Yes, it's 2 am.
I got the 4th cross all decked out in gold, falala...la la laaaa!
(Took over an hour for each one.)
Only thing is, I can't quite finish it, the silly gold stuff doesn't work to make a circle shape....
So....I'll have to actually finish it tomorrow after I can go to the store to get some gold cording.

I think this scarf is trying to eat my mind. Really!!!

Let this be a warning to all who will be trying to make manga/art book versions--start now and avoid the Fanime rush. These things are insane. ;b~

But...I suppose there are some solutions I opted for that take longer.
Like you could top stitch your silver trim instead of hand sewing it closed.
I opted for real leather, which Betsy helped with. So instead of using 'found' belts that were close enough, we made belts to look like the manga.
I couldn't find 'jodphur' style boots, so I had to re-dye an old brown pair to black.
And instead of just using boots, we made the 5-strap spats.
I made my own small crosses out of Sculpey and resin cast them for the 'belt rosary bling'.
I lined my cape and most of the cassock (just not the sleeves).
I actually put the detail on the cassock that will be hidden by the cape--so if I want to take the cape off, it's manga style.
etc.

As suggested to Yukari, you can also start with the anime look and add to it. Just remember the anime tends to have less slits and wider trim. So if you're going to do that, make the shape and lines of the clothes to the final look, just bling it out over time....

kIMU...2o'clock is how late I consider too late!!! And WoW that list of stuff you've done for your costume...AMAZING!!!!!
He! THe book is good, Iam not done yet(I read too slow) But its really good and you get to meet alot of characters who are just mentioned in the anime as well as see the proffesor in battle, the pope in street clothes, and much much more!!! :D

thats exactly what i plan on doing =D after Yaoi Con, I might possibly begin the upgrade to Thores (if the armor I'm planning on making doesn't hinder me too much >< ), so i might have a blinged out Tres for fanime next year, too early to say.

Based on the manga...
If on the road, it would seem Abel is stuck fixing it.
If around the Iron Maiden, they seem to have some supplies on board.

But I'd suppose that Her Eminence probably factors that in the T&E...<sigh> And we wonder why we always end up with 4 dinars??
The cost of upkeep on these uniforms!! THAT's how she keeps us in vows of poverty!!!

The whole trashing of uniforms leads me sometimes to my joke of Why Things Change in the manga versions....
Don't get me started on the shape of the pauldron...as that has been my project for this evening.
I'm happy to report I'm about 90% satisfied with the shape of it, but then it's got to go through spackling and painting. And I don't think I'll get the second part of that piece (the smaller piece under the outer piece) done by the picnic.
Hopefully by AnimeExpo....

I also ran out of my fave spackling today--DAP vinyl spackling and had to make a run to the hardware store this afternoon. I've used it on all my prop swords and am using it to fill in the Wonderflex texture--I give up on that 50 coats of gesso thing, was taking too long.
But too bad no one working there asked me what I was looking for and why... alas! The look they give you is always sooo much fun!
"Yes, I need a hand saw for 1/4" pine molding, that can cut a curve like this...."
"What sort of project?"
"Wooden prop swords, need to be able to cut a katana curve...."

About as much fun as the time I was looking for electrical tape to use in braiding horse manes (when I showed Tage in Show Hack, it was legal to use that stuff to enhance your work). The clerk was totally disgusted with me, quite fun!

Anyway, I think I'll behave and not stay up as late tonight, but probably at least to midnight. That make you happy Nightroad?  ;)
But I got a couple more things I want done before bed.

I'm pacing myself!! I promise not to be sleeping on a bench, although I'm sure there will be some funny photo ops--and that might not be a bad one actually. But think of it! Abel at a picnic! What better?! yum!
Just have to watch out for your Matsumoto with "huge tracts of land", that's not appropriate for a priest after all!! LOL!
The whole imagery you mentioned makes me laugh...but I will probably travel up partly dressed, and put some of it on when we get there. Have to seeee. The cape for darn sure won't go on until we get there! But maybe the cassock, too.

At least I know I won't freeze if it's windy, or have to worry about skirts getting blown around. heheheh

I had a couple messages to address before bed (got some people wanting me to go to Kumoricon, too...cripes I'm "in demand"?! O_O) so I thought I'd visit while having a midnight snack before bed.
