Barring last week's robo-jump-ahead, Cosplay was posted at 10PM, Kemonomimi at 10:30, and MILFs were posted at 5:30. (Well, that was on Christmas Eve, but hey.)

Long story short: I give people who can't be there for the choosing enough time to claim and make their avatars to start off at midnight with. There are other people who follow the thread, too.

Oneesan.  I really like this moe.  There's just something appealing about a mature older woman who dotes on and takes care of you.

My moe for the week is Shirakawa Shizuru of Memories Off 2nd.  Although probably one of the less popular characters of the game, I have taken a liking to her.  I chose her because I like her for her oneesanish qualities; the very two mentioned above.  And I agree with her in that sometimes in life, you just need a pat on the head.

Taking it easy on the fancy-smansy avvy work this week.  I need a break from the path I've been taking with my avvies to think over what I want to do with them from this point.  And besides, getting too complicated draws attention away from the simple beauty of the head pat. :3

Ah, the onee-san. I never had an older sister by blood, but I have plenty of friends who play that role for me. And to each of them I say thanks.  :D

My mind has been way too distracted lately. I really don't know what I want to do with my avi for this week...

I was considering Alicia-san from ARIA, but I decided that better yet would be the character she seems to be based on, the timeless classic Belldandy.

Belldandy was the first anime character I fell in love with. Sometimes, when I go back to the Oh My Goddess manga, I remember exactly why I thought so, and feel that perhaps she is still the only one for me. There's no other anime character quite so attractive. Not only is she drop-dead gorgeous, but her personality is so innocent and so improbably optimistic that it almost comes off as naive. She has that knowing and loving charm of an older sister, when dealing with her younger sister Skuld, and yet, she's not perfect, herself...

As for artistic choices, I decided to follow Tsu's lead and go with a little bit of minimalism here. Much as I love imitating the title logos for various anime, the picture I had of Belldandy has such excellent motion, I couldn't bear to muddy up my sig with extra, unnecessary stuff. I just added a bit of a border.

Touhou personalities are about 90% speculation, but the fact that percentage is consistent is what really defines the characters.

In Touhou 6 Cirno (the other girl in my sig) was the only ice character.  By the next game, Letty Whiterock was introduced.
By game alone she has the attitude of "I only exist during winter, but I know it can't last forever, so I'll take it easy on you" making her an easy stage 1 boss.

As it is hard to be an onee-san without someone to onee-san on, Cirno's childness allows her to be the caring big sister figure that takes care of her and guides her.  And the fact that she not the brightest bulb from the batch helps in having the 'knowing' onee-san qualities.  And of course, the fact that she takes care of one of my favorite characters make me like her all the more.

As for sig and avi, I figure it would be more of an effort to make a plain one than use the already made ones, plus I've been waiting for a chance to use snowflake shapes...

My sister may have moved out of the house, but I still think that I just like having an older sibling around for support every now and then.

This week, I chose Minami Makimura of Comic Party, for not only does she support everyone else the way she can (being an oneesan-type character, but IIRC, not an oneesan herself), she also passed off a couple of hints about time management to Kazuki that I've partially taken to heart (because I really, really suck with said time management). Last, but not least, she's passionate about her work, and she's very optimistic.

Interestingly enough, I, too, initially marked down Alicia Florence of ARIA, before Tsubasa reminded me of Minami's existence. I felt a bit guilty for having forgotten her in the first place. ^^;

I have an older sister too.  She's two years my senior.  Perhaps because of the proximity in age, our relationship is more of equals as opposed to me depending on her.  Maybe my adoration of the oneesan type is because I never got that kind of support.

Whatever the case, I think we can all agree that moes such as oneesan, imouto, and MILF are obviously independent of real-life familial relationships.

Onee-sans. One of my personal favorites.

I don't have an elder sister, but I do have some "cousins" (they aren't really my cousins, but I don't exactly know how we are related besides the fact that we are related) who are like onee-sans. Although they are 3 years my senior, I never depended on them, but every time I go visit them it's fun times.

This week I have chosen Nobue because she's a pretty awesome character. Although she goes to her sister for money, she does assume the responsibility of taking care of not one, but 4 girls. They don't do anything, but that in itself is such overflowing cuteness. Yeah, she smokes, she drinks, she is into fashion and what not, but there's something about her that draws me towards her. Maybe it's her sisters and friends, I wouldn't know. Whatever the case, I rike her. I'll update my avy when I get home.

For those who still are searching for an onee-san, there's Alicia Florence
(ARIA), Akira Ferrari (ARIA), Tamaki Kousaka (ToHeart 2), and Minagi Tohno (AIR). Also, if you're up for it, I'd say HMX-13 Serio (ToHeart) sorta counts.

edit Mizuki Takase (Comic Party) counts if you take into consideration Revolution ep. 8, where she acts as a older sister to Ikumi. However, her onee-san tendencies stick to that episode and are reusing her traits from her normal osananajimi mode.

Emphasis on the second one.  I'd say that independence is the most represented one out of the bunch in real life scenarios (and some live action shows)

There are two ways around that:

• Transload them (copy the URL of an existing avatar, paste it into the Upload Avatar from URL box on the profile page, or to ImageShack if you  want to bypass the restrictions)
  
• Bare-bones edit (copypasta into MS Paint, ghetto-edit, upload, and quickly destroy the evidence)

If you can't really do the latter, you can always do the former, using the bazillions of icons that LJ users upload every day.

Nako is an oneechan character that I'm quite fond of. (never mind that she's also someone else's fav... >.>; ) One of my three favorite characters from the Samurai Spirits series... she is the older sister of Rimiruru.
From what I can tell... heard... she is very kind and cares a lot for her family, village and nature...
A character I admire and whose shoes I would follow if thrown into her circumstances... I feel at times that she mimics my feelings towards nature....

She is so caring and kind... Traits I think are essential in an oneechan character. The oneechan trait is something I like on a case by case basis... I have to like the character for other reasons first. Doting is nice and all but it can't just be anyone...

Nakoruru isn't really an oneechara at all. If you played through the PC game, there's a scene where they talk about how Rimururu feels ignored by Nakoruru because she cares more about the forest than her.

A lot of you seem to misunderstand what "moe" really is.

It's not "a character you like" or "a character type you like". It's very broad, but there is set limitations really. Like I laughed when people said "Revy" was moe, because she's not a moe-chara. Revy is a Kakkoii-chara.

Nee-chan chara is not moe either. Nee-chan chara is Nee-chan chara.

Moe-chara are like... Mii-tan, Minabi, Komugi, Minna.

The He is My Master characters aren't really... moe... but they do things that are moe moe~.

Eh, like... a completely innocent cute that can be taken as dirty... is moe. Like, moe is not only female.

It's really... too hard to explain with English, too many ideas and words that don't translate. Moe itself literally means "budding" or "burning" and it's applied to both.

Moe-chara and things that are "Moe" because you can have non-moe chara be moe. Like, Saber from Fate is not a moe-chara, but there is moe-saber things, like saber riding stuffed lion.

This is really way too hard to explain.
