oooh.. the dreaded spikes of doom...

I hope you've also posted this on cosplay.com cuz I think they'd knoiw better than me.

I've seen one guy do Sora (KH) with his real hair, so it IS possible.

I would suggest hair glue (got2b works well), but I don't know how to make the spikes poofy without a lot of messy fingers and messy hair. That's the canon style.

If you want a more natural look, use hair pomade to separate your hair into the spikes.

BUT TEST IT OUT BEFORE CON!!!

If your hair is cut in a layered cut, that might help you with the spikes being different lengths.  And some kind of styling gel like got2b (as mentioned by SelenDragon) or spikeit (spikit? check at Sally's Beauty Store or other hair salon supply store) or liquid glue (I think that's the name - got2b is available at Long's Drugs, I think).

Wear gloves (like the latex or latex free gloves), try separating your hair in 'clumps' using hair pins and clips, then apply the gel to each clump.  That's my guess since I usually apply it all at once just for smoothing out my hair.

Definitely practice before the con, and probably on a Friday night or Saturday to give your hair a chance to get back to normal by Monday.  This stuff should wash out with regular shampoo.

Have someone help you with this, preferably someone who has used it before, although it shouldn't be too hard to do it by yourself, just takes longer.

ooh thanks :] both sound like really good ideas.

umm, what's hair pomade?
-is a bit of a noob with hair stuff-

I think pomade is similar to hair gel, and has the same styling properties.  Also available at Walgreens, Longs, etc.  Give it a try.  Dunno how stiff or 'dry' it gets after application, though.

(I'm familiar with it only from seeing men use it, but women use it too.)
