I had a question about groups vs. single contestants.

If the other member of my group (Fairytail Guild Singers) is unable to compete, is it possible for me to stay on the list as a single-member act? We're not sure if my partner is still competing, but I'm still gung-ho to sing at the contest.

Yes, as long as you let us know at check-in. Once you check in as a group, you are committed to compete as a group.
