out.

On average, their "regular" prices (not a deal with a con) are about $189 a night for a single king bed.

Please refrain from saying something along the lines of what I have quoted above. This is how rumors spread and I definitely don't want to see something like this spread.

Generally, pricing for hotel rooms are negotiated up until about a week or two before they're announced. The reason for the 1-2 week delay in announcing it is because we tend to take a week or two to create/modify/finalize/etc. the hotel website. Also, we like to announce hotel pricing and such after they're finalized so our members don't feel as if we're giving them the bait-and-switch or something like that.

[Edit 1a: I said the wrong thing in my reply. I meant to say "Please refrain from saying something that can be mistaken as 'fact'. If a staff member says it, please reference that to avoid confusion." Sorry! :(

[Edit 1b: One of our vice-chairs made a post regarding the hotel rooms, but please remember that it wasn't a definite statement and we will officially announce something regarding official FanimeCon blocked hotel rooms ("rooms that have been set aside for FanimeCon members").

I'm sorry. It's just something I've seen posted by more official sources in other threads which is why I thought it would be useful for the poster to be aware of.

This isn't written in stone, but because of the Hilton renovations as well as the increase in Fanime staff, there is a possibility that the Hilton will not be open to members. Please keep this in mind when you're looking at hotels and start to plan your trip.

We will keep you updated with the list of hotels that will have the special Fanime rates as well.

Sorry, didn't mean to create confusion or anxiety in our members!

I wanted to give our members a heads up that it is only a possibility that the Hilton may not have open housing for members. We are negotiating the rooming situation to accomodate our hard working staff which, coupled with the renovations, may not leave much room for the members.

I did not want our members to assume that any hotel, most namely the Hilton, will be open to general members. I think giving a heads up as to the possibility that one hotel may not be open to be fair warning.

Again, it is only a possibility so just have a Plan B or even Plan C just in case. We don't want you to be homeless during the weekend afterall!
