ok so im about halfway done with a Byakuya Kuchiki cosplay - the kimono, hakama, and captain's coat are all done. but what i need advice on is this:

i have no idea how to go about making the things that go in his hair (i cant for the life of me remember what they're called i know they have a special name ><). any advice on how to make them, what to make them out of etc. would be extremely appreciated ^^

i would say just use some sort of cardboard.... hot glue it maybe? or tape from the inside.. that would be simple and easy n e ways....

Cardboard is a great idea  :) Let me take the idea one step further.  Go to a fabric store and purchase white cloth or fabric and sew or tape the white cloth or fabric on the cardboard to create a strong white thing.

I read the volume talking about Kuchiki.  I'm at work and I find the correct term for the white thing =P

Edit: Kuchiki is wearing a Kenseikan which is an ornament allowed to nobels--a series of semi-tubes that clamp to the hair.  Info from Volume 11.

Hm. When I did a Byakuya cosplay, what I did was make the pieces via crinoline insides (a.k.a bones) and fabric.

I made a triangle out of the bones and covered it with fabric so that it would actually BEND with my hair (unlike cardboard that doesn`t bend very well) to a certain extent without the shape getting destroyed.

Not REAL BONES like the skeleton ones D: Like people would use those for Crinoline D:

I suggest you read ININ`s links that he posted to learn what "crinoline" are.
