Day 0, a few questions.

Hello my anime-friends~

I've been to a few cons in my day, but this year will be my first fanime.

I know day 0 is for pre-reg, but Me and my lover will be coming form Arizona to attend the con ( 15-17 hour drive. UUUGGHHHHH.) and I'd like to ask some of the con vets what the the Pre-reg /normally/ starts, or at least starts to line up.

That way, we can sort-of plan what time we should leave, and all that good stuff.

I understand it's still a while away, but I 'like to get most things done early. ^^

Ha it depends, either way you'll probably be waiting awhile.
People line up way before pre-reg pickup opens, and the line can get pretty long. But it's not too bad to come by late afternoon just for an hour or 2 to be in line.
I can't recall how long we were in line this last year, as long as you're with friends, having fun, talking to new people in line, taking pictures of cosplayers walking by, it's all fun and the time flies by. lol

From what I can recall, people start lining up crazy early but the badge hand out doesn't actually start until about 5pm, and ends around 8 or 9 depending on staff.

So, if you plan to leave that day, leave early. Theres not too much going on on Thursday, just Swap Meet and some random viewings, so if you tuck out early to rest up for the con you wont be missing much.

Swap meet is generally lots of fun, game room you don't need a badge for on thursday and you get to see fun stuff happening at stage zero. I remember a "staff" rock band contest which was fun <3

I believe the line usually starts around 11ish maybe earlier on Day 0, I guess its to prepare for swap meet or something

Swap meet doesn't start till 7pm or 8pm I thought? I only say this from experience since I did swap meet last year. I know people started really lining up for it at about 6pm.
I know pre-registration line starts early even though they don't open until 5pm... In my opinion line up if you're willing to wait. I wasn't and went to get badges the next day.

I'm considering flying out to Fanime. 3 aircraft and minimum 21 hours each way. ;P

It sounds like the pre reg line is shorter then the Otakon line. Last Otakon, there were people lining up to pick up their badges almost 30 hours before reg opened.
