From the preview it looks like the story will have more foundation around Subaru, but then again it IS just 30 seconds.

From the preview, it looks like I'm going to start watching Nanoha... Is it me, or does she look older?

Not for me. ::shota::

Anyhow, that looked awesome. I can't wait until it actually does come out.

(Also, as an aside: Chun, why didn't you just revive the old thread?)

Awesome.  As if I need any more reason why this is my most anticipated series of Spring 2007. =P

The song running in the background is probably the new OP.  Kinda hard to really gauge with only the 30 secs.  Kinda sounding like standard Mizuki Nana if you ask me.  I was hoping for something epic after ETERNAL BLAZE.

New all-star seiyuu are slated for the cast.  I guess I'll be looking forward to Saitou Chiwa as Subaru.  And although Tiana interests me more as a character, she's voiced by Nakahara Mai and I can't say I'm a huge fan.  Itou Shizuka is slated for Sally, who will probably remain a minor role. ; ;  And I'm sure everyone wants to hear Sugita Tomokazu as Chrono and Ono Daisuke as Verossa (they're good friends, FYI).

Anyone else following the A's to StrikerS and/or Starting Stars comics?  Quite the fun read and great primer going into the series.

The new main character should be Subaru.  Tiana will probably also share much of the limelight cause she's basically Subaru's partner.  They're both in the Stars unit with Nanoha at the command and Vita as sub-commander.

By any chance, does the Nanoha series stand alone? For example, could I watch Nanoha season 2 without watching season 1 (same question applies for 3, though I suppose that's harder to answer since it isn't out)?

Tsubasa

No, they do not.  It's not advisable to jump into any Nanoha without a full background in the prior series.  They depends kinda heavily on the earlier series to establish conventions, such as magics and terms, and character context.

They're all a good watch though, so it'll be an enjoyable trip. ^^

It airs on the 2nd of April and the subs should be out a week after that, so there is something to discuss.

Haven't the other discussion threads started after the shows started being subbed

Again, I reiterate. Subs?

Since not many seem to have gotten what I'm trying to say, let me state it explicitly.

"I Watch RAW."

And no, not that two horse manslapping competition they call entertainment on UPN.

Impressions from watching episode 1 raw:

-The OP is better than I expected from just the 30 sec clip.  I'm rather liking it.  The ED is pretty nice too.
-Animation quality overall is pretty good.
-As the preview might suggest, the episode's very Subaru & Tiana centric.  It's fun to see how they've progressed from the Starting Stars manga.
-I'm liking Subaru more than I expected.  Seeing her in motion helps I guess.  I'm liking Tiana about as much as I expected.
-Donna Burke's English is better this series.  I hope that keeps up. ^^;
-I like older Nanoha too. XD
-The episode 2 preview shows more Subaru & Tiana.  I'm wondering when Elio & Carol come into the picture.

Fan notes:
-Subaru's magic circle is blue.  Tiana's is orange.  For anyone who didn't catch it in any kind of information yet, Subaru's a Belka-type (read: triangle-shaped circle) and Tiana's a Mid-Childa-type (circular).
-They both use the command phrase "shoot."  I was expecting one of them to use "fire" or something else.
-This has interested me for a while, but why does Cross Mirage (Tiana's device) use a cartridge system?  From my understanding, that's supposed to be pretty non-standard in Mid-Childa devices.
-Kinda disappointed that Revolver Knuckle (Subaru's device) and Cross Mirage aren't intelligent devices.  We don't get to hear more German and English.
-There's a brief bit in the OP with a girl with a square magic circle.  Do I sense the introduction of a new magic system?

I'm totally psyched for more. XDDDDDDDDDDD

My first impressions for the raw:

-Oh wow, this new view of the inner world and such is really depicted well; training sections and the like. Looking forward to more background designing.
-The magic in both Subaru and Tiana's devices is very practical, unlike the intelligent devices as previously mentioned. Perhaps they will receive and upgrade when they rank up from their rookie status (Implication due to the changes made to Nanoha's device from standard to cartridge type).
-I like Hayate much more now that she's become of age (Previous series I really only enjoyed a certain extent), Fate obviously has kept her awesome, and Nanoha is much more likeable in a "kakkoi onee-chan" sort of way than cuteloli (Might help because they're not loli? XD).
-OP and ED are once again GREAT pieces of music. I'm not skipping tracks this time either.
-Rein Rein Rein Rein Rein! I missed seeing mini support characters! She really adds a good character to the whole.
-Episode 2 previews with pajama time. Lol... I suppose they're getting over their S1 EP 4 Jitters early XD. Totally suggestive material already. <3 Sleepyhead Fate~
-Time to see Fate own next episode!

Quote from: Tsubasa-This has interested me for a while, but why does Cross Mirage (Tiana's device) use a cartridge system? From my understanding, that's supposed to be pretty non-standard in Mid-Childa devices.
-I've always just assumed that the cartridge system was an imminent and common upgrade with the raging technology evolution that may have happened between S1 and now. I don't remember anything in S2 suggesting that it was an irregular addition to Nanoha's Raging Heart.

Quote-There's a brief bit in the OP with a girl with a square magic circle. Do I sense the introduction of a new magic system?
-This may be the irregularity that will ensue an appropriate plot pursual; perhaps this girl is the anomaly? (And I hope I wasn't the only one going, "...Rider?")

In general, it delivered. I'm content and can't wait to see more.

Oh, and before:

It seems I messed names up there. I meant Subaru, but came out as Tiana. Don't know how that works.

While intelligent/armed devices are the standard among Nanoha main characters, there are advantages to others.  I take it that Cross Mirage is a storage device like the standard-issue staves of TSAB enforcers.  These are able to process magics quicker because they aren't bogged down by AI.  Users of storage devices also cannot become dependent on said AI.  Revolver Knuckle, on the other hand, is a type of device that has never been presented before: a Belka-type device that has no intelligence capability.  Both previous Belka device types presented in A's, armed and unison, have intelligence capability (however limited in armed devices).  An equivalent to the Mid-Childa storage device has also not been documented in official information either (more like the Nanoha Visual Fanbook, where most of the official word on Nanoha magic comes from).  Maybe we'll get more info later.  They still have to explain what a boost device is too (Carol's device).

Edit:
Upon looking back, perhaps Belka armed devices are similar to Mid-Childa storage devices.  It has been proven that some storage devices can speak (Durandal), while most do not.  That would explain why Graf Eisen, Laevatein, and Klarwind can talk, while Revolver Knuckle cannot.

I would argue that she's been just as awesome in all series, but that's just the Nanoha fan in me talking.  Anyway, yah, her new role/type is very enjoyable.

The cartridge system is standard in Belka-type armed devices.  It's non-standard in Mid-Childa-type intelligent devices because of potential instability and the strain on the user; that's why it was such an unusual upgrade to Raising Heart and Bardiche.  On second thought, since Cross Mirage has no intelligence capability, it might not be too unusual and maybe my impressions have just  been skewed by Nanoha main character standards, when storage devices are supposed to be, by far and large, the predominant device type in the Nanoha world.

Edit:
Re-reading Starting Stars chapter 1, Tiana describes it as a "Belka cartridge system."  Leaving doubts in my mind that it's a common upgrade to Mid-childa devices.
