Initial D seems to have been a pretty big staple in Fanime so far, so why not bring the newest installment to Fanime? I'm fairly sure we've all kept our stockpiles of tokens and ID4 cards ready for SOMETHING.

ID4 cards are thick credit card sized ones, rather than the magnetic paper ones from Ver. 1-3 and Maximum Tune. They do hold a lot more data (3 cars in one rather than one car each card) and a generated avatar where you can "upgrade" the look of the avatar just like upgrading cars. Of course, ID4 cards are much more expensive. And all card data from old Initial D games are now useless in ID4.

I have played IDV4 and I didn't really like it.

I'd much rather play WMMT3 or even IDV3.

If we're using SJSU's machines just like we did last year, there won't be Initial D 4 as of this post.
It's still Initial D 3 there.  If we use golfland machines, however, it'll be Initial D 4 if we can afford to rent them.

I was in Reno this weekend, and over at the Peppermill Arcade they had a Initial D Ver. 4 machine. A dollar to play, a dollar to continue, and 4 dollars to buy a card (now that it's turned into a credit card). Graphics were a major overhaul from the previous 3 versions, and now contain real cutscenes and speech during races!

However, I didn't play at the machine at all...I was stuck on the other side, blowing $40-$50 on the Maximum Tune 3 machine (the first time I've played it since...FANIME!). Much more upside since continues were $.75 (but to start it was $1.50) and no fee for me to get a card (since I had my Ver. 2 card from Fanime).

So yeah...

And that's the big turn-off with the new version...at least with WMMT, there hasn't been a card change yet within the 3 versions that have come out
