Never mind, I just read a recent post with the same question as mine. Sorry!

*edit*

Hello! So I just bought this (http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=dress%5Fdressy&product%5Fid=2080734273&Page=all&pgcount=25) dress today thinking I'd wear it to the Ball when I realized it might be too short. When I got home, I measured it to be roughly 4 inches above my knee. /:

I was wondering if I could wear black leggings underneath or something of the sort so I'd be allowed to wear this dress. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I couldn't, but I do like this dress a lot.

Thanks in advance!

Hikari - Unfortunately that is a little high regardless if you wear leggings underneath or not.  Sorry.

Thanks, Jim. I'm going to look through my closet for something to wear underneath to give me the extra inch I'll need. Luckily, the dress isn't as short on me as it is on the model lol

Honeybee

I'm cosplaying as a Indian-like girl and I thought it'd be cool to wear a sari.
Would a sari be okay to wear?  The cloth I have is blue and gold.

Honeybee,

A traditional Sari would be fine to wear to the BWBall.

I would like to have a formal version of Ty Lee from Avatar the Last Airbender but she had an epic belly shirt. Would I be able to keep this aspect of the costume design or would I have to cover my stomach? Maybe with nude spandex?

Noyzz

Also the fabric used for the outfit would be a brocade.

Noyzz, I would have to say that the belly shirt nor the nude color spandex would work with the semi-formal theme.  I would probably suggest that you lengthen the top a bit to cover the stomach area or aim for a different version of Ty Lee's costume.  I hope that helps.

Hi! I have a question about an outfit:

This outfit is okay right? http://i33.tinypic.com/17ae7n.jpg But I'm going to be wearing these boots: http://www.shoebuy.com/pleaser-electra-2020/242408/519208 Is that allowed?

Please and thank you!

The outfit looks good.  The boots, I would say ok to because it is part of the cosplay and does look a bit more formal than other boots.  My only concern is that they are platforms so they can be hard to dance in and please make sure that the boots are not rubber soled because those mark up the dance floor.  Let me know if that helps.

OMG! That helps a lot. Thank you! And I should be able to dance in those platforms. ^^ Another question...how can tell if it's rubber soled or not? o.O

After reading through the thread~
Someone asked about Kimonos and it was said that they were allowed if made of quality materials.
I was wondering if a cotton kimono was acceptable-it's extremely well taken care of, is made of quality cotton, and has a proper children's obi.  It's certainly not my first choice, but I think both of my formal dresses are right at the point of being too short and I don't think my Hetalia or Ouran cosplays look nice enough to work.  :-[ I'll see if I can get a picture attached...

You won't know until you examine them in person.  But usually it should say somewhere on the bottom of the show or on the shoebox somewhere.

I am going to have to say no to the kimono.  As mentioned before, if it is a traditional kimono of quality materials then I would say yes.  As for your two formal dresses, maybe they may meet the length requirement.  As for your cosplays, is there any way to make them a little more formal?  Just trying to think of ways to help out.  I would really hate for something like this to prevent you from going to the BWBall.

I pulled out my ruler- EDIT: I do believe I've found one that works! Although, the website said 2 inches and here it says 3, so I was a tad confused. Nevertheless I think it still fits that quota. Thanks for all the help!  ;D

i know you said no ballet shoes, but what about jazz shoes?  they're more stable because of the little heel bit:

Splendid, thank you.  I'm a dancer, so I've got plenty of dancing shoes.  I'm also gonna be dancing with a guy part of the time who's the same height as me, so I don't wanna wear heels :D

i am guessing long leggings are excluded from the ball, but i will still ask it.

are leggings banned?

iNSOMNiAC

I'm a little confused about whether "bare shoulder" is allowed or not. The cosplay I plan on wearing has a vest, and no sleeves. Here is a picture.

Its somewhat formal attire, I'm just not sure if its formal enough. Not to mention things like the boots, I'm not sure if that's not quite formal enough either (there's no armor on mine, its just boot covers). I'd appreciate input, thank you!

It depends on how the leggings are worn.  If you are just wearing leggings by themselves that is a no.  But if you are wearing leggings underneath a dress of the right length (using it like stockings) then it is fine.  I am not sure how you are going to wear the leggings, but if you could provide a sample picture or drawing I could give you more of a definite answer.  But that is what I have for now.

The vest since it is part of the cosplay should be fine.  It is still keeping with the formal theme, I would suggest you try to wear maybe a long sleeve underneath if you can but that is just a suggestion.  As for the boots that would be a now.  They tend to be too bulky and tend not to stick with the formal theme.  Let me know if that helps.

That definitely helps a lot, thanks very much for getting back to me! As for the shoes, if it helps, I have a picture of me wearing mine, they aren't very bulky at all, but I can see how they may not fit with the formal theme. Here's the picture.

If you can, please let me know if this changes anything, or if they're still not OK. I really appreciate it, thank you!
