I think that back up option only exist for PS3 that can actually turn on.. :\

Too bad it doesn't apply to me..-_-;

pull the hd and check if you can retrieve files by plugging it to your desktop.

I was actually thinking of doing that. Gotta see if it'll work when I get a chance to look into it I guess.

That's if it is in a format that can be read (FAT32 / NTFS / LINUX / Mac OS Extended for example)

Wouldn't it be in fat32 or ntfs format if they didn't install a 3rd party OS on it?

just checked google right quick.  it's fat32.

you can check it on your desktop.  :)
