(@ Pyron) I thought for a bit after looking at your post, and i do agree that there are definitely parts that i could go and change to make them more open for readers to choose what they do and give tips on those certain subjects. Going through the doc will take maybe a day or two (I'm really busy for the next couple of days, i hopefully will do it by monday), but i will go and edit parts that sound as if i'm saying that "you should do... because of...", instead of saying that "if you do this... then this". Thank you for giving me the feedback.

(Your arrow is about halfway across the page for me... I have a fairly wide monitor, though.)

It also seemed to me like everything was presented in black-or-white, like "you must do this" or "you have to do that" instead of giving some helpful suggestions. Even the sections seemed like you were being forced to chose one of the given options.

For example:
In the food section, you give three options of eating if you stay at the con -- eating breakfast in your room and nothing else, eating only in your room, and eating only out. What I always do is eat breakfast in my room, being food for lunches/dinners and eat that about half the time (mostly lunches) and eat out the rest of the time (mostly dinners). You don't even give the option of bringing both breakfast and lunch food or of doing a combination of eating in and eating out.

Also, most rooms do not have mini-fridges. I always bring a cooler to keep my milk and such.

Probably the biggest problem I had with it is that you think that not eating is an option. IT'S NOT. You have to eat. You will be miserable. You will likely pass out. If you are tempted to spend your food money, keep it separate from the rest of your money and use it only for food (Pockey doesn't count). You will feel misrerable if you only eat ramen the entire con. Don't do it!!!!

(Oh, and by the way, I carry a tote bag around with me to the con... but I use it to carry snacks, water [since I know I won't drink much if I only drank from fountains!], makeup, emergency cosplay repair kit, money, ID, camera, DS, etc. I also attach my con badge to it instead of my person so that it is still handy, but I take the tote off for pictures anyway, so my badge won't show.)

I have edited the guide. i didn't redo the whole doc, but i went through and revised many parts to make it seem less demanding, and more suggestive instead. i hope that this works better. if there is any other feedback please let me know.

Been thinking about this for a while so I thought I should ask it here. But this year I'm thinking of buying those Space Bags Travel things, the ones you roll up to get all the air out. I was thinking it'd help save a lot of luggage room so I'd only have to bring one medium sized duffel bags instead of a huge one.

Anyone else ever try this out? Or maybe something similar?

captboog

that would certainly work if you want to save space while packing. the only thing that i could see possibly being an issue is carrying things that are fragile, because if i'm thinking of the same bag as you are, the bag doesn't come with a whole lot of protection. but if the bag your thinking of does have good padding or protection, then that would be a great way to save space.

Moonblossom

The space bags are great for saving room, but make sure you do get the type you roll the air out of - sometimes they're not labelled clearly.

Also be super careful if you ever fly with them - the stuff will take up less space but still weigh as much so your suitcases can get overweight very quickly. I had this happen to me once, my suitcase (which normally when full weighs about 55lbs) weighed nearly 75 when I used them without thinking.

Rin_chan

yeah I'm definitely considering everything you guys said XD I'm still not sure if I'm gonna buy them or not, but it would be a great convenience.
