I. am. so. happy. right. now.

This better be good.  I don't know who J.J. Abrams is but, everyone is praising him like he's a god, so I'd say things are looking great.  I didn't see if Genndy Tartakovsky was working on it, which is kind of weird, but whatever.

J.J. Abrams was the guy behind the tv show Lost and movies like Cloverfield and the new Star Trek.

Considering how well recieved the new Star trek film [by Abrhams]  - Heck I liked it.  :)

I'm hoping Samurai Jack will get re-vitalized from this major motion picture as well.
I was sad after 4 seasons, they canceled the show when Jack randomly adopted a baby :P

My major hope is that they keep all the original voice cast.
Despite the fact that on a "typical episode" Jack himself barely spoke MAYBE 5 words the entire episode.

Hated it big time.  Way to off cannon (and that "alternate time-line" B.S. don't fly).  Worst sets, second worst score, awful acting, terrible story, and more lens flares than a season full of C.S.I. Miami.

I'm still suprised. considering that if you look at other star trek attempts at the "reboot" like Enterprise... didnt you think that having the Enterprise N-X was a bit more 'inconsistent' with the technology back dating?

its sci fi, you have to accept that somet events can be "re-written"

heck if you think about star trek generations, they screwed around with time so that Kirk would be able to meet Picard, and then Kirk died someplace completely random rather than his "own time line"

so not all the star trek movies are that epic, so again i respect your opinion to bash this new one by JJ Abraham, but just keep in mind, not all the previous that all stellar either. :P

Generations was bad also (not as bad ad Star Trek 2009) as well as some of the others.
If you acctually watched Enterprise, you'd know it attempted to connect lots of elements of the movies, and the next Generation series.  Much more consistant.  Not a so called "alternatr Time-line", and a bunch of really far fetched coincidences.
No, you don't have to accept a complete rewrite of a franchise (sci fi or not)
Star Trek 2009 wasn't just a bad Star Trek movie in name, it was a bad movie period.

at least simon pegg was in the movie:

the guy from Shaun of the dead & Hot fuzz

and john cho

Harold & Kumar and the 'milf' dude from american pie.

LoLcat in space. :P

Two more reasons not ot see the Samurai Jack movie.  By the way that's what the topic's about.

 semi back on topic. ->

I wonder if they will pull a darth vader, and whoever they cast to be the Live action version of Samurai Jack, will be actually voiced by

Phil Lamar - the original voice of " Jack "

Or better yet, just dont have Jack speak... until literally the end of the movie.

Is it even possible to have a COMPLETELY silent action film? [silent in the sense of almost no dialogue] not as in you dont hear anything.

imagine - an entire movie muted and seeing subtitles for the -

[ Explosions, grunting, footsteps, swords clanging, etc ] i wonder how weird that would be. :P

It'll be interesting to see how the art style and imagery will transition over from the cartoon.

If any movie could pull it off, Samurai Jack could.  I remember episodes where not a word was spoken during long action sequences.  They pulled it off nicely.

However, I would not want it to be 100% silent.  Phil Lamar did an awesome job being the voice of Jack.  I'm just hoping the Scottish guy gets some time in the movie because that guy is hilarious.

If you want a good example of a movie with action, and almost no dialogue, watch "Bullitt".  Even when the actors are speaking in many sceens, it's almost like background conversation.

Even "There Will Be Blood" has many  great sceens with virtualy no dialogue (yes, I know it also has some very memorable lines...)that have much action and drama.

Glitch

I don't know what exactly will happen in a Samuria Jack movie, but I'm pretty sure the ending will have jack almost going back in time, but stopping in order to help his comrades who are losing. Even though going back in time would prevent the bad guys(Aku)from ever getting into power.

furubaholic

it does sound cool i mean if they choose good actors it could be phenomenal. so i guess we will see

ixRenegade

Despite all the criticism, I'm still curious haha. Loved it as a kid, so I hope they don't disappoint.
