I'm surpirse there no Artist Alley Subforum or something here. We need one.

I reg for fanime this week. Fanime 2008 will be my fourth year at fanime, but it's going to be my first time having a booth at the Artist Alley. I seriously need advice and suggestion.

1. For the past artist Alley I been to, I known people bring their own buttom machine, and circular cutter to their booth and make it there. That's not a bad idea to make pins there. I would like to hop on that wagon as well and make pin for my own booth. When I check the cost of the buttom machine and circular cutter, it's like $300+ O_O. It's not like I have that kind of money, but I just think it's unreasonable to buy something that you're just going to use one time in a year SO I was wondering if you know anyplace or anyone I can "rent" buttom machine and circular cutter for next year fanime.

back then SOMEONE WAS SELLING WII MOTE PLUSHIES. I was very very interested on its creative but i wanted to make something similar to that. Like a wii blade. but the Fanime staff would'nt allow it because of Enix's copyright!. I am still angry. its just not making sense..your drawing fan art that your not asking for someones position and you are allow to sell. but when it comes to making FAN PROPS of a made up keyblade...THEY WONT ALLOW IT?????

Im very confused on WHAT to sell and what not to sell????
I know you can sell props its just.....Ithought making your own keyblade and selling would be a thoughtful idea....

Wii mote and pocky plushies are interesting..its just I don't want to steal someones idea for it v_v. Making a xbox 360 or ps3 plushies is'nt the same..... i just don't understand v_v.....

My suggestion is this;...;;;

Fanart, and maybe hopefully ask for commissions..THATS A HUGE START!!!!!..

second I saw someone selling these special gold foil boards and selling them as fan arts or special requsts for a higher price because of the way it shows.....
http://web.kyoto-inet.or.jp/org/jikyu-an/catalogue/sikisikake/090002.jpg
just look at the board not the scroll, if you can see theres a gold line trim...
you could get these in japan town or Daiso (san francisco / Serramonte center)

UPDATE::: i found they are called "Shikishi".  "Tanzuka" are the thin long ones

PLushies..THIS one is a hard one...if you can make like 5-10 somethings maybe they will buy it ^ ^!. REcommend something simple but not to complex...but sad thing is fanime -_-!......

Buttons: *already been expliained but i never thought of that idea*

Bookmarks. (LIKE ANYONE IS WILLING TO BUY THIS T_T...but its worth a shot v_v)

........................................................................

I STILL NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING WHAT TO SELL HERE..i wanna sell keyblades..what can I do??? the only solution i can sell them is in the SWAP market...thats the only best shot but I feel like they limited like 110% of it from doing free will jobs!!!*

Okay THere are NO forums regarding about Artist alley and im really new...

IS FANIME going to supply us Electricity? I know they do but then I saw some other tables not having them. So my real question is this
If they supply us Electricity, are they going to charge you even MORE??? and if so how much???? (Other than knowing 20 dollars for table rent I already know that.)

DOes anyone have a downloaded form for the Artist alley registration table. Apparently the fanime site link is down (BOTH PDF and html) and I already waited 2 weeks and NO response was shown!...little help here (This is for the form, NOT THE sellers permit!)

If you are interested in obtaining power for your table it will be available at an additional cost, and must be authorized by Artist Alley Management. Please contact the AA Staff if you are interested in purchasing a power outlet. The cutoff date to request power is April 1, 2008

Okay i found the information regarding about powersupply and the artist name will be put up on the form. HOWEVER there are NEW thoughts i just found out that I am begining to wonder and worried,.,

1) I never thoguht power supplys are expensive.. i mean right now the price is $250 but is under in negotiations...so hopefully it becomes cheaper >_<!), but hey its going to be worth it somehow since I hated the horrible lighting conditions in the artist alley!!!

2)TABLE WIDTH and sizes..okay I know they are long like those elementary cafeteria tables back then!..however this bothers me alot..

DOES ANYONE know what are the size of SPACE the artist can have???
because i got this feeling im going to set to someone i don't know next to me and thinking of a table , i assume half the table's space O_O!...

The power is expensive probably because the convention center charges them that much for a power drop in the exhibit hall.  I have seen the price drop as more artist request them in the years past, though, but it won't come cheap, and probably will eclipse the price of the table.

I don't think the tables are quite the size of cafeteria tables (but I guess that depends on the school)... they're at least 5 feet long from what I recall, and when you buy a table at Fanime, you buy the entire table.  You only split a table with someone if you want to.  I know some conventions sell half spaces, but Fanime sells the whole tables.

okay thanks for the information. I really need the power supply because the lighting is very horrible to my eyes whenever i draw. I tried to draw a drawing using the same floresent lights the convention has, the end process look so horrible!!!!

Im hoping the power supply is reduced soon. i would'nt mind paying 50-95 but anything over that is going to make me think of another alternative light source.

(if anyone is confused heres an idiots response)
POOR LIGHTING MEANS BAD BUSINESS, I NEED A Light source, and no don't give me a piece of Crap flash light table ting. THEY NEVER HELP. SAME GOES WITH LED BULBS..that makes it very worse!!!

OKAY THIS IS A Noob question...

what are the limits of Decorating a table....
and to be honest I wanna add some (plastic) plants because i hate to have a table to look soo bored >_<!......Maybe a banner of my stores name..but I wanna know the limits of Decorating a table... I know one of them i cannot do is adding some kind of ROOF tent above my head because it would be unfair to other people. but I really wanna add some green plants >_<!!!!and a better lighting -_-!
